With just a little over a week left in 2011, a rough year for the T-Mobile faithful is finally coming to a close. Pushing aside all the recent doom and gloom of late, let’s turn our attention to one simple question we’d like to ask…what is your vote for the best phone of 2011? We’ve included a list of the most likely suspects, however, you should feel free to add an unlisted choice in the comments. You can only vote once so choose wisely. What phone did you truly lust for this year?

Let the voting begin!

    You mean Torch 9810?

    • http://tmonews.com David

      I sure did, all fixed!

  • steven

the amaze 4g is epic.  my LDI is red from all of my drool, it is that sexy.

  • Bootheorane

    T mobile G2

    • Aaron Tant

I loved that phone, the only reason I think David left it off was because it didn’t come out in 2011.

  • Anonymous

I had to pick the Tmobile g2x because its the ONLY thing on Tmobile close to being a pure google phone.  I owned the SGS and hated the touchwiz UI, I also had the mytouch4g wihich I liked BUT sense kept crashing.

    • Antoinetrenton

My touch 4g whz doing the samething that why I got a LG g2x and its one of the best t mobile phone

      • Kelly

My G2X sucked. It was so buggy. Fast but buggy. I replaced it with the awesome Amaze!

  • Kahlayoh

    I love my Galaxy S2

  • Bimmerz

Ahh! David – ya left off the Nexus S?! pffft ;o)

Hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend!

    • http://tmonews.com David

The Nexus S came out in 2010. So…yup, sure did leave it off! December 16th, 2010. That would make it ineligible!

      • Bimmerz

Ok, makes sense – just 2 weeks shy of 2011, so I pretty much think of it as a 2011 phone. No matter! Happy Holidays! =o)

        • http://tmonews.com David

Well…I only posted phones that actually released in 2011 and I’m sticking to that!

        • Anonymous

oooooookay, 2011 is 2011 we get it!

        • Wilma Flintstone

NO! My HD2 NEEDS to be on that list!!! Edit that Poll David!!! GRRRR!!! LOL!!!

        • Bimmerz

Ok, if you’re set on 2011 (that’s cool), where’s the Galaxy Nexus? It has been released, and while it’s not sold by T-Mobile US (nor was the Nexus S), it too should be included. Just sayin… ;o)

        • http://tmonews.com David

Honestly, this is for phones SOLD by T-Mobile. That should be obvious. The “best T-Mobile phone,” not “the best phone that would run on T-Mobile even so it wasn’t actually sold on T-Mobile” poll of 2011.

        • Bimmerz

Fair enough. I was going by your Facebook posting from a couple of days ago, when you were asking about best phones – and you had included the NS, because it was sold on contract.

Then I think you later realized that the NS wasn’t sold in 2011. As it was sold late Dec 16th, 2010 – and you had to remove that option. Which is what made me think of the Galaxy Nexus – although it’s not sold on “contract” like the NS was.

Anyway, from what I gather, we may not see it sold on T-Mobile (or even through Best Buy) in 2012. But it looks like damn AT&T will be getting it in February. :o(

Oh well, it is what it is…

      • Anonymous

and the new Nexus, Galaxy Nexus or Nexus II?? 2012 …sometime LOL

    • http://tmonews.com David

The Nexus S came out in 2010. So…yup, sure did leave it off! December 16th, 2010. That would make it ineligible!

    • Bimmerz

P.S. If I had to vote on the above selected, I’d go with SGS2 or the HTC Amaze – even though I haven’t used either (other than tested within a T-Mobile store). =o)

    • Bimmerz

  • kkkk

i love my nokia express music phone,

    • kkkk

the bad thing is it costs only $40 on ebay, nd no longer on tmo

  • Jonhammond

I’ve had every T-Mobile Sidekick phone since the original black and white that looked like a bar of soap. The new Sidekick 4G is definitely the best one yet, once you get the hang of the Android features. Highly recommend, JH

  • Anonymous

    My phone isn’t a 2011 phone, lol.

  • Johntajacobs

    Luv the Tmo Sidekick 4G

  • Xxx_yyy_zzz

    T-Mobile Google G2

    • Anonymous

      that released last year

  • Dmarco1979

Best phone of 2011 had to be the MyTouch 4G Slide without a doubt. This phone is Fan-frigin-tastic!!!

  • Anonymous

Rocking ICS on my Sensation 4G.

    • TDONT41

HOW DID YOU GET IT UPDATED TO ICS

      • Wilma Flintstone

Unofficially through Android’s Saving Grace XDA.

    • Anonymous

      Is it stable?

  • Sammyesparza

I have to say the sensation, amaze, and galaxy s 2 are definitely top 3. I had a sensation, im now using the amaze

  • http://www.phonedog.com Taylor Martin

Too bad the Galaxy Nexus isn’t officially a T-Mobile phone. ;-)

  • Moalx1

Got the Galaxy Nexus GSM on T-Mo. It ia awesome!!

    • http://MobileGenius.wordpress.com JM

How are the speeds with it on T-Mobile? I just switched to Verizon for it but it (usually) isnt really any faster in LTE than my GSII was on T-Mobile’s service.

      • Sacedric

I have GN on T-Mo and get between 4mbs and highest i have tested so far is 12mbps down. Time of day dependent. But still faster then what i used to get on my mytouch4g. The phone is awesome.

        • http://MobileGenius.wordpress.com JM

OK, so it is a little slower than the GSII and and LTE Nexus but not enough to really matter. Thanks.

  • Superman

Hey David , you should have named this article as ” the best phones to use on Tmobile network” and added the iPhone as one of the voting options. Me and you would for sure vote for the iPhone .

    • http://tmonews.com David

      That is so true!!

      • Wilma Flintstone

        iSheep LOL Jk David Lol

        • PhantomWraith

Actually I was amazed that the Iphone wasn’t on the list knowing how the blogger is dying to get one anyway. Not sure why anyone would want it, my friend that has a Iphone 4 can’t even do half the things I can do on my amaze and he wanted to trade me. I was like OH HELL NO. LOL

        • http://tmonews.com David

Right, see I appreciate the iPhone and if you don’t, that’s fantastic. The thing is, your comment comes across as more of an “I hate the iPhone” than it does an argument as to why your phone is actually better.

        • Wilma Flintstone

Um, My comment was a joke at the podcast… Not meant to spark an argument… *womp womp woooommmmpppp*

  • http://www.theandroidsite.com benmarvin

Owned the G2X for almost all of 2011. Probably the longest I’ve ever held onto a single phone.

    • Smith22t

Hell me too I just switch 2weeks ago. But I still have my g2x

    • Joseg66

Great phone but still freezes and too many problems at rollout. I just bought a Galaxy Nexus but will keep the G2X and wait for Ice Cream.

  • Kristin

Factory unlocked iPhone 4s running good on Tmo network

    • Runninr3b3l

theres always a pirate in the stinkn lot!!!!! who gives a crap!!!

      • Wilma Flintstone

YOU DO!!! Otherwise you would just read and keep scrolling. Well by Golly Wilma, You just hit the nail on the head there Dontchaknow. :-O

  • Tmonews

My G2x came w/ Gingerbread. Not buggy at all. Fast & the battery lasts a long time.

  • Konrad

Really how is tmobiles first 4.3″ screen phone not winning everyone got the gs2 (except Verizon) nothing special if everyone got it

    • Wilma Flintstone

      You mean the HD2?

  • Anonymous

I have an HTC Sensation but the GS2 wins without a doubt.

  • Anonymous

Yeah, dunno. I think the HTC Radar is the most reliable device we have released this year. I believe if more folks took the time and used Windows Phone, they would really give it a shot. It’s pretty stellar. Wish we would have released the Titan though…

    • Anonymous

Me too! I would of use my upgrade for that.

  • TDONT41

IT GOTS TO GO TO MY HTC SENSATION BEST PHONE I HAD AFTET THE SAMSUNG VIBRANT!

  • Rush8220

I noticed you didn’t ad the exhibit just exhibit 2 it came out in 2011 rite I wouldn’t say it was the best phone but definitly worth mentioning probably the best mid range phone tmo came out with this yr. I voted for the sgs2 definitly most innovative products out this year. I’m still using my HTC hd 2 still the best phone out, ever. I bought an exhibit my wife uses it I’m glad I got the exhibit its a good phone.

  • Magilla409

HTC Sensation 4G, easy. Lots of awesome ROMs available, powerful hardware, and a great design (I love that if I bang up the unibody phone housing, I can get a replacement and it would be good as new.) The SGS2 is nice, but really isn’t that surperior other than additional RAM and onboard storage (especially once the Sensation is rooted/overclocked/running a custom ROM.)

  • gixxerj

Sgs2 all day, 1.5 ghz dual core processor, 768 mb ram. Hard to beat that right now now I got my 32gb micro sd and loving it. Just need ics now.

    • Ilyas_k15

      it’s 1 gb ram

      • Br1

768 MB, give or take is accesible

  • MIKEEEEE

moto CLIQ2, not too technocool but, in areas where towers are few and far between and HTC and samsung phones are just pretty plastic bricks along with iphones, it becomes very apparent.

i wonder what kind of new MOTO hardware is heading for t-mo?

    • Anonymous

      The Cliq 3.

  • ModhuMama

Samsung Galaxy S2 is the best phone.

  • Anonymous

    Well this was obvious lol.

    • Wilma Flintstone

I know right? It’s obviously The Behold 2. *Trollface.jpg* LOL!!!

      • Anonymous

NOTHING beats the Memoir and it’s 8MP Camera and Touchwiz 1.0!!!!! Feature phone and low res video recording FTW!!!!! Wait…………

  • Anonymous

I got it on Monday and I’m loving my GS2.

  • fandroid

Sensation is the easy choice. Sorry GSII, me no like you.

    • MrBonez

I agree 100% fandroid.  I’ve had my HTC Sensation for about 5 months now and its AWESOME!!! I will always have an HTC phone with T-Mobile

      • Tbyrne

Gotta disagree there MrBonez. I had the Sensation day 1 when it came out. Sold it on Amazon for $360.00, got the GS2 and never been happier. Lighter, bigger screen, samoled screen. Didn’t like the touchwiz though at first but it grows on you.

  • Ibleedmagenta

Why would you want a galaxy s2? The g2x is pure android. Its the closest we would have got to a non overlay phone that was 4g with out going to sprint. Touchwiz is a better overlay than sense, granted, but I’ve had everything from blur to touchwiz and to me nothing beats the g2/g2x phones. If t mobile came out with a newer version with ICS I would buy it tomorrow.

    • Wilma Flintstone

Actually, Sense has been said to be the Best Overlay by numerous people. I’m not that fond of it but thats what a few reviewers say.

      • Anonymous

I like sense its pretty good but if ICS had the same camera features as Sense UI it would be no contest that id choose them over sense

    • Havoktek

Hey I’m down with the G2x but put an Galaxy S2 in front of me then I’m jumping ship!
LG screwed the pooch when they created this phone….shoddy first run builds, patchy software support….If I didn’t know how to root the damn thing I would have ditched it a long time ago…

    • Anonymous

” Why would you want a galaxy s2? The g2x is pure android…”
i am a degenerate technophobe with a limited budget.  i may not be able to aquire different devices with various levels of carrier customization, but i can at least try the pure android roms the various devs produce.

i have tried a “pure google” experience.  i didn’t like it.  just because you liked a strict google device doesn’t mean that everyone else will.

as for why anyone would want the galaxy s2, well, it was the best phone t-mobile offered this year and its camera was comparable to (but not better than) the amaze and was cheaper.  i voted for the sgs2 (and with my wallet as well).

besides, didn’t the g2x have some significant known hardware and/or software issues?

  • King69pm

The GS2 is hot but it is missing the notificaion feature that the epic touch has and samsung need to step up their radio game if im going to have a to pay that much for a phone it needs to have superb bar levels no matter where I am at!

  • Anonymous

The Radar (winPhone7) is so stable and silky smooth in operation.  Very intuitive and solid hardware,  Gets my vote.

You should have a “worst phone of the year” as well.  For that I nominate the Sidekick4g.  8 months out from launch and still not stable.  I have run alpha roms on my nexus one that were more stable than the official samsung sidekick4g release.

    • Anonymous

It would have been a fine device if samsung would have upgraded the software and recalled all those defective unit whose touchscreen turns off

      • Anonymous

I absolutely agree with you.  But samsung and upgrades do not generally go in the same sentence.  And samsung dealing with defects also generally does not go in the same sentence.  This is definitely the last anything that i buy with a “samsung” on it

  • Nearmsp

Now I can understand why Apple’s legal time is charging full steam in Australia, Netherlands, Germany etc against the SGS2. That said, iPhone 4S is losing market share in Europe. I yearned for an iPhone on T-mobile. Having changed from a 16 month BB Bold to an SGS2, there is no going back to BB or even considering an iPhone for me. Serves Apple right for going out of its way to keep T-mobile customers from getting an iPhone. Viva Samsung and T-mobile!

    • http://rpad.tv RPadTV

How did Apple go out of its way? It made one phone that has a radio that supports most of the world’s GSM and CDMA carriers.

  • Kaylee

Amaze!! I know it won’t win because the galaxy s II is more popular, but the camera on this phone is phenomenal. Also I know a lot of people hate Sense, but I absolutely love it!

  • Andy8250

My favority phone es the nexus s for T-Mobile the best.

  • Nik

SGSII is a nice phone but the versatility, build quality and overall staying power my original Sensation has provided (plus i’ve already got stable builds of ICS on it) makes it my top for the year. Amaze would get the nod if it weren’t anything more than a copy paste with some new cam software..

  • saintcloud

Samsung galaxy s 2 is the best phone out there in everyway.who need iPhone when apple controls the phone

  • Mirad77

The Droid Razor. Boy this phone is a beast. Even though I only have edge, an still loving every minute am using it.

  • Thepatterson16

The G2x sucks it has random crashes, trust me, im typing on one now

    • Havoktek

Sorry Dude mine rocks! However I’m running a Miui rom

      • Lgsucks

you smoking crack, lg sucks !

    • Antoinetrenton

      Sorry dude mines rock to

  • Anonymous

whoever selecting anything other than galaxy s2 must be in denial or plain stupid

    • Dashtheartist

Or they just don’t like the skyrocket and it’s sub par processor.

    • http://www.twitter.com/mrjlwilliams J. Williams

Yep. I somewhat agree, only because I’ve used or owned every phone on is this. The galaxy s 2 is the best in my opinion, but that’s it. An opinion. Everyone has their own.

  • Gsxrguy412

Ive had my g2x since new..the original camera was unbeatable!!The gingerbread update ruined that!! The lack of overlay is wonderful! My phones never been problematic..its smooth..fast..clean!! BEST PURE ANDROID PHONE PERIOD!!! Hope I get ICS!!

    • Antoinetrenton

LG g2x is the best phone on t mobile with android 2.3.3

    • joe

I have the g2x and in comparison with the my touch this phone sucks its too sloe and way to many bugs

  • Lil50317

The amaze, beats the iphone 4s lol

  • Anonymous

Nexus S, you left it off the list, I owned the Nexus S before jumping in the lake with it :s and now I own the Sensation 4G, I long for my Nexus S.  I will never own a non-Nexus Phone again!!!  Pure Android is unbeatable and the CM builds for non-Nexus Phones are not as good.

    • Anonymous

Agree, manufacturer skins are the worst.

  • Hicy

Droid razr is the best phone ever!!!

    • Mirad77

True that. Mine is GSM and am using it on T-Mobile.

    • Anonymous

It’s not on T-Mobile and Blur sucks. If I was on Verizon the only phone I would consider is the Nexus.

      • Mirad77

I don’t know if u can’t read or not, but I said mine is GSM model and am using it on T-Mobile. If you have questions ask but don’t talk about what u don’t know.

  • Rsuero16

T-mobile need the iphone for 2012

    • Amazeguy
