HTC Radar 4G For T-Mobile Hanging Around In The Wild

Well would you look at that, we thought the day was already filled with Windows Phone news but we didn’t know the best was saved for last. Our inbox just got a present with some “in the wild” shots of the HTC Radar for T-Mobile hanging out. There really can’t be any doubt now with the T-Mobile branding, boot screen, TV app and “about” screen that all clearly show this thing is Magenta bound. Even better is the clear indication on the “about” screen and the signal meter that this Windows Phone 7 device will hit store shelves with both 4G and Mango at the ready. No word on when we can see this one launch or how much it will cost but that’s ok, just enjoy the pictures for now.

I actually like the white look…even though I never owned a white phone.

      • PhilB33

I’ve seen pics of this phone also in black.

I think the silver version of this one looks better… why oh why can’t we get the silver one?

  • swagbowbow

really disappointed by the screen size but the aesthetics of this phone and the ui are leaps and bounds ahead of any android phone to date.  Hopefully the Bresson comes out of the shadows soon because this windows mango looks awesome

Nice. Time to get a new phone. Been waiting on a new Windows phone to arrive. I have not seen anything better than my HD2 as of yet that will make me happy.

If Tmo isn’t going to get the iPhone I might as well try out WP7.

  • William Cron

Very nice. This might my upgrade choice a bit harder.

I welcome the 4G but 1Gz, 5MP camera, and 8gig storage, not acceptable!  Wanna be a big boy?  Then play with the big boys and get something better like the Titan or similar.  My gut feeling tells me this will be the only Wp7 Tmo will get.  The rest will be for the other big three carriers.  Tmo, they just love losing customers…

I got the same feeling too lubba =/

This is not Android that need dual or quad core to perform acceptable.

Windows Phone with single core 1Ghz works so smooth and fast that even those dual or quad core phones can’t compete with it.

Dual core and Quad-core Windows Phone devices come next year with WP8.

I still will get this for my sister and mom this holiday. But I want Samsung Focus S or Nokia WP.

      Bring it on T-Mobile.

      • lubba

I agree with you on the processor part.  Still when you see other carriers most of the time recieving better products than Tmo, you get a llittle upset.  Remember the HTC Bresson.  Rumored for Tmo but as of late, nothing!  And here ATT has 3 wp7 lined up already!  What is wrong with this picture!  Whats wrong with Tmo period!

        • http://chreestoph.tumblr.com Chris

That’s what happens when you have weird AWS frequencies. The reason why AT&T are getting nice devices is because they share their frequencies w/ Rogers, Bell, Telus, carriers in Mexico, Brazil, yada yada, a bigger incentive for manufactures to produce devices w/ those frequencies. Don’t blame Tmo, blame the industry…

        • John

It doesn’t do anything with frequencies.

This is completely base on deal between handset maker and carrier. AT&T wanted tthose 3 devices on network so they made a deal with HTC and Samsung to make it happen.

T-Mobile USA in the other hand is really bad with this deals and usually they don’t get the best and latest phones becuse simply they don’t make a deal with these handset makers.

They got HTC HD2 and HTC HD7 (before AT&T) which both were really good and glagship devices (I know HD2 was the best so far) but still their collection is not enough.

The need more devices and in this case they need several Windows Phone devices to make everybody happy.

If they only offer HTC Radar 4G I for example will go to AT&T becuase I really want Windows Phone but something like HTC Titan or Samsung Focus S. HTC Radar 4G is good for my mostly women not a guy phone really.

NO FFC STILL??? WHAT ABOUT SECOND GEN + SCREEN ? NO? FORGET THAT THEN! lol

You must have missed the front facing camera above the T-Mobile branding on the phone.
You must have also missed the announcement of this phone with the 2nd gen SnapDragon.
      It also has a screen.

Ok, T mobile got a reprieve until next year and they are mean mugging with new phones….

This phone really bugs me.  For the most part this is a better phone then my HD7.  Newer CPU/GPU, SLCD, 4G, better camera, FFC, compass, etc… But the screen.  How can I go from watching my lunch time Netflix on a nice 4.3in screen to a 3.8in one? Why couldn’t T-Mobile get the Titan?? Me sad. :(

  • http://www.mainstreetchatham.com/ JimmyFal

I can’t possibly go from the HD7 to the Radar screen size. But I can CERTAINLY go from T-Mobile to where the TITAN is. Are you listening T-Mobile?

    • http://twitter.com/SParKlngCyaNide SparklingCyanide

I’m really surprised seeing as T-Mobile had both the HD2 exclusively and the HD7 first.  Where’s our titan?!  smh

      • http://www.mainstreetchatham.com/ JimmyFal

Honestly I will be stunned if they screw this one up. Been with T-Mob for 10 years or more, they better not mess this up, that’s all I can say.

        • Peter

I am in same boat. If they do mess up this time and only offer this Windows Phone and nothing like Titan I am done with T-Mobile.

T-Mo not supporting WP7, not surprising. After the HD2, HD7 this seems like a stop down rather than the next logical upgrade. And still a single, solitary model to compete against the sea of android devices. Probably thought the acquisition would be smooth sailing, plus they prefer android anyway. Dont see this device getting much of a fair shake at t-mo stores. Who wants to bet we’ll see the same thing we saw with the HD7, devices with dead batteries on display or tucked away in the back of the store? Such bias is pathetic.

    MINE!

  • http://cosmicbreeze.tumblr.com/ DtheArtist

I know some people prefer bigger screens, but what’s the issue with a 3.8″ touchscreen? People act like it’s a 3″ screen or something. I remember people had a G2 & loved it, & that was a 3.7″, this is nothing, but 2″ under 4.” Next people will be craving for 5″ screens. I have bigger fingers, but the way people scuffle over bigger screens is ridiculous. But, to each his/her own. I know I’m getting this. The features are great in my opinion, & they key feature is WP7 & WP7+ phones run smooth.

    • http://twitter.com/jnonis BJ Nonis

And to think that since all WP7 screens need to have the same resolution, a smaller screen has greater pixel density…I like that.  I have an HD7, and would love a 3.8″ screen.  No way would I like to go bigger than 4.3.

      • http://cosmicbreeze.tumblr.com/ DtheArtist

        I agree.

  • GustyGardens

I quite like the look of the phone, and I feel the screen size isn’t too bad, but what gets to is the camera.  When I think of a 5MP camera, I think of the HD7 camera and that has its good days and bad days.  If the camera is good, and by good I mean tons better than the HD7 camera, then I don’t really have too much of problem with this phone.

Though, I’ve become spoiled by the larger screen sizes, so the Titan is much more appealing to me.  It’s strange that only AT&T have announced their Mango phones.  It’s strange, and unnerving for those of us at T-Mobile, and the other carriers.  I guess only time will tell…

MegaPixel is not everything. There are lots of stuff involve in picture quality (like sensors and etc.)

Some of 5 Megapixel caemras can take better pictures than 8 Megapixel cameras.

The problem is not 5MP the problem is quality of other stuff that makes HTC phones not great for taking pictures.

I just got a $829.99 for only $103.37 and my mom got a $1499.99 HDTV for only $251.92, they are both coming with USPS tomorrow. I would be an idiot to ever pay full retail prices at places like Walmart or Bestbuy. I sold a 37″ HDTV to my boss for $600 that I only paid $78.24 for. I use GrаbPenny.сom
