    • Will

      Tell me about it lol

Maybe stupid question but do you have to pay extra fpr 4g or just need a phone capable of it?

    • Killigmodprince

no unlike sprint who has to pay an extra $10 for 4G we at Magenta don’t pay the extra premium all you need is a 4G enabled phone want to sweeten the deal? even regular 3G enabled phones can utilize T-Mobiles 4G network albeit a slower speed but still faster than regular 3G now that’s what i call sweet!!!!!!

    • mike

just need a phone capable of it. although all phones will see a slight speed increase.

      • http://twitter.com/chaoscentral John Pisano

A little more than slight lol, about 5-8x faster than what I usually get, previous being 600-900kbps, now over 5mbps

    • Ghuayu

we liked our customer liked, and nothing closed to what’s sprint try to ruined and charged extra 4G to our relationship with our customers!

  • Metro Detroit too? :)

      • Metro Detroit too? :)

Where? Do you know if Rochester Hills will have it too?! :) I’ve noticed it in my downtown area (8 Mbps+) but everywhere else is still kinda slow…

        • Collin Sanford

shoot, in logansport, in we still are stuck with edge. Lafayette, IN is only 40 minutes away, but we dont quite get that tower

Just flipped the switch in my town, suburb of Boston. Use to get around 900 kbps downoad and now I’m getting between 3 and 5 mb on download and 1.5 mb on the upload. Every day the speeds get faster. What a difference. These fast speeds are not costing T-Mobile customers an extra 10 bucks a month like Sprint charges . I’m getting these speeds on my Nexus One. Just got my new My Touch 4G today and setting it up. I’m wondering if this new phone will even pull in faster speeds? My Nexus One is a monster on this refreshed Network.
THANK YOU T-MOBILE. YOU ARE NO 1 WITH ME.

Oh, just like their 4G speeds in Boston where my MyTouch 4G gets speeds ALMOST equal to AT&T and Verizon. What a load of poop.

    • http://twitter.com/chaoscentral John Pisano

Ummm idk about you, but I get over 5mbps, and blow ATT and Verizon out of the water. Got alot of my friends at work jealous over it. All depends on the location I guess, but in the Saugus area, Lynn, West Revere, etc I get about 5mbps. Its fantastic

      • DD_838

I live in Allston. One would think that the city would be getting those speeds before the suburbs. My mom lives in Saugus and I am going there for Turkey Day. I’ll run a speed test when I’m there and let y’all know.

Yay, T-mobile’s HSPA+ network keeps growing. HSPA+ FTW!!!

  • Ragglefarts

noob question. will the vibrant feel the effects of the 4g network?

    • Deawoo

I twitted TMO about the faster speeds since I’m still running with a G1 (Cyangenmod 5) and they said I “will” still benefit from the increased speed.

    • http://twitter.com/JethroGibbsFan James

Yeah it will. Wont be 4g but you will get faster speeds then you were before

    • http://twitter.com/FR35HM1NDZ Jamille Browne

Absolutely it will actually all HSPA smartphones will see an increase and since all phones on tmo’s network are HSPA phones (some even higher with HSPA+) then the answer is yes.

    • http://twitter.com/SParKlngCyaNide SparklingCyanide

I was getting 5 to 7mbps on my Nexus One and now on my MT4G I’m getting 7 to 12mbps in Michigan.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSS! Finally 4G in Detroit :D. Now I can finally maximize my G2′s speeds :D *All smiles here*

  • Roger

Here in Santa Cruz, CA just a few miles from Silicon Valley I get nothing but the finest Edge.

I live in Central California about 100 miles from Sacramento and I get 4G connection constantly without a drop in coverage except for rare instances. I’ve been happy with the phone and the service so far. Speeds here are close to Sprints speeds but not quite as fast yet. I’ve had TMobile since before they had good 3G coverage and I can say they have done the most to improve their service out of all the wireless companies.

I had AT&T for years before that, since they were Pacific Bell Wireless yes that long, and AT&T has done nothing to improve their dropped calls or coverage imo. I had the first gen iPhone and got rid of it to switch to TMobile to save money. Initially the service wasn’t that great but every month darn near I saw an improvement in service. Now I have little to no problems after about 3 years. I’ve had the HTC Dash (WM phone), the G1 and the MyTouch 3G slide (which I just sold to my little brother to get the MyTouch 4G).

No wireless company is perfect but I can say that where I live in California TMobile has done and excellent job of making their service better. Now that they have some high end Android phones (MyTouch 4G, G2 and Samsung Vibrant) they can compete a little better with Sprint and Verizon. AT&T is screwed when the iPhone goes to Verizon next year. Everyone I know is waiting until then to leave AT&T.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Simon-Yu/100000989859895 Simon Yu

No. It will not run on HSPA+ but it will benefit from it still.

      • http://twitter.com/chaoscentral John Pisano

Wonder if we’ll get HSPA+ here in Toledo when Detroit gets switched on..I’m pretty sure that’s when we got 3G here last time around.

  • Nick

Looks like Mobile, AL is now one of the last 12 on the original list to get HSPA+. We’re still stuck with EDGE.

    • jay

Yeah nick, I live in Mobile like you and we been on EDGE since before the G1. It wouldnt be so bad if it wasnt for the fact that 3g and now “4G” has been promised for years

      • Fletchbspam

Heck we have been on EDGE in Mobile since at least 2006 when I got the original Pearl

    • Fsscott23

Ever since they started to make users pay for HSPA+, I stopped caring

    • Josh

What are you talking about? You don’t have to pay any extra to use HSPA+, you’re thinking of Sprint who charges extra for their “4G” network. Anyone on any data plan can use the HSPA+ network.

    • http://www.facebook.com/MatthewSki Matthew Kalinowski

      what are u talking about

Users don’t pay extra for 4G speeds.

  • Exeggutor35

Even though Montgomery, AL is my hometown, I live now in the city of Mobile, the 2nd biggest city in the state and you know what, we still haven’t gotten 3g, heck hspa either..it is really becoming aggravating

    • Anonymous

Not to hate but…. Montgomery is still the biggest (in turns of populous) in the state but, Mobile isn’t far behind. That said, its still sad!

Who would thing that a city named Mobile doesn’t have great mobile service!

    • pnapoli

I work in the industry and I can tell you that this is due to the Air Force not releasing the AWS frequency band to T-Mobile. T-Mobile owns the Frequencies but they are being difficult. They have until 2012 to release it and plan on taking their time doing so. it is frustrating to say the least. The good news is that the network in Mobile and Pensacola is built and ready to be turned on with Ethernet back-haul the moment the Air Force relents and gives T-Mobile the go ahead on the frequency band. This is frustrating I know but be patient and it will come.

Got 3.18 down this morning at M59 and Hayes in Michigan at 6:45am on my G1.

    • http://twitter.com/Liquidslap Swan Dive!

Only 2.1mbps here at Detroit Metro Airport.

      • Mjharns1

Been getting between 1.2 and 2.5 during the morning in Auburn Hills now.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_Y52RJUDXPETEPEGM2EKDP4KWWA Von

There are a few spots in Detroit proper where you can crack 5Mbps down reliably. Strange thing is that I’m also getting a strong signal in buildings where I got ZERO signal before.

  • 16309A

New MyTouch 4G in the Philly ‘burbs. Gettin .04 up and .18 down. What a dissappointment.

  • Cubanito151

I am wondering if i will get hspa+ if i live 94 miles away from Lynchburg? Does it go that far?
