Android in the wild again?? Official name still up for grabs.

gphone-in-the-wild-1

I have to say the phone looks a little smaller than I would have first thought, then again this “google spy” as he is referred to via the link could just have overly large man hands. I have to think that these are the most clear “in the wild” shots we have seen yet. Am I jealous? Absolutely. Just keeping saying 4 more days, 4 more days.

The white looks cheap. I’m hoping black doesn’t disappoint.

  2. JimDog says:

    I can’t wait!!!!!!!!!!

  3. RS says:

thats cool. I actually like the white! its unique.

  4. TmoChicago says:

Damn all ya haters out there need to stop hating. This phone does look nice im getting it asap but in black. The phone is SMALL and typing over the chin doesn’t look too bad. What ya got to say bad about it now??

  5. I like the white, I actually wanted the black at 1st, and though the white looked ugly; but, this is sexy as hell, I want it. It’s as good as mine

  6. se30chris says:

Sept 23rd cannot come too soon right now…

  7. andrew g says:

The name I have heard from good sources is the G1. T-Mobile has stated publicly that we expect to have an Android device available for customers by the Holiday season. An official announcement is scheduled for September 23 in New York City. Detailed information about the product and its availability to customers will be available then.

  8. SheShe says:

    Is it the 23rd yer??,

  9. T1 Connect says:

    oh baby come to daddy

  10. holden says:

I can’t take it. This is NOT the phone. OK the phone will look like this … Holding it in fronto f you, looking at it, on the left will bottom corner will be a scroll wheel. Think Ipod style scroll wheel but not as large. To the right will be 4 soft touch keys stacked on each other. The screen will slide out and can be positioned up slightly. Under that will be the qwerty keyboard. THAT IS HOW THE PHONE WILL LOOK. VERY SLEEK. Remember this post on the 23rd :D :D :D

The name will be the TMO G1.

Features … well I have said too much already sorry :(

  11. holden says:

clarification, on the left bottom face of the phone not on the side or underneath for that scroll wheel i mentioned.

  12. T1 Connect says:

you know im starting to believe you

  13. laphoneuser says:

Where is the T-Mobile logo on this phone?

I don’t see it, and if I don’t see it, I have to question whether this is the actual phone.

  14. TmoChicago says:

I’m loving this phone so much and 3G is live in chicago by the 1st week of october I think TMO has done some justice

  15. Jeff says:

    I flipping want it!!!!!!!

  16. lancerevo says:

Isnt what holden just described exactly like one of the first photoshopped designs we saw that was supposed to be the dream that is in this pic right here. http://www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2007/03/google-survey-phone.jpg

  17. ACE says:

If you zoom in to the picture you can see a production code stamped on the bottom of the phone. It looks like the one seen in London. Can’t wait.

  18. T1 Connect says:

please dont let that phone in the link that lancervo pasted be it. i like the white one better

  19. GreenLeaf says:

this is not the final product. It doesn’t have any branding on the front. Look closely & you’ll see some weired no. “HT828QZ000…” at the bottom. This is a prototype of Dream for testing. But one thing’s for sure, if this proto can look this sexy (that too in white) just imagine the real Dream… This has me DREAMing. :)

  20. laphoneuser says:

    @lancerevo:

Now that design would be much more believable (to me) as what would be released. That falls in line with recent HTC designs WAY more than what we’ve been seeing all over the web.

  21. SheShe says:

The phone in the link looks 2 small

  22. Josh says:

Hey this is just a lil piece of info I came accross:

While the phone is targeted at the same sort of technology-savvy consumers who have been buying iPhones, it has a very different look and feel. It is expected to be heavier than the iPhone, according to people familiar with it, and it is likely to have a large touch screen, a swivel-out full keyboard and a BlackBerry-style trackball to help with navigation.

T-Mobile, a Deutsche TelekomAG unit, is expected to announce the phone Sept. 23, people familiar with the matter said. The device is due to hit stores as soon as the end of October, these people said. The phone’s pricing couldn’t be determined.

The phone’s manufacturer, HTC Corp., forecasts sales that are rosier than analysts’ estimates. HTC says it expects to ship 600,000 to 700,000 units of the smartphone, dubbed the Dream, this year, a person close to the situation said Monday. The target exceeds analysts’ estimates of 300,000 to 500,000.

  23. lancerevo says:

I personally like these pictures more that we have just received.. that photoshopped pic i posted was from almost a year ago i think.. I don’t know why everyone is bashing this phone.. i mean yes the touch pro hd is a better looking device but for me personally I’d rather have this one. It looks to have better functionality as many ppl have said before plus i think its a pretty good looking device.

  24. T1 Connect says:

i loved the touch pro when it came out but now it doesn’t fit tmobiles unique taste. with sprint, verizon, alltel, and at&crap getting it, tmobile always seems to take a different road when it comes to bandwagons. if they dont do it first they dont usually jump on it.

  25. domiiniicano says:

omg that phone is so damn sweet!! i want it i need it!

  26. TmoChicago says:

I must say I do agree with T1. That phone is ok but this white one is better and more believable man 4 more days come on

  27. TomCruise says:

looks better and my initial apprehension about the chin making typing inconvenient doesn’t stand ground anymore. man lets hope this is a start of sexy phones to come on tmobile US, just like tmobile UK.

I droooooooollllll everytime i visit tmobile UK site to see their phone selection.

  28. TmoChicago says:

Every1 not bashing the touchpro but I really think this phone is gonna bury the pro and any other phone we seen b4 sure the pro is sharp looking but this is in my eyes 1-2 steps behind but the software+apps are gonna make u forget that any other phone exist I believe so

  29. diordna says:

If it turns out anything close to the way it looks in the picture, I really like it!

I am actually leaning toward getting a brown one just to be a tad unique…too many black phones out there!

  30. T1 Connect says:

@tomcruise yoooooo i just looked at the tmobile uk site. i am freakin jelous. every phone has a front facing cam and wicked memory and best of all the pricing is dum cheap son.

  31. Massive says:

Phone looks great! According to the fcc specs, it’s only 4mm wider than my trace, and the same height, so the pic’s size is right on. I’ll learn to live with the extra thickness with all the great stuff this phone will be capable of :)

  32. tmorep says:

I don’t know how this phone can NOT be what the htc G1 will look like. In the developer conference where they demoed the finished product it looks just like this phone but in black. I do not see a scroll ball/wheel of any kind. So I feel that it is the phone unless you Holden are Dotson himself!

  33. laphoneuser says:

    @tmorep:

I’m not saying it’s NOT the G1, but it’s very possible that a large run of these “reference design” phones were made for testing, which would include the one at the developer’s conference.

I’m fine either way, as I have confidence that whatever it is, it will be great.

That being said, I’ll be very surprised if this DOES turn out to be the G1, which would mean that it’s been out in the open for quite some time now, and even on video being shown by Google execs!

Maybe they don’t care about secrecy the way some other companies do? Don’t know.

  34. laphoneuser says:

You know, I think I have to retract my skepticism that this is the actual G1. I just remembered about the FCC filings we saw a few weeks ago, which included sketches of the phone that’s in these photos.

Still, I’ll be baffled as to how open they were about showing this phone in public. A true “open” phone!

  35. T1 Connect says:

wait didn’t one of the weekly wrap ups say there were possibly two android phones

  36. SheShe says:

@t1 yea supposedly an all touch one

  37. T1 Connect says:

so holden might be right if he saw that other phone and the white one we’ve all seen then we might be in for a even bigger surprise than we think on tesday. come to think of it anyone here has a extra time machine i can borrow i need to fast forward something.

  38. PittsburghGuy says:

So whats the deal with this link on engadget?

    http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/09/19/g1-appears-on-t-mobiles-site/

  39. PittsburghGuy says:

Actually I guess that is legit – I logged on and tried…

  40. T1 Connect says:

yo its there its linkable but the link doesn’t work also not avail for upgrade.

  41. Kenji138 says:

I agree that the chin doesn’t look as intrusive as in the earlier pics. It actually looks like the phone would sit in a more sturdy manner in your hands.

I think I like this model better than the model in lancerevo’s link.

  42. bastos says:

if you closely, there’s a small caption that reads “screen and device images are simulated.”

  43. laphoneuser says:

    @bastos:

I was going to say the same thing.

  44. tfan says:

So there’s two android phones dropping for tmobile?

  45. edwin says:

ok so where is schenkp for this?
    NO WHERE! he was wrong!

  46. edwin says:

ok so i dont know how to edut on this one, so.
was i the only one to notice some lettering and numbers on the chin part of the phone?

  47. SheShe says:

Lol at edwin schenkp been wrong

  48. Brian says:

yes i cant wait four more days …………Dreaming

  49. encoreorv says:

I would love to c it n blk but honestly when the screen is pushed up the phone looks like a sdk u know that teenager phone.

  50. WazzuKirk says:

    I think I just got a chubby.
