Look, I do not think it is any real surprise that the Samsung Behold 2 was not exactly the wild seller. I cannot recall ever actually seeing anyone using it, at least not publicly. When shown against other T-Mobile Android options, the only real differentiator is the AMOLED screen. To some buyers that is not reason enough to purchase one, no matter how times the price drops. That being said, nothing says “buy me” like a $70 price drop as the Behold 2 will enjoy this coming weekend, February 12th-15th. Of course, if you are looking for a Valentine for that special someone, nothing says “I love you” like an Android phone. Seriously, someone tell my girlfriend that. Adding on to this deal is 50% off all Samsung Behold 2 accessories during the same February 12th-15th timeframe. There is no limit on the purchase quantity here, so if you were looking for multiple Valentine’s gifts, say for multiple dates, nothing says “I love you” like a silicon phone case. Hit the jump for a screenshot of the accessory sale!
Anyone planning to pick this up? Anyone? Bueller?

Lately T-Mobile hasn’t given much in the way discounts for those of you that are enrolled in the Even More Plus plans, and buying your handset at full retail price. Well here is some good news thanks to one of our trusty ninjas! Beginning February 3rd, T-Mobile is reducing the retail price/contract price for a number of handsets. The following prices are effective starting February 3rd:
*Samsung Behold 2: $149.99 (2 Year Contract Price), $379.99 (Retail Price, was $399.99)
*Motorola W233 Renew: $0.00 (2 Year Contract Price, was $49.99), $49.99 (Retail Price)
*Nokia 5130: $19.99 (2 Year Contract Price, was $29.99), $109.99 (Retail Price)
*T-Mobile Sidekick 2008: $29.99 (2 Year Contract Price, was $49.99), $199.99 (Retail Price, was $249.99)
None of these phones are all that exciting and I think its safe to say that T-Mobile stores won’t expect to run dry if one of these suits your fancy!

Following up our leak from yesterday, it looks like the new Partial Upgrade Pricing Discounts will officially go into effect tomorrow and not January 29 as stated previously. Basically, beginning January 27, customers can upgrade their smartphone every year for the same price as new customers. In addition, customers with voice and text phones can also upgrade to a smartphone at month 12 of their contract for the new customer price. Additional discounting periods are also launching for customers with 1-11 months of service and 12-21 months. As we stated before, the “Early Upgrade Discount” consists of Tier 1, which will require 1-11 months of active service on a $29.99 or higher individual rate plan or a $49.99 or higher individual family rate plan. Also you must have 1-11 months since the last discounted handset purchase. On the other hand, the “Early Upgrade Plus” which consists of Tier 2, will require 12-21 active months on a $29.99 or higher individual plan or a $49.99 or higher individual family rate plan. For the “Early Upgrade Plus” you must have 12-21 months since the last discounted handset purchase. But here is something to take note of. Smartphones will qualify for a full discount pricing at the “Early Upgrade Plus” level.
Customers on a 1-year contract agreement, are not eligible for the partial discounts. Obviously, since this requires a contract agreement, Even More Plus customers are not able to take advantage of the partial discounts as they have to pay the full retail cost for their handsets. Puerto Rico customers, these changes will be implemented on February 3rd.

NOTE: This is for Partial Upgrade Pricing ONLY. The regular upgrade pricing terms still remain the same. For all upgrades after 21 months, systems will show the full upgrade price for all devices.
UPDATE: A list of eligible smartphones for the full discount and a short Q&A after the jump!
UPDATE 2: We have removed the myTouch 3G example as some people are coming back and saying it may not actually be what users are seeing. We’ll update you guys when we get more info! Stay tuned!

For those of you with an Android phone, you may have found it a bit difficult to sync any, and all, media to your phone (especially if you are tied into that iTunes ecosystem). Well, T-Mobile really understands that and is embarking on a campaign to bring an app that syncs media to Android phones. The answer, DoubleTwist, which is basically an iTunes for every other device, plus it looks like it so no relearning. It is being said that T-Mobile is partnering with DoubleTwist to pre-load the software onto upcoming Android phones, and not just limiting it to the Fender MyTouch. Hey it’s a Monday, it’s a Holiday and it’s a slow a news day. So since we’re selling ourselves, our dignity and our wall space today why not bring in a little FAIL fun. This little piece of goodness comes from someone visiting the Entertainment section of Walmart and noticing that the Behold is really the Highlight! Like magic! Sadly just a simple error and easily fixed but anything that involves that words Walmart and Fail are always fun to read. I guess I’m just feeling sarcastic today. Enjoy!
If you haven’t been to Peopleofwalmart.com, I suggest going there and preparing to laugh harder than ever imagined.

Frankly stated, the T-Mobile Tap is among the worst phones I have ever had the displeasure of using. There really is little positive to say about this device and, while I can’t say I’m truthfully surprised, I was hoping to come up with at least one thing that I actually liked about this phone. All I can think of is the form factor. What appears at first glance to be a copycat of the Samsung Highlight actually comes off being exactly that.

In an effort to show their support for Android, and maybe even future devices, T-Mobile is sending out an add-on to the Android Market. This section of the Android Market will house “a variety of innovative applications that help customers customize their device and manage their T-Mobile account.” Yes, I know, that sounds a lot like the App Pack from the myTouch. Either way, this looks like a good place to start your Android adventure. Well, it is, just for all Android phones. The catch? You need to be running Android 1.6 to get to this predetermined app section, so Cliq and Behold 2 owners will just need to sit tight. More pictures and a list of Apps after the break. Tell us what you think in the comments!

Hi, I’m Nicole aka @c0z, the Associate Editor of AndroidGuys. I’ve also been the Copy Editor of Tmonews for a while now, but that’s all behind the scenes stuff. I finally decided to post something, I hope you don’t hate it!
Please note: These opinions are mine and don’t reflect the opinions of Tmone–no wait, they actually do–so here we go…
Oh T-Mobile, you have so many loyal fans. This site alone is an attestation to that fact, for sure. However, there is one area in which your followers are very disappointed with your performance: the acquisition of new, awesome Android devices. Surely you have noticed that the Android community is expanding at an unremittingly fast rate, and hopefully you realize that many of your customers want options when it comes to smartphones. How about rounding up a whole new collection of those snazzy new Android devices for your oogly-eyed customer base? As mentioned in an earlier article, geek interest is paramount to your success!
I personally love my T-Mobile service but I must admit that the limitations of RAM on a stock G1 can be quite cumbersome (especially to anyone who loves to play with apps and isn’t advanced enough to use root access (not me!)). And that’s the point of having an Android device, right? To play with apps? When the myTouch 3G came along I was happy to welcome it (aside from it lacking a QWERTY, one of my personal requirements), but even that campaign is starting to grow a bit jaded. At least the mT3G’s physical form was a step in the right direction. The introduction of the Cliq is still something I’m trying to forget, and I’d have to say that the Behold II gets bundled with those same sentiments. After hearing the Xperia X10 might be going to another carrier, I started losing hope for T-Mobile’s ability to acquire the next big Android device. However, it looks like hope is making its way back to the horizon with the rumor of the Google Phone/Nexus One coming to T-Mobile. While that is definitely progress and will whet the appetites of the geeks, let’s not stop there, okay? T-Mobile, how about you make your New Year’s resolution to provide more top-end Android devices to your loyal fans? We’re counting on you…
What do you guys think? Is the Google Phone being on T-Mobile’s network enough for you? Do you think T-Mobile needs more game-changing Android handsets to keep up with other carriers?

Congratulations go out to Behold22, one of the winners of the Samsung Behold 2 contest and one of our forum regulars. What originally was a too good to be true contest through Samsung with hourly winners had quickly turned into speculation regarding its authenticity. Well question no more as the winners have started receiving their devices along with a lovely letter that points out the need for being a T-Mobile customer to use this device. I wonder how many people entered only to learn that they had to be with T-Mobile?!
Congratulations go out to all the winners and thanks Behold22 for posting the winning pictures on the forum!
