DSC00327

T-Mobile’s event is still hitting hard, but they’ve made two very special announcements regarding two very special phones. T-Mobile’s just announced the HTC One will be “coming soon” for $99 down payment. As for that “other” special Android device — the Galaxy S 4, that’s coming May 1st for an unknown price, smart money is also on $99 down.

change your headline. Its deceiving! $99 DOWN!

    • Guest

I don’t think anyone would really think that they could buy a HTC One for $99… At least, I hope not.

  • cream

    Awesome

  • RaverCWB

What those people who where waiting to upgrade and that now lost their upgrades just like me? I am not staying with T-mo anymore…..
    They cheated on long-term customers.
Plus, they are making us pay for full price on the phones and still are loading them with un-installable bloatware.
Congratulations T-Mobile you just digged your own grave!!!

    • Jerry Sciacchitano

Don’t pout and cry before you understand the new plans. With the new plans you wouldn’t want to stay on your old plan. Go to a store and someone will show you how the new plans benefit you better than the old ones.

      • tmodad

For what I use, my current “plan” is cheaper than the new offerings.

    • thepanttherlady

Last I heard you’re still able to upgrade through retail and 3rd party locations. Did that change?

      • RaverCWB

I wasn’t able to on my.t-mobile.com account. It’s not even giving me the finance plan.

        • HRoth_Gar

Yeah, nowhere that is actually t-mobile will sell the old phone pricing, but best buy, costco, and the like will, just go there for your discounts.

        • thepanttherlady

If you’re on the Classic plan, financing is not an option. It’s only for Value plan customers.

        • notTrue

          This is not true

        • thepanttherlady

          Here you go:

EIP is not available with prepaid, some Business account types, and Classic plans.

          http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-1674

    • John smith

You can still receive a discount but only in third party stores like Costco, bestbuy.etc

    • Andy Rheaume

Do your research. You will do a bridge to.value upgrade. Its less over two years. stop thinking of an upgrade as a good thing you will pay more over 2 years.

      • RaverCWB

I have an old plan and AAA discount, I only pay 72 a month for all unlimited, now I’d have to pay 90 a month……

        • briankh

Unlimited talk text and data are $70+tax and you should still qualify for your discount. I did. I get an 18% discount on my plan.

    • scottmog

The newer plans are better anyways… but I do understand why you feel that way.

    • tmodad

That is not true. Long term customers are not being cheated. You may be paying “full price” for your phone but ask for the discount on the service side of your bill.

    • MatthewMurawski

I’m getting irritated with all these contract customers complaining. You signed a contract that you’d be locked for two years. You weren’t forced to sign it, so now you must fulfill it. If you didn’t want to be locked in to classic for two years, you should’ve never went into the contract.

      • UncleFan

If you think being locked into a Classic plan is bad, just wait until people who sign a 2 year EIP find out that T-Mobile can now RAISE their rates at any time because the contract is only for the phone and not the service plan…

  • thepanttherlady

One thing that should probably also be noted is that it is on approved credit. Not everyone will qualify for the $99 down.

    • mattcat03

I called a rep and acctualy they said it’s not based on your credit. However, delinquent on paying your Tmobile bill logically would be considered.

      • iknowstuff

it is based on credit 100% gauranteed

        • Andrew Velasco

Actually its based on your mobile history (similar to chex systems that banks use when you open an account). If you have good payment history with your current/past carriers, then you can have crappy credit and still get the $99 down.

        • thepanttherlady

My daughter has been with T-Mobile for 20 months & never paid a bill late (I actually pay the bill so I know).

She has no credit and is required to pay $250 down.

        • MadJoe

Your post tells us nothing except that you have the irrational belief that 20 months is a long time to be with a carrier, or to have been on time with payments.

        • thepanttherlady

My post is in direct response to Andrew. If you don’t understand it, that’s fine.

        • T-Mobile Guy

I work For T-Mobile it is based of your credit. Credit Class A,B,C pay $99 down and everything else pays the Not well Qualified Price.

        • thepanttherlady

Thank you for the clarification. :)

  • Noel

Let the stampede over to Tmo from the other carriers commence…this is what ATT was afraid of all along (main reason behind trying to swallow Tmo with excess billions in the failed buyout). The $99 down for these marquee devices and $20 each month for 24 month make it affordable to many who won’t have the cash to buy it out right. So if you want a new device every year…just pay off the balance and grab a new model. Way to go Tmo…now there is something for everyone, Android devices galore, IOS, the new Blackberry, Windows devices etc

    • JJCommonSense

which is exactly what I plan to do.. especially since I can sell my 1year old phone to gazelle or buy back world and probably get enough to cover the payoff of the old phone.

  • tmorep

    game over.

  • Whiteguy

T-Mobile is making nose now. #3 by end of year, exciting times for all involved. Iphone and these 2 powerhouses is setting the tone combine with the new rate plans. Verizon At&t beware!!!!!

    • http://profiles.google.com/mrice.hill Mr. Hill

Haha, not number 3. It will take longer than a year.

  • JaswinderSinghJammu

People with bad credit, just need a bigger down payment is all, just like people with bad credit buying anything else. T Mobile isn’t charity after all. May be they can put up a church at their head quarters and get tax exempt, not for profit recognition….ROFL

    • calluout

      exactly

  • mdosu

Holy cow! news onslaught from TMONEWS today! lol. LTE, Iphone5, now this…David, you’ll sleep well tonight.

  • James

To people with bad credit…..buy the phone at full price and pay only about 50 dollars per month!

    • Garrett

Or just pay a little bit more for the down payment…

  • achusaysblessyou

    Hmm, will it be $99 + $20×20 months… or $99 + $20×24 months…

I’d be interested if it were $99 + $20×20 months… that means I can just pay $500 up front… which is much more reasonable than the $650 + tax I paid for my Note II…

    • TMREPKC

      It’s 24 mo

  • BigMixxx

    Best lineup in the business…

    T mobile is pulling a 2 chainz: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2QKlmMT8II

  • Nick Gonzalez

I’m loving the $99 down for the One more than the other news. Word!
    LTE is a close second.

  • RetroVertigo

Just curious as to what happens to people already locked into a contract, there should also be loyalty incentives.

  • http://knightofscorpio.tumblr.com/ DtheArtist

I didn’t even know this comment went through. Welp, I changed it. Never saw it appear when I 1st posted it, nor later.

  • http://knightofscorpio.tumblr.com/ DtheArtist

Can’t wait. Got my money ready and all

    • MatthewMurawski

We’re getting all of the iterations (white, black, 16 GB, 32 GB, 64 GB). I don’t see why we wouldn’t. Both the quad core snapdragon 600 variants.

      • http://www.facebook.com/HiJoshh Josh Skye

because with the gs3, we only got up to 32 gb. i want 64 baaaad

  • Impatient Waiter

May 1st?!?! that’s literally forever from now!!! I’ve been waiting since November 11th!!!! GAH!

    • MatthewMurawski

That’s soon compared to previous Samsung launches. About 7 weeks after the unveiling.

  • tmodad

Will be nice to see what the down is for the S3. As a long time customer near the end of my contract, it is nice to keep the service level that I have and look forward to new phones.

    • JungleJunkie

      It’s $69 down

    • tmodad

      Oops… I meant S4.

  • Trevnerdio

    That phone…it’s gorgeous.

  • http://www.facebook.com/moses.jc.77 Moses JC

Bad credit & sometimes just different credit … Foreign visa customers with no deposit still pay more down.

    • http://www.facebook.com/unfazedrebel Jé Be (Here but Gone)

      Hey moses

  • Wisdom

Yeah, my credit is good to go, but I cannot make my mind up yet right now … Should I go with the Galaxy S4 or wait for the Galaxy Note 3 (Tray) …?

  • Randall Lind

Why is it taken so long for HTC one they launch it last month right? Screw it HTC sucks if they can’t get their phones to market after launching it last month. what are the specs? Come on they should at least tell us the specs. I am guessing Apple told T-Mobile to delay all new phones until they launch the icrap 5.

    • http://profiles.google.com/mrice.hill Mr. Hill

They don’t need to. The iPhone 5 will easily outsell every other phone T-Mobile offers without much additional effort from Apple.

      • Randall Lind

I seen my friends iphone and not taking trash but I don’t see the big deal. It is alright nothing magically.
