Samsung Vibrant Update Coming Soon

T-Mobile executives speaking at a press breakfast this morning stated that a Samsung Vibrant update is coming “very soon”.  T-Mobile is working as hard as possible to get Android updates out in a timely fashion, Cole Brodman, T-Mobile CMO stated.  One issue that was causing a hold up is the addition of features like Wi-Fi calling.  No specific date was given.

I don’t believe anything they say. Talk is cheap and we’ve been hearing it for months…back it up with ACTION. I’m also tired of these multi-billion dollar companies claiming “issues” when developers over on XDA can have new stable ROMS usually in weeks…including WiFi calling.

Agree. T-mobile and Samsung need to hire Team Whiskey and all the other developers from XDA. Also funny how many posts refer to XDA on the T-mobile support forums. :)

That would be awsome to have TW on board! You gotta wonder who TMO has working on their ROMs. I picture “Hey you, do you know how to write computer code? Uhh… C colon backsla-OK we need you to put some bloatware on this Google OS and have it done in the coming weeks!”

The main difference here is people can’t legally hold TW liable if their phone bricks. I’m on board with the “This is taking way to long” train, but I understand why it would be harder.

Too late to get them out in a timely fashion but I’m sure the non geeks will be very excited to get all the 2.2 and T-Mobile added on features. Oh and Very Soon would be in 2-3 weeks IMO.

OMG! I can’t believe that T-Mobile’s CMO Cole Brodman actually used that as an example, Wi-Fi calling holding up the upgrade? This guy and T-Mobile must think all customers are stupid. Just when I thought Samsung was the real culprit, here is T-Mobile caught up in the lie. Wow!

There is nothing timely about this update. Timely would have been two-three months after the phone was released.

Even if this stupid freaking update comes today, I WILL NEVER BUY Samsung again.. The way samsung and t-mobile have treated all the customers is highly upsetting…Just to think that i made over $300 for the peice of crap the first day it came out is even more upsetting. SAMSUNG= NEVER AGAIN
I will also go out of my way to make sure the people i know dont buy one already.

There is no way a 2.2 update can be “timely” at this point.

T-Mobile’s best course of action here would be to mea culpa to their slow updates, then release a Gingerbread rom for the Vibrant, which would instantly regain customer confidence.

I have no particular quarrel with Samsung except for the GPS issues, but I will most likely spend the money for an un branded, Google developer phone next time to insure I am not waiting around for the carrier.

    • Mikhadaddy

Here is the thing.. At this point the update is pointless because they have really upset all the customers, and made them lose all confidence.. The vibrant does not work like it should. Stupid avatar does not load anymore, gps does not work, calendar does not sync correctly because im always on edge network. At this point they need to send everyone gingerbread of upgrade these crappy phones.

      • ctkatz

all the customers? so i’m sure that you have asked every single vibrant owner if they are mad they didn’t get the froyo update.

really? i’m not upset. frankly whether or not the vibrant had froyo, THE PHONE WORKED. that’s all i ask for. if i really REALLY wanted froyo and i didn’t get it from official means, well that’s what teh google is for.

good for them releasing the official update. all it means for me is that i have a base to go back to should i not like any of the roms that i know will work without having to reflash something else.

“…Samsung sent its base 2.2 upgrade to T-Mobile in late November…” that is over 7 weeks ago then. IF T_Mobile does not wish to lose (MORE) customers fire this guy. As wifi calling has been out for months and T-Mobile can’t seem to get it to work AND refused to use the XDA folks to help. Honor, speak the facts, not BS%%##%….Leaving if this guy is still working for them can not trust anything he says from this point forward, He said WEEKS to get it everyone – just post it and let folks download it if they want

Here is the thing Anthony, What made it insult to injury was that they lied about whats really going on.. Wifi calling is the best you can come up with? come one now. You have delayed the stinking updates for MONTHS and all you can say is that the delay is because of wifi calling.. The stupid phone cant give you gps maps correctly and you are worried about wifi calling.

    Bout f@#kin time!

Samsung sent its base 2.2 upgrade to T-Mobile in late November after stating “SOON” back in JULY (4 months is not soon folks) and now T-mobile after being forced to speak-up that they have had it for over 7 weeks. Guess CUSTOMER angry postings got their attention to lie some more, wifi calling has been out for a very LONG time at XDA (keeping with their model not to say the specific amount of time). FIRE THIS GUY and maybe Management will wake-up, if it does not hurt, put fear in the folks deciding, they will not doing anything until it effects them. If we keep protesting MAYBE heads will roll and they will stop treating customers so poorly.

I couldn’t care less about WiFi calling. They could have rolled out a 2.2 upgrade without it and then added it after and had a lot more happy customers.

Thats a bunch of bull. What updates? Oh right, a new samsung 4g phone for us to buy to get an update thats what. How about tmobile just pay for the U.S vibrants to get 2.2 so all of us dont have to root and risk bricking.
