Right after a stretch of genuinely good T-Mobile news, new perk options possibly on the way, the Jio 5G standalone roaming milestone, here comes the part of the cycle where the bill creeps up a little. T-Mobile is emailing customers about another increase to the Regulatory Programs and Telco Recovery fee.
Per Android Authority, the fee is climbing to $5.49 per line for voice and $2.60 per line for mobile internet, a $1 bump for voice lines and $0.50 for mobile internet lines. If you’re not familiar with what this fee actually covers, it’s T-Mobile’s way of passing along compliance costs tied to things like E911, plus charges other carriers bill T-Mobile for delivering calls across networks. It’s not exactly a fee anyone loves seeing, but it’s also not new; it’s been climbing for a while now.
Here’s the part that’s going to annoy people with Price Lock: since this fee sits outside your actual plan price rather than being baked into it, the increase hits everyone, five-year Price Lock guarantee or not.
T-Mobile has leaned hard on Price Lock in its marketing as a reason to trust that your bill won’t move, so seeing a fee tick up anyway, for the second time in 2026, is going to feel like a technicality to plenty of longtime customers even if it’s technically accurate to how the guarantee was always structured.
The change goes into effect October 12, so keep an eye on your next statement, especially if you’ve got multiple lines on the account. It’s a small hit individually, but it adds up fast for bigger family plans, and it’s a good reminder to actually read the fine print on what “price lock” does and doesn’t cover.
