Earlier this morning, Nokia announced that it will release another budget-friendly Windows Phone device. The Nokia Lumia 530 is seen as the perfect successor to the 521, and will be available on T-mobile later this summer.
Its feature list includes:
- 4-inch, 854×480 resolution LCD display (246ppi)
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 200, 1.2GHz quad-core processor
- 5MP camera
- 4GB storage
- Expandable memory up to 128GB
- 512MB RAM
- 15GB free cloud storage
- 1420mAh battery
The most notable absence on the feature list is LTE. It’s not compatible with any band of LTE. Data network specs read as follows:
- WCDMA network: 900 MHz, 2100 MHz
- WCDMA max data speed DL: HSDPA – 21.1 Mbps
- WCDMA max data speed UL: HSUPA – 5.76 Mbps
- GSM network: 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz
- GSM max data speed DL: EGPRS 236.8 kbps
- GSM max data speed UL: EGPRS 236.8 kbps
Along with the Lumia 630, the device ships with Windows Phone 8.1, arguably the most exciting version of WP yet. It features the Cortana digital assistant, Word Flow keyboard, Action Center as well as wallpapers on the home screen.
As of right now, no U.S. pricing has been announced. But in the European market, it’s been marketed specifically for the sub €100 price point, suggesting we’ll see it come in under $100 full retail price in the States.
