Magenta fam, this one stings a little. A new reader poll asked whether T-Mobile is still worth it in 2026, and most voters said it’s lost the Un-carrier edge that made so many of us switch in the first place.
Android Authority ran the poll and shared the results on November 4. Out of 1,423 votes, 53% said “No, not really,” and only 13% went with “Yes, absolutely!” The most telling number might be the other 33%, who said T-Mobile is worth it only if you’re holding on to a legacy plan.
If you’ve been around since the John Legere days, you know where this is coming from. Taxes and fees included in your price, a price lock you could count on, and plans you could keep for years were all part of what made T-Mobile different. Since Legere stepped down in 2020, a lot of that has been scaled back.
Some commenters said price increases or being moved off older plans pushed them out the door. Others said they’re sticking around because three lines still cost less than elsewhere and perks like Netflix and regular phone upgrades are hard to give up.
T-Mobile’s latest answer is T-Mix, which swaps the old perk bundles for Picks you choose yourself. Plenty of us had questions when it launched, as we covered when T-Mobile finally announced T-Mix without a price lock or a free third line. On the plus side, T-Mobile still leads in 5G coverage, and Ookla has named it the best mobile network overall.
One online poll doesn’t settle anything, and unhappy customers tend to be the loudest. But it’s a clear signal that the network alone isn’t enough to keep people feeling good about their carrier.
If you’re on a legacy plan, think carefully before switching to something new. And if you’ve moved to T-Mix, do the math on your Picks to make sure you’re getting your money’s worth. Where do you land? Is T-Mobile still the Un-carrier for you?
