T-Mobile hit with international roaming outage

UPDATE 2: After an outage that lasted several hours, it looks like service has been restored for T-Mobile customers traveling internationally.

UPDATE: T-Mobile has told me that it’s aware of the issue and that its engineers are working to resolve it.

Looks like T-Mobile’s weekend is off to a bit of a rocky start.

T-Mobile appears to be suffering from an international roaming outage. Many customers on Twitter and Reddit say they’re without service and have been so for several hours.

The issue is affecting customers in several spots around the globe. T-Mobile customers have checked in from Germany, France, Ireland, Hungary, Italy, Israel, Japan, Portugal, the U.K., Colombia, and Singapore.

T-Mobile hasn’t made any official announcements regarding this issue, but one support rep said on Twitter that T-Mo is “experiencing an outage” and that there are “engineers and technicians working on it as fast as they can.” I’ve reached out to T-Mobile for more info and will update this post when I hear back.

It’s frustrating when you’re traveling abroad and expect to have service to help you stay connected and find your way around, only to suddenly have to rely on Wi-Fi to get online. At least now any T-Mobile customers who are having connectivity issues overseas know that the issue is with the network and not their device.

Thanks, Ryan!
