T-Mobile Galaxy S7 receiving July security update

galaxys7front

UPDATE: T-Mobile has now updated its GS7 and GS7 edge support pages to say that both phones are getting updates starting today, July 8, and that the updates will be rolling out through July 22.

Samsung Galaxy S7 owners, the time to update has come again.

T-Mobile is now pushing the July 1 security update to its Galaxy S7. Normally we see the GS7 and GS7 edge receive updates at the same time, but I haven’t been able to find any GS7 edge owners reporting that they’re getting an update. So if you’ve got a GS7 edge and are getting an update this morning, give me a shout.

As for the Galaxy S7, its update weighs in at 340MB, and it brings the phone up to the July 1 security patch level. T-Mo doesn’t appear to have updated its S7 and S7 edge support pages with info on the July security update.

If you’ve got an S7 or S7 edge, you can manually check for an update by going into Settings > About device > Download updates manually > OK > Start. And you should keep an eye out for your July security update, because it’s important to keep your phone — the device that holds your personal info — secure.
