While these devices won’t be all that we will see from T-Mobile this holiday season, (myTouch4G anyone?) T-Mobile has announced that four Android devices will be priced under $100 this holiday season. There is little surprise here as all of these phones have been individually announced and the Motorola Charm has been available for some time. However, it’s nice to see T-Mobile remember that times are tough and that plenty of customers will be budget conscious this holiday season.
Affordable Android
T-Mobile is planning to offer a variety of new Android™ smartphones for less than $100, including:
- T-Mobile® Comet™ will be available beginning Nov. 3 for $9.99 after a $50 mail-in-rebate with a two-year service agreement and qualifying data plan. It will also be available as a prepaid Android smartphone at Best Buy, Radio Shack and Target for less than $200 (plus taxes and fees).
- LG Optimus T™ with Google™ will be available starting Nov. 3 for $29.99 after a $50 mail-in-rebate with a two-year service agreement and qualifying data plan.
- Motorola CHARM with MOTOBLUR is available for $49.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a two year service agreement and qualifying data plan.
- Motorola DEFY™ with MOTOBLUR™ will be available for $99.99 after a $50 mail-in-rebate with a two-year service agreement and qualifying data plan.
That’s not all as T-Mobile has also announced the introduction of two brand new data plans this holiday season. No surprise here as both plans line up exactly with the leaked details we received a few days back. Though we admit to a little head scratching here as we had some pretty solid info that the 200MB smartphone offering was pushed back.
Low-Cost Data Service
In addition to affordable Android-powered smartphones, T-Mobile is delivering new low-cost data service plans expected to be available this holiday season, making data even more accessible for families. New value offers include these:
- Mobile data plans. With T-Mobile data plans, customers will have two options for data: the Web – 200MB plan or the Web – Unlimited plan. The Web – 200 MB plan will be available for $10 per month with a new two-year service agreement for a limited time or for $15 per month, which will not require a contract. The Web – Unlimited plan will be available for $30 per month. Both data plans will be sold paired with a voice and text message plan.
- Tethering and Wi-Fi Sharing service plan. T-Mobile is offering a new tethering service plan that enables select smartphones to function as wireless modems for connecting devices, such as laptops, tablets and netbooks, to the Internet through the T-Mobile network. Customers can add the Tethering and Wi-Fi Sharing plan to their Web – Unlimited $30 monthly plan for an additional $14.99 per month.
Of course as mentioned above this isn’t all we can expect from our beloved Magenta this holiday season with a bevy of devices designed to meet the needs of every budget and every wish. The HTC HD7, Blackberry Bold 9780, T-Mobile G2, myTouch4G and the Samsung Galaxy Tab will all find themselves available for your buying pleasure this holiday season.
