Motorola VP: Moto X Developer Editions “Rolling Out In Days”

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t still disappointed that T-Mobile didn’t pick up its own “branded” edition of the Moto X. I’ve been using an AT&T model for the past 10 days or so and…I love it. It’s size, its feel in the hand, it’s glorious. Sure, for spec-heads it won’t compare pound-for-pound against the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S 4 and HTC One on paper. Then there’s the questionable camera which many reviewers believe is hurt by software issues that can be fixed by the company at any time.

Still, this is my favorite Android device ever, it’s everything I want in a device from a size and hardware outlook. Take a 4.7″ display and put it into a package not much larger than a 4.3″ or dare I say a 4″ size smartphone and you’ve got a winning formula.

That’s why I’m happy to hear Punit Soni, Motorola’s Vice President and Product Manager say that Step 1 of the Moto X rollout includes dev editions rolling out in days. As T-Mobile won’t have its own model, we can only hope that one of these dev editions will have all the necessary bands to make T-Mobile customers happy on both HSPA+ and LTE. Are the developer editions the same models we’re expecting to see on sale through Google Play or will they only be available from Motorola? That leaves us with some unanswered questions, especially as T-Mobile customers with no guaranteed carrier availability.

Regardless of the when, I’d strongly urge you to consider the Moto X and that’s something I’ll definitely get across as soon my as review goes live.
