T-Mobile CEO John Legere, Best Twitter Account In Wireless?

Ok, if you had the chance to sit down one-on-one with T-Mobile CEO John Legere, you might ask for better phones, (even) cheaper rate, improved service or something else you want T-Mobile to do better. Still, if you’re a social media junkie like me you might recognize that Legere has quickly become the most interesting and active wireless executives in recent memory. With the knowledge that I doubt we’ll ever see Dan Hesse … [read full article]

T-Mobile Challenging Verizon In Brand Perception According To Research Firm

According to data from at least one research firm, T-Mobile’s rebranding as the “Un-carrier” is working and working well. Research firm YouGov found for the first time since it began tracking this type of data one year ago, that smartphone users are more likely to switch to T-Mobile than Verizon. YouGov’s “BrandIndex Buzz score” shows that T-Mobile has surpassed Verizon at least twice in the last four months. Ultimately, part of T-Mobile’s success … [read full article]

Verizon Set To Introduce JUMP!, Call It “VZ Edge” Instead

In a move that will have T-Mobile customers screaming “we had it first,” Verizon Wireless looks set to introduce “VZ Edge,” their own early upgrade plan for customers. In simple terms, Verizon will allow customers to upgrade their devices more often to “stay on the leading edge of technology.” The boys at Droid-Life got their hands on a slide right out of a Verizon training session highlighting customers ability to upgrade to a … [read full article]

Petition To End Verizon Wireless Contracts, Adopt T-Mobile-Style Approach Nears 100,000 Signatures

As Verizon changes its policies for the worse with lengthier timeframes to upgrade, customers are fighting back and petitioning the company to drop contracts altogether. Using T-Mobile’s new Simple Choice approach as a basis for the argument, Mike Beauchamp is gathering signatures by the truckload. In one sense, Verizon is already taking at least a step in the right direction even as they extend upgrade rules by allowing device payment plans … [read full article]

As T-Mobile Drops Contracts, Verizon Moves In The Opposite Direction

Editors Note: So here’s a story that just hit the wires and it made me think about why I love T-Mobile’s new UNcarrier program…because they aren’t trying to behave like Verizon.  With the release of T-Mobile’s Simple Choice plans, immediate feedback has been mostly positive, though I admit there’s been a decent amount of confusion as well. Still, as T-Mobile simplifies their rate plan choices with a one-size fits all plan … [read full article]

If you’re a person who believes that an unlimited data plan is a beautiful thing, Verizon’s Chief Financial Officer Fran Shammo thinks you should know better. Speaking at an investor conference yesterday, Shammo claimed that “unlimited” is just a word causing a brief uproar around the internet. In fact, Shammo says: So what customers are understanding and through our good sales routine is once you explain to a customer their usage on a monthly … [read full article]

New Root Metric Study Says T-Mobile HSPA+ Shouldn’t Be Lost In “LTE Shuffle”

The good folks at RootMetrics are back with another network study breakdown spanning 75 markets, 100,000 miles and 500,000 driven and indoor data tests to find the very best in wireless data service. I’ll jump right to the conclusion and let you all in on how T-Mobile performed: T-Mobile, meanwhile, often recorded download speeds that were closer to LTE speeds than you might expect and was very close to AT&T in overall performance. … [read full article]

Newest Verizon Marketing Spot Pokes Fun At T-Mobile’s Non-Existent LTE Network

Verizon’s newest marketing spot is definitely taking some cheap shots at T-Mobile’s nonexistent LTE network. Verizon calls this a “focus group” which is probably better known as a group of low-paid actors but hey, I can’t say that for certain. Still, Verizon does have the nation’s largest LTE network, nobody is disputing that and they arguably have one of the best networks, period. Still, I can’t help but notice the absence of any … [read full article]
