T-Mobile Data Outage Going On For Nexus One Users?

oh_no_you_didnt

Update: Pretty confident this problem is limited to Nexus One users only as other T-Mobile devices seem to be working without problem. Wonder where the finger is getting pointed…

Update 2: Users are reporting the problem as solved and all systems normal. If data is still down, try rebooting your handset.

Word coming out of the Google Nexus One support forums as well as my inbox indicates some Nexus One users are experiencing a data network outage. We’re trying to confirm this with our sources as we’re only about an hour in, but drop word below if you are having trouble! Details to come as we get them!

Question Of The Day

cell-phone-booth

I  know I can’t speak for all of our readers, but I never really realize how much I count on my cell phone until outages  like yesterday. That being said, I’m loyal to a carrier as I try and recognize that stuff happens, it’s almost always an inconvenience, but it happens.  So the question I pose to you, is do instances like yesterday influence your decision to switch carriers? I pose this question as we saw another outage for Blackberry customers as the BIS service went down nationwide. While there were random instances of people swearing off Blackberry, in most cases people forgive, forget and go about their day. So I ask you dearest readers:

Will instances like yesterday’s outage force you to switch away from our dear Magenta to another carrier?

UPDATED:Oh No–Another T-Mobile Nationwide Outage?

UPDATE 2: Via twitter, T-Mobile reports all services are restored: We are pleased to report that we have fixed the equipment malfunction. Full service has been restored. We apologize for the inconvenience

Reports are coming in of  a possible T-Mobile outage. One of our connects filled us in with the details and it looks like subscribers in the Southeastern region are mostly affected. If you can recall, the last time T-Mobile had one of these outages, both Data/Calling features were down. Most of the reports we have received include a mix of both data and calling features being affected. Could this possibly have something to do with the HSPA 7.2Mbps upgrade that T-Mobile will be rolling out before the end of this year?!? I sure hope so!

Are your calling/data features working? Let us know in the comments!

UPDATE 1: T-Mobile is aware of the situation and has their “Rapid Response Teams” working on the problem. They have identified the problem as an “Equipment Malfunction”…HSPA 7.2Mbps anyone? Service has been restored to the majority of subscribers, with the exception of some customers in Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia which may still be experiencing service disruptions.

Official statement from T-Mobile below:

Some T-Mobile customers in the Southeastern United States and Puerto Rico experienced intermittent service degradation for voice and data services earlier today. T-Mobile has identified the equipment malfunction and service has been restored for the majority of customers. Some customers in Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia may still be experiencing service disruptions while T-Mobile continues to work to restore service as quickly as possible. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience to impacted customers in the region.

Blackberry Internet Down

BIS Outage!

There is just no end to the faults of technology, but we can’t live without it now, right?  Well, anyways, more outages are occurring, but this time in a global fashion.  It appears that Blackberry’s Internet Service (BIS) is down around the globe and isn’t localized to a specific carrier.  For those of you with shiny 9700s, I am truly sorry, you will just need to hang tight and wait to fully experience it.  Leave your thoughts in the comments!

T-Mobile Explains The Reason Behind Nationwide Outage

funny-pictures-this-is-the-real-reason-youre-late-for-work

Okay by now I think we all are aware of the nationwide outage that occurred on Tuesday November 3rd. Today T-Mobile issued a new statement to the public as to what caused the nationwide outage. To summarize, T-Mobile investigated the cause behind the outage and claim that the culprit of the outage was “backend system software error had generated abnormal congestion on the network.” T-Mobile states that they have implemented additional measures to help prevent this from happening in the future and T-Mobile apologizes for the inconvenience this may have caused. Full statement from T-Mobile below:

On Tuesday, some T-Mobile customers may have experienced service disruptions impacting voice and messaging services.  We restored full service to all affected customers later in the day.   After investigating the cause, we have determined that a backend system software error had generated abnormal congestion on the network.  T-Mobile has since implemented additional measures to help prevent this from happening in the future.  We again apologize to those customers who were affected and may have been inconvenienced.

T-Mobile Service Restored

2518update

T-Mobile was hit hard lately with their nationwide service outage which started at around 5pm EST and varied in areas. Some  included both voice and data, others included one or the other. But now T-Mobile confirms that they have fully restored all voice and data services and now are trying to find the culprit of the outage. T-Mobile sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience this may have caused.  We have to realize this happens to everyone, and yes it has happened at least once to all 4 of the major carriers. Full statement from T-Mobile below. Feel free to express your thoughts in the comments!

T-Mobile confirms it has fully restored voice and text/picture messaging services for customers affected by intermittent service disruptions on Tuesday.  About five percent of our customers across various geographies were affected for much of Tuesday evening, and by late Tuesday PST their service was restored.  Our sole focus has been restoring full services for all customers; we are now investigating the root cause of the incident.  We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience that this has caused our customers.

UPDATE: If you continue to experience difficulty making/receiving calls or accessing data services, please power your phone off then back on. This will update your connection to the network and should restore your access to these services.

Oh No! Nationwide Outage

UPDATE 1: As of 9:30pm est approximately only 5% of users are still experiencing a service disruption. The rapid response team which really equates to Catherine Zeta Jones flying from tower to tower is on the job.

UPDATE 2: Please do not overload T-Mobile customer care regarding this issue, they are swamped, overloaded and they have as much information as you do!! Give them a break!

Apparently, a nationwide voice outage is plaguing some users today.  This outage seems to be limited to voice, and for some reason it is causing phones to not be recognized on a network while using T-Mobile’s UMA service.  Let’s hope this gets resolved quickly and let’s be thankful that we all still have our data (is it too soon for that joke?).  We will keep you updated as we learn more.

UPDATE: T-Mobile USA has confirmed that they are aware of the outage and have mobilized their rapid response teams to restore service as quickly as possible. Official statement from T-Mobile below:

T-Mobile customers may be experiencing service disruptions impacting voice and data. Our rapid response teams have been mobilized to restore service as quickly as possible. We will provide updates as more information is available.
