Open Comment Weekend

OPENCOMMENTFRIDAY1

Hey, it’s the weekend!  Aren’t you excited?  I know I am.  More importantly, it’s the weekend before the preorder date for the Motorola Cliq.  There sure is a bunch to discuss in the Android world (The Cliq, Eclair, Behold 2, etc.).  You can also discuss the mysterious Project Dark (because you all want to know what it is).  It is also possible that you have decided that the HTC HD2 is for you.  Last but not least, maybe you haven’t had enough time to talk about the Sidekick data outage, so that is on the table.  Either way, share your opinions and thoughts in the comments, they are now yours.

Is T-Mobile Losing Their (Android) Thunder?

Google and Verizon announce partnership, love and new Android handsets to result
As some of you may know, there have been a bunch rumors (that are less rumor and more fact) about Verizon’s upcoming Android phone, the Motorola Sholes.  Well, Verizon and Google went semi-official and announced their (somewhat unlikely) partnership today.  While these companies have had disputes in the past, everything seems to be just peachy now.  In a press call, Verizon and Google said that they will be showing off two (so the Sholes and I am guessing something from HTC) Android phones in the coming weeks, at least one of which is supposed to be a “game changer.”  Not only that, but Verizon is taking a step back from controlling their phones and becoming an “open carrier” by allowing Google Voice and, of course, the Android Market.  Sure, none of this sounds like T-Mobile news, but think about the impact this could have on T-Mobile’s Android sales (and thunder), especially given that Sprint is also making a move with the Hero.  With this, I leave you to make your own opinions and share them in the comments–and you will see my ramblings on the matter soon.  In other words, think of this as an open comment day.

Open Comment Weekend

OPENCOMMENTFRIDAY1

You have seen it before, but now we have a little change.  Instead of the standard Open Comment Friday tradition, we are going to try opening the comments section for the weekend instead.  This is your time to discuss what ever comes to mind (hopefully it is T-Mobile related); T-Mobile has left a bunch to be chatted about in the comments.  Maybe you can talk about the latest Android news, T-Mobiles ever expanding 3G network,  T-Mobiles quest into HSPA+ or maybe just the latest and greatest in T-Mobile phones.  So now I leave it to you, tell us what you think in the comments!

Holiday Weekend Open Comment Time

OPENCOMMENTFRIDAY2

Unfortunately, it’s been a rather slow week in the land of magenta. I hope that that will all change with a wildly anticipated Motorola Android announcement happening Thursday.  In the meantime its Labor day so get outside, enjoy the last few days of summer, or if you’re in Florida like me another day of 90 degree plus weather. I know I’ll suffer through the humidity however and enjoy a barbecue with good friends tomorrow! I hope everyone has a terrific holiday and braces themselves for a hopefully HUGE Motorola announcement!

Comment section is open! Happy Labor Day from Tmonews!!

Open Comment Friday

lolcat41

Well thank goodness its Friday because its that time again, the time we open up the comment section for our dear readers to discuss anything and everything they want. Now this week has seen some pretty big happenings, starting with our 3 part T-mobile Inventory Expose which gave us plenty of goodies but most notable was the MyTouch name for the hugely anticipated next Android device. Speaking of Android, perhaps the biggest news this week was the official word from T-mobile regarding Cupcake officially pushing to G1’s beginning next week. Hallelujah! Of course, we can’t forget our little Samsung leak which broke from our forums showing off a bevy of new 3G handsets expected to hit latter this year. These won’t excite the smartphone fans but those looking for a little 3G love without the bells and whistles should be pleased with these additions. Lets not forget another leak this week which showcased the upcoming addition of a very useful feature for users, visual voicemail which is expected to drop in July. Heaven knows I love to be able to pick and choose which voicemail I listen to!

These stories weren’t the only news this week so make sure you are checking the blog every day to stay updated in the T-mobile world! OK, open comment time is a go!

That’s right, its Friday and TGIF! More importantly though, its time for you guys to express your thoughts, feelings and T-mobile emotions in Open Comment Friday! Unfortunately it hasn’t been a very eventful week save for Cupcake “unofficially” rolling out to a select few, or Samsung announcing its very first Android device which just so happens to have the mega important 1700mhz 3G band! Last but hopefully not least is the early early arrival of pre-ordered Sidekick LX’s and thanks to one lucky user, giving those still waiting a whole bevy of pictures to drool on.

The comment section is now open!

Oh yes, its that time, Friday, the end of the week where you, loyal readers get the opportunity to discuss whatever it is you might like in the comment section. This week saw several big news announcements and none were larger than the “launch” of the Sidekick LX, handily the most feature rich Sidekick and if early reviews are to be taken literally, quite the exceptional device. Speaking of devices that message, how about the two knuckleheads from Pennsylvania that wanted to try and ring up the world record for text messaging and only ended up figuring out that unlimited isn’t really “unlimited.” T-mobile could probably use more people like those two guys though with Q1 numbers almost being half of last year. Speaking of numbers, 1 million G1’s sold, not bad bad! So that’s the big news of the week, not the comment section is open and ready to hear what you have to say!

Open Comment Friday

That’s right Tmonews faithful, today is the day you wait for all week, open comment Friday time! Plenty of stuff to discuss this week with one of the biggest happenings occurring just hours ago with the news that the Sidekick LX is available for pre-order starting today! Other big handset news this week is the FCC passing of the HTC Maple with the necessary T-mobile 3G bands exciting at least one or two windows mobile lovers. Handset news wasn’t of course the only big happening of the week as T-mobile did a slight revamp to rate plans, offering more minutes on the certain Family plans and giving individuals long deserved m2m! Of course, that April 15th news was offset by the knowledge that the much maligned upgrade fee has arisen from the dead allowing of you to feel 18 dollars poorer after every handset upgrade. We’re still working hard to figure out exactly what the April 21st launch announcement is and while we were all hoping for Android news, signs point more and more toward a Sidekick party.

Of course all that news is small potatoes compared to the realization that Tmonews has officially passed the one year mark of daily musings on T-mobile. Congrats to us!

So there you go, its open comment time!

Open Comment Friday!

Its that time again, the time that you may feel the freedom to think out loud, off topic and make absolutely no sense whatsoever and nobody cares. Dramatic enough for you? Good, its open comment Friday time and a happy Good Friday to all my celebratory readers! After a brief respite from the world of blogging, I came back to a big big week of news. One of the bigger happenings was of course, the release date calendar leak showing a few special and highly anticipated devices and when exactly we can expect to see them on store shelves! Two other big announcements or should I say expected announcements come in the form of T-mobile preparing to announce new rate plan changes on April 15th along with another “private launch event” scheduled to happen April 21st. We’re still not seeing a tie between these two dates but you never know, (conspiracy theorists unite!) Of course, one of the hopeful April 21 announcements is the expectation of another Android phone launch and we’re hoping that if true, they pick some better names! Blackberry 8900 fans aren’t forgotten either, with an unexpected but definitely appreciated $50 dollar price drop hopefully clearing the way for at least a few of you who were on the fence on this one. As always, 3G news is welcome by all and this week didn’t disappoint, with a leaked memo showing T-mobile plans for 2009 and cities/markets that can expect 3G coverage by the end of the year. Fret not if your city didn’t make the list, there are plenty of “more/many more’s” on this list to give hope to those who didn’t quite see their town on the launching pad. Last but not least of the weeks important news was the screen shot show the anticipated Sidekick LX09 popping up in T-mobile’s inventory system in not one but two colors.

While not all of the weeks news, these are the most notable stories of the week but now the comment section is open to the readers. Discuss the above topics, those not mentioned or just feel free to discuss anything and everything T-mobile. Go!
