Apparently, Swype is all the rage these days and while I have yet to discover its usefulness for my own purposes, future MyTouch 1.2 buyers will be among the first Android owners to use it. The above shot comes to us through one of our ninjas who received via email this confirmation of its inclusion, among other non-essential and non-juicy information. If Swype is not your cup of tea, no worries, it’s not mine either but for some, the ability to draw words and letters is almost as fun as when fire was first discovered. Maybe, I don’t know, I wasn’t around when fire was discovered.

Let me first say that I actually like the name MyTouch 3G+ significantly more than I like MyTouch 3G 1.2. I do not know if MyTouch 1.2 is the actual name T-Mobile will be giving to the MyTouch 3G upgrade but let me just go on record saying version “1.2” is awful. If Palm could throw in the Palm Pre Plus for Verizon, T-Mobile can drop the MyTouch 3G+ for themselves. Imagine telling someone you just bought the MyTouch 1.2, who would understand that? Now imagine telling someone you just bought the MyTouch 3G Plus, that just sounds a whole lot cooler. Regardless, Best Buy thanks to our tipster is showing off this baby for a 2/28 launch, admittedly though Best Buy has been known to launch T-Mobile devices a week or two after they launch through official channels.
So what do you think? MyTouch 3G+ or MyTouch3G 1.2? Please say Plus, please!
One more shot after the jump!
Thanks Best Buy Mobile Ninja!

This is kind of a good news, bad news (well, mediocre) post. Good News: anyone with a MyTouch should be getting an over the air update. Bad News: this isn’t Android 2.1, or even 2.1. Instead, this update is to make sure that you get a nice little notification for missed calls. Not a huge update, but important nonetheless. If you are getting this update, or just have some thoughts on the matter, sound off in the comments!

While I would guess that probably a grand total of zero people are losing sleep regarding the MyTouch LE RAM “debate,” I figured the above screen shot would settle the matter. For those who you haven’t paid any attention whatsoever to this “issue,” rumors had sparked that the Fender MyTouch LE came with 288mb of ram rather than the current MyTouch3G’s 192mb. Judging by the image above we’re splitting the difference and going with 256mb, same as the Motorola Cliq. So in case you were losing sleep over this, consider the matter closed. Thank you and goodnight, good afternoon.

We first caught wind of the myTouch LE (Limited Edition) Fender all the way back in October 2009, where few details were know. Thanks to one of our trusty tipsters, above you will see what the myTouch Fender includes. Along with the Fender inspired casing, it will also include a 16GB MicroSD memory card, a 3.5mm headphone jack (something the original myTouch should have already included) and various Fender branded accessories will be available as well. As for the launch date, our sources are stating a January 20th release date. Leave your thoughts in the comments!

So this is an interesting little tidbit sent my way in the last 24 hours. Apparently February 10th gives way to the MyTouch3G 1.2. My original thought was that the Fender edition might be this MyTouch3G 1.2. However, my source states that with some suspicion that it might be the original MyTouch3G coming with a 3.5 mm headset jack. This stems from material that hints toward two sets of accessory skus, modified to fit “both” devices. We don’t know what this means really and if its just the Fender edition which is a little disappointing. We imagine as the day approaches it will become cleaner. Either way, let the speculation begin.

Anyone who has been following the launch of the Verizon based Motorola Droid was bound to be envious of a major feature added in by Google. Google Navigation aka Google Maps on steroids, offers full navigation to help you find every In-N-Out Burger known to man, as pictured above. Originally thought to be offered to all Android devices sporting 2.0 and up, Google has gone and made some happy Android users by allowing those with “Donut” based Android to grab the app from the Android Market this very moment. We know the G1 has been “running” Google Navigation for the better half of two weeks now via a little hackery, but this time it’s a legit edition and available for your road tripping pleasure. Hit up the Android Market and sound off below after you take this for a spin!

You know, I really don’t know what to say about this other than wtf is this seller thinking? I sincerely hope this was a typo and/or a joke. Look I like the MyTouch, it’s a great size and a lovely little Android phone but $1,000,000 dollars is a little more than my holiday fund will allow. What I really want to know is what’s with the 11 cents? Anyways, hit the link for the full eBay listing and leave your laughter in the comments.
P.S. at least its new and never opened. I’d hate to spend 1 million dollars on a phone that has some scratches.
Thanks Richard!

T-Mobile, being the very first carrier to bring Android to US shores, knows a thing or two about it. From the G1, MyTouch, Motorola Cliq and the forthcoming Behold 2, T-Mobile is rolling in Android goodness. T-Mobile CTO Cole Brodman, with whom we are beginning to closely associate all things T-Mobile and Android, spoke at the Open Mobile Summit in San Francisco today. Discussing T-Mobile’s Android commitment, Brodman shared some statistics regarding the Android Market:
- About 50% of MyTouch users visit the Android Market at least once per day.
- Nearly 50% of myTouch users say they have “completely customized” their myTouch.
- More than 40% of myTouch users access social networking sites multiple times per day.
- 80% of myTouch users browse the web at least once per day, and 2/3 say several times per day.
Noticing all of stats reflect the MyTouch, we believe that’s due to the MyTouch being billed as the Flagship Android phone for 2009.
The Android market has grown significantly since T-Mobile launched the G1 last October, from 50 applications to more than 12,000 today. T-Mobile is interested in showing a continued and increased commitment in the Android game by helping customers discover the Android market in a new light.
In order to better to serve up a better customer experience T-Mobile is aiming to improve the market experience:
- With the introduction of the T-Mobile myTouch 3G, T-Mobile created T-Mobile AppPack on Android Market, which features select 3rd party and T-Mobile made apps. T-Mobile recently refreshed AppPack with new, suggested applications – 34 apps in all, including a mix of free and paid apps.
- Later this month, the company will take this a step further by introducing a T-Mobile Channel on Android Market (that will be live by Thanksgiving), and Android Market (including the T-Mobile Channel) will soon feature carrier billing making it easier and more streamlined for customers with T-Mobile Android devices to purchase their favorite applications.
