Attention Motoblur fans: More pictures of the Motorola Cliq XT (also known as the Motorola Zeppelin) continue to surface. The photos above detail the Cliq XT in all its glory with Motoblur, LED flash camera, and a 3.1 inch screen. For those who don’t know, the Cliq XT will run Android 1.5 and be both WIFI and GPS equipped. Unlike its brother, the Motorola Cliq, the Cliq XT will not feature a keyboard. The handset will be touchscreen only and feature a new keypad called Swype. The handset is rumored to be launching on March 10th. Oh yeah, the face of the phone and the area outside the trackpad are also touch sensitive! From the look of things, this looks to be a darn good handset with quite a few possibilities for developers. So, T-Mobile fans, will you be getting this phone? Let us know in the comments.
Have you been longing for Moto Blur, but you would really appreciate a thinner device and no keyboard? (GASP! I know, but I fit into that category) The WiFi equipped, Android 1.5, Blur covered Cliq XT might just be your phone. It is rumored to be launching on March 10th. While nothing is completely shocking about this phone, I hear there is a secret feature which is quite interesting. Apparently, the face of the phone outside of the trackpad is also touch sensitive (ending just past the bottom of the screen). This could make it possible to select apps without touching the screen or the trackpad. While I can’t see how this is incredibly useful, kudos for novelties. There are a few more pictures after the break and leave your thoughts in the comments.
The original Cliq successor, the Motorola Cliq XT (Zeppelin) announced all the way back at Mobile World Congress, is nearing release. The MotoBLUR powered handset is still slated for a March 10th release and, as previously stated, it will include a 3.1 “high-resolution” touchscreen (predicted to be 480 x 320), “pinch and zoom” touch capability, a 5-megapixel camera, navigation touchpad and a dual-mic noise cancellation system, with Android 1.5 to top it off. T-Mobile pricing is still unknown, but it should be somewhere around the Best Buy pricing that was leaked not too long ago. Mark your calenders for March 10th!
UPDATE: The folks over at MobileBurn have scored a copy of a pre-release version of the Connected Media Player that will ship on the upcoming Motorola CLIQ XT and it definitely looks promising. Some new features include, shoutcast radio support, synchronized lyrics, and TuneWiki mapping. Hit the jump for a video demo!
Motorola has announced this morning over at Mobile World Congress the Cliq XT, aka Zeppelin for T-Mobile. Not too much surprise here as we have had some pretty good indication this phone would make a T-Mobile US launch since the middle of January. The name should also come as no surprise as a leaked retail slide brought us some hint that this would be the launch name. For the record, my vote would have gone to Zeppelin as the final release title. Let us guess for a moment what the “XT” stands for? Last time I thought it was “extra tall,” but a smarter reader thought it should be “extra thin.” Guesses?
The Cliq XT, aside from its funny name isn’t coming to the table slacking though as it will drop with a 3.1 “high-resolution” touchscreen (predicted to be 480 x 320), “pinch and zoom” touch capability, a 5-megapixel camera, navigation touchpad and a dual-mic noise cancellation system. Most important of course is that this phone will be sporting the love it or hate it Motorola OS, MotoBlur. That’s either a deal maker or deal breaker as Blur has been met with mixed reactions across the T-Mobile user base but if you are really looking for a reason to buy, Adobe Flash Lite is onboard. Motorola says look for it next month, so we’re sticking with the March 10th release date per the leaked retail slide and our own confirmed info. Two important details missing here, what version of Android and the price?!
Previously, we got a glimpse of the upcoming Motorola Zeppelin along with some specs. Now, courtesy of Gizmodo Brazil, the Zeppelin gets a full photo-shoot. The handset is being described as “a Motorola BACKFLIP without the keyboard”. Although, rumors were claiming the Zeppelin to ship with Android 2.x, Gizmodo claims that the device will be rockin’ the old Android OS 1.5, along with Motorola’s social networking solution, MotoBlur. As we’ve previously stated, expect the Motorola Zeppelin to hit T-Mobile March 10th. Hit the jump for more snapshots of the Zeppelin!
There is little debate as to what constitutes the hottest OS platform in the mobile industry right now, Android. T-Mobile was the first to bring the Android platform to the masses and has led the pack with the widest selection of devices from the get go. This nifty cheat sheet straight from the T-Mobile website shows some basic breakdowns of the T-Mobile selection and also re-confirms that 256mb of RAM in the MyTouch LE. If you were having a hard time making some Android decisions this may or may not influence you, but it’s certainly an easy breakdown of the main differences among the devices. Of course what it doesn’t tell you is the benefits and/or pitfalls of using a carriers dressed up interface like TouchWiz or MotoBlur which are very much love it or hate it. Regardless, if you’ve been on the fence about picking up an Android device, perhaps this will help.
Suspiciously missing here is the Nexus One, though not directly sold by T-Mobile definitely has the specs to compete and as such, should be listed.
Ah yes its that time again. The rumor mill is churning! Above you will see what is rumored to be T-Mobile’s second Motorola Android device with MOTOBLUR. NOTHING has been confirmed so please take this as a very small grain of salt, in other words: its a rumor. The guys over at AndroidandMe have received specs for the “Motus” from an anonymous tipster. And guess what? According to the specs, this handset supports T-Mobile’s AWS 3G network. The handset appears to be closely related to the Motorola Cliq that debuted November 2nd. What sets this handset apart from the Cliq is the outer design. It features a reverse flip keyboard and a rear directional touchpad. For those of you that have no clue what a reverse flip keyboard is, it’s basically a keyboard on the back of the phone (when it is closed). And the rear directional touchpad is supposed to be a crazy touchpad on the back of the device. I don’t know what kind of insane designers Motorola is hiring, but this seems like a pretty “cool” idea. According to AndroidandMe the device is expected to release Q1 2010. Full hardware specs courtesy of AndroidandMe after the jump! Leave your thoughts in the comments!
The Motorola Cliq is the phone of the moment for T-Mobile and should you be looking to pick it up, why not save some money? Our friends at Wirefly have alerted us to some savings going down for T-Mobile customers, to the tune of $119.99 for new activations. Looking to upgrade? Perfect, save 30 bucks and go with the Wirefly discount of $169.99. Listen, I’m all about savings these days as the holidays are around the corner and the gift lists start stacking up. If I can save myself a little cash while getting me a shiny brand new Motorola Cliq, I’m going to do just that.
I believe advertising is essential in any marketing campaign. Advertising is a key component, and if a company can advertise effectively, most of the time the product will successfully sell. Motorola aired a nice ad yesterday after the Yankees baseball game, which in my opinion effectively introduced the Motorola Cliq. It consisted of just the right amount of humor without overdoing it and was simple and right to the point. Check out the ad above for yourself and let us know what you think about it! Do you think it is effective? Why or why not?
A while back we showed you high quality pics of T-Mobile’s newest Android device, the Motorola Cliq with MotoBlur. This being Motorola’s first Android device, I have to admit that I really enjoyed it. T-Mobile has a nicely done advertisement for the Cliq (with a nice tune as well). Check out the video and hopefully T-Mobile will actually advertise this MotoBlur powered Moto, whether it be websites, TV ads, etc. If you’re still contemplating whether or not you want the Cliq, maybe some reviews will help decide? Remember existing customers can pre-order and receive their Cliq no later than November 2nd, but new customers have to wait until the November 2nd release date.
