A smartphone it isn’t but the LG Sentio is quite the full-featured dumbphone, which should please anyone looking for the basics plus a few extra bells and whistles. One of a trio of LG devices to land on T-Mobile USA, most of us likely wait for one of the something with a little more “oomph” hopefully landing on the T-Mobile doorstep soon. Given that two more LG devices are set on the rumored T-Mobile 2010 roadmap, we might not have much longer to wait to see what LG really can bring to the T-Mobile table.

For the moment however, enjoy the video brought to you by MobileBurn.com and feel free to scoop one up for a mere $69.99 from T-Mobile.com.

I thought about making this an April Fools post in June by saying LG coming to T-Mobile was in fact the REAL Project Emerald. I realized that would be downright low and I don’t want to really upset anyone. It was just two days ago that T-Mobile and LG announced their very first partnership in the United States with the announcement of three devices. Sadly, none of them are exciting, especially to those of us who can’t ever imagine life without a smartphone. If a feature phone is still your forte, the LG Sentio is the best of the bunch, though we again stress that isn’t saying much. Availability in the press release stated availability this summer but the above image shows that LG Sentio dropping June 30th. When are the other two devices dropping? Does anyone really want me to find out?

For the first time in you know, forever T-Mobile has formally introduced LG into their lineup. The LG Sentio, dLite and GS170 (which obviously isn’t special enough for a name) are all coming to T-Mobile this summer, which should be any day now considering we just entered June. Where has the year gone by the way?
The LG Sentio (pictured above), offering a 3-inch touch screen with a virtual QWERTY keyboard will be the “smartest” of these dumbphones. Offering personal email and wait for it, picture messaging! A full touchscreen, 3G connectivity and a 3 megapixel camera are also on board.

The LG dLite has a hidden LED matrix displaying on your outside screens that will light up in pretty colors. With 3G connectivity, a 2.8-inch touch screen and visual voicemail support this phone is perfect for those of you who just are not ready to make the leap to the smartphone era.

The LG GS170, which simply wasn’t special enough to get a name also comes with a speakerphone, large visible keys and is simply speaking, a plain phone for those of you who desire little more than performing phone calls and simple messaging. However, LG was kind enough to do a little throwback and include a VGA camera for your photo taking pleasures.

Thanks to a few tipsters, we’ve been able to compile some information on upcoming T-Mobile devices. First, we could be looking at not one, not two, but THREE LG devices launching before July. No word on what exactly these phones contain within, but we’re hoping at least one of the three will be an Android smartphone especially with the LG GS505 passing the FCC in February. LG would be an interesting addition to the T-Mobile lineup and we know they are also readying their own series of Windows 7 Phones for release this holiday season. Hey, the more options, the better right?

For you Blackberry fans out there, the news is minimal but we can expect the 8520 to drop in pink and the 9700 dropping in white sometime in May. No word on a 9100 launch as of this writing.

Our sources are also telling us that a secretive Motorola “data” device is set for launch in July in 2 colors. We’re digging around for more info on any forthcoming Motorola products but so far nothing on this “data” device. On top of that, we have a presumably HSPA+ data stick coming from the likes of ZTE launching sometime before midsummer.

Now, for the MyTouch Slide, aka Espresso, aka the next MyTouch. Referred to internally only as the “next MyTouch device,” we have been unable to nail down an actual name for this device. What we have been told, however, is to expect a big marketing campaign behind the launch of this device again with the “personalization” options that surrounded the original MyTouch launch. Rumor puts some sort of PR announcement around the 19th of this month for the “next MyTouch Device.” Thankfully, this device will be handed to store reps in advance long before launch so we should expect a handful of leaks leading up to the expected May 19th launch date. To coincide with the personalization options, we’ve been told that a serious amount of accessory skus are listed for the device.

One of the questions I get asked the most is why doesn’t T-Mobile carry any phones from LG? While that’s a question I can’t answer, the good folks at Telecomskorea believe that’s about to change. As LG has watched its relationship with Verizon, their predominant North American partner decline, LG is looking to find alternative partners in the US to stop its declining market share. According to the article, T-Mobile officials “reportedly” visited LG’s headquarters in Seoul last month with the hopes of shoring up a partnership that hopefully will see both parties mutually benefit. LG is no stranger to Android and with T-Mobile being the largest North American carrier of Android devices; it seems like a match may be just what the doctor ordered. Time will tell but hey, if we can’t get that “other” phone, LG will have to do.
