Deutsche Telekom CFO Says T-Mobile USA Can Stand Alone, Doesn’t Need A Partner

Deutsche Telekom CFO came right out today speaking at the 40th Annual J.P. Morgan Global Technology, Media and Telecom conference and said that T-Mobile USA is “not a problem” for the international carrier. “There’s always a perception that if these guys are selling an asset it must be a problem child,” Höttges said. “It is not a problem for us. And that is due to the fact that we have a clear path … [read full article]

T-Mobile CTO Says Network Will Be “Should Be Ready” For iPhone Users By Fourth Quarter

While T-Mobile may have hinted at the iPhone operating on their network later this year, a point reiterated this evening through a press release announcing the selection of vendors to build out their LTE network, they aren’t saying if they will directly target iPhone users. Now, let’s clarify one thing as this report follows reports from recent months that show T-Mobile is working to support the iPhone on their network with a … [read full article]

I’m Leaving The iPhone Behind And Going Android Only For 30 Days, Can I Be Converted?

This is, by all accounts one of the bigger things I’ve ever done since the founding of TmoNews. So let’s just jump right in, for 30 days, I’m giving up my iPhone completely and going all Android. I’m calling it the “David’s going 30 days with the HTC One S since I know most of you would love to see me drop all signs of iOS in my household Android challenge.” Well, that wouldn’t be … [read full article]

Business Insider Would Have You Believe Android Is Dying

Hold onto your Androids folks as Business Insider’s newest report would have you believe — “The End of Android Approaches.” I wish I was kidding. To be truthful, their story is more based on a quote from Raymond James analyst Travis McCourt speaking to Forbes than their own actual reporting.   So, here’s a thought. Could it be the case that Google’s share of the smartphone market has peaked? That the phone-buying public simply … [read full article]

T-Mobile Statement Highlights Network Refarming For iPhone Customers

AT&T’s recently announced policy for unlocking iPhones is good news, but there is no company more capable of reaping the rewards of AT&T’s new policy other than T-Mobile. With T-Mobile’s network refarming, existing inventory of Micro-SIMs and value priced offerings, T-Mobile is perfectly positioned to attract angry AT&T customers. In fact, T-Mobile released a statement to 9to5Mac earlier today on this very subject: Today we have more than one million unlocked iPhones … [read full article]

AT&T Begins Unlocking Out Of Contract iPhone’s Today, Good News For T-Mobile Refarming

Note: Not really sure why this is confusing people, but you have to be an AT&T customer for this to work. They won’t unlock it for just anyone. AT&T has made it official beginning today, Sunday, April 8th that the company will allow customers who have fulfilled their two-year contracts to unlock their iPhone for use on any GSM network. AT&T gave the following statement to 9to5Mac:  “Beginning Sunday, April 8, we will … [read full article]

Some More T-Mobile Tidbits To Finish Off The Week

As we finish out this crazy week we thought we’d bring just a few more little tidbits of intel to talk about T-Mobile and the future. Let’s start with what seemed mostly obvious yesterday…T-Mobile isn’t likely to carry the iPhone until Apple changes their terms for subsidies. We should, of course mention that is subject to change and ANYTHING can happen with T-Mobile and the iPhone as 2012 progresses. Moving on to … [read full article]

T-Mobile Announces Fourth Quarter 2011 Financial Results, LTE Network Coming In 2013

Early this morning T-Mobile USA announced their first earnings report since the AT&T merger fell through and noted a loss of 802,000 customers in the fourth quarter. That’s the bad news and we know, it’s pretty bad. The good news is that thanks to the AWS spectrum T-Mobile received from termination of the AT&T deal, T-Mobile will launch their LTE service in 2013. Additionally, T-Mobile will spend $4billion rolling out HSPA+ on their … [read full article]

T-Mobile To Offer Additional Unlocked iPhone Support Beginning January 30th

Starting on January 30th, T-Mobile will “begin offering additional support to customers using an Apple iPhone on our network.” T-Mobile’s added iPhone support will include “common procedures, information about feature and specifications and other basic device questions.” T-Mobile is implementing these changes to support the 1 million plus users on the Magenta network with unlocked iPhones. I mean, we iPhone users need more support, right? We endure such a “poor” experience … [read full article]

T-Mobile highlighted at their 2012 CES event that they continue to expand their HSPA+ coverage, rollout new devices … [read full article]
