Update: Almost forgot that the @TMobile_USA tweet finally finally finally is confirming what we already knew. Many many thanks to the @WMExperts crew who gave me their blessing to repost their info. Enjoy the show, guys!
Thanks to the good folks over at WMExperts who have so graciously and thankfully blessed us with the use of their pictures at the T-Mobile HTC HD2launch event. Things are happening live and we definitely suggest checking out the WMExperts live Twitter stream as they update the night away. We’ll be updating details as they arrive. Many many thanks to the guys over at WMExperts for allowing us to use their pics as, with little surprise, we weren’t invited.
Blockbuster movies: cost anywhere from $2.99-$3.99; you can also buy them. Purchases work w/other BBuster services. Saves to 16gb SD (included)
MobiTV is 3g streaming. Works very well. It’s basically live TV.
MobiTV is rocking. Very fast and great quality/channel selection. This HD2 is very media-centric. http://twitpic.com/190seq
Barnes & Noble eReader: very nice. Syncs OTA w/your acct. You can “lend” to the device but not from the device in this version.
Nothing says “buy me” like a glossy advertisement and that’s exactly what T-Mobile is dropping in their stores. The trifecta of upcoming phones arguably covers the entire gambit of needs for smartphone lovers everywhere. If you want some Android goodness, the Cliq XT with some MotoBlur window dressing has you covered. Perhaps you want a touchscreen without all the smartphone frills but with some extra horsepower over that standard flip. The Nokia Nuron is waiting for you. Then, of course, there is the prize, the Transformers viewing, E Reading, 4.3-inch screen browsing Windows Phone bad boy. The HTC HD2 needs no introduction on this blog but I do love watching Transformers over and over and over. I know it’s a Michael Bay movie but I watch it for the explosions and testing my subwoofer, not the storyline! Duh! Anyway, this advertisement is ready for showtime come March 24th and you can bet T-Mobile is looking for this trifecta of devices to lead their second quarter charge.
Finally, after months of speculation and rumors, rumors and more rumors, the Magenta mothership herself has confirmed the date of launch. It’s March 24th. So get your piggy banks cracked open or beg and plead for money from your Mom but come one week from this very Wednesday, this baby is all yours. If the price is right.
It’s been a nice run of HTC HD2 posts though up till now, right?
So, you have seen some amazing videos, fantastic pictures, and even the price for the HTC HD2, and it couldn’t get any better, right? Well, you are right, because this will hit you like a ton of bricks or feathers (depending on how comfortable you want to be when that ton hits you). It has been confirmed that the HTC HD2 will not be upgradeable to Windows Phone 7. I’ll repeat, it WILL NOT be upgradeable to Windows Phone 7. I know it was touch and go there for a while, but Joe Belfiore has brought down his hammer. Maybe you can live with a skin or just stick with that glorious Sense UI (which I still like more than WP7 anyways). So, does this change your opinion on buying the HTC HD2 or are you holding off until WP7 arrives? Let us know in the comments!
We’ve had the good fortune of knowing the HTC HD2 price point for almost two weeks now. Some of you wanted to wait until it got a little closer and/or wanted something else “official.” Well, now we have an HTC HD2 leaked price card bound to grace the shelves of T-Mobile retail stores once again and it confirms that beautiful $199.99 price. Of course, with the price so low you can always buy two, especially considering the current BOGO going down now till the 31st. Assuming the phone drops the 24th with no more release date round robin, that’s a solid week to grab two of these Windows Phone bad boys.
So what say you, $199? Will you break open the piggy bank?
You guys asked, and we delivered. Yup, that’s right. We’ve got some more exclusive T-Mobile HTC HD2 goodness. Above you will see a quick look at some of the HD2’s multimedia features on a huge 4.3 inch capacitive touch screen. Leave your thoughts in the comments!
Sidenote: The video above was taken with another T-Mobile HTC HD2. Definitely shows how good the video quality is.
Since there were a few detractors from the recent bout of images of the HTC HD2, who complained of poor quality this HD unboxing video courtesy of Wirefly should satisfy your clear image desires. I won’t bore you with any details, as I believe we are all well versed on the specs, features and included options. Therefore, I am going to make this short and sweet and thank the guys at Wirefly for posting this in high def quality!
At this point, we have had fairly good indications that the HTC HD2 would hit on March 24th and that was further boosted by a story from Laptopmag yesterday. Thanks to the good folks at LetsTalk who are (perhaps accidentally) confirming the March 24th, date as the available-to-order date. That is the first time we have seen a reliable “source” as in a retailer discuss the release date. Well actually, it is the second time if we include the mysterious Mobitv tweet. Therefore, I think it is safe to say that all the hype for March 24th will come true and your HD2 dreams will be fulfilled come that morning. This is as concrete as we have gotten regarding a date so if you’ve been trying to figure out exactly how long you have to save those pennies, T-minus 14 days. Well actually 13 days and 12 hours. Will you be lining up? Will you be at your local T-Mobile retail store waiting with your face pressed against the glass bright and early?
Update: A bunch of pics showing the multimedia functions of the HD2 have been added. The only missing piece here is the e-reader which our source said is just asking to be updated.
Update 2: Thanks to Marc over at Laptop Mag, we are closer to confirming the March 24th launch date and the $199.99 price point. It’s obviously what we’ve been expecting this whole time. Of course, they also note that the HD2 will NOT be Windows Phone 7 compatible which clears up some of the confusion that surrounded that possibility.
The last time we saw the HTC HD2 getting unboxed was all the way back in October 2009 with some magical trance music. Now, the guys over at BGR have scored some unboxing snapshots of the highly anticipated handset with T-Mobile branding and all. Whether it’s releasing the 23rd or the 24th remains a mystery. Hit the jump for additional unboxing snapshots courtesy of BGR. Don’t forget to leave your thoughts in the comments!
