Hands On With The T-Mobile Galaxy S 4, And Some More Time With The iPhone 5

I’ve already spent plenty of time with the Galaxy S 4, but it wasn’t until yesterday afternoon that our friends at PhoneDog got a chance to play with a T-Mobile branded Galaxy S 4. The T-Mobile/Samsung (not sure who was handling the device) rep showing off the flagship smartphone made sure to mention “pre-production” hardware and software as the reasoning behind no speed … [read full article]

Wow, what a day, what a day. Aside from today easily being the best day of traffic in TmoNews’ history and the day that T-Mobile’s CEO calls me out on stage — today marks a historic shift in the US wireless industry. With that in mind, there’s plenty to catch up on. So here’s a list of all of today’s UNcarrier and Simple Choice news for your reading enjoyment: Liveblog: T-Mobile’s … [read full article]

T-Mobile’s LTE Network Goes Live With Seven Major Networks, Highlights LTE-Ready Devices

Right on schedule, T-Mobile’s CEO John Legere just announced the company’s first seven LTE markets and they look awfully familiar. That’s not all T-Mobile’s got on the LTE front today as they highlight their upcoming LTE devices with the Galaxy S 4, HTC One, Galaxy S III LTe as well as the already available BlackBerry Z10, and Galaxy Note … [read full article]

HTC Ends “Quietly Brilliant” Tagline, Increases Marketing Budget To Get “Bold”

HTC’s making some sweeping changes to their marketing lately with a new announcement that they are dropping the “Quietly Brilliant” tagline in future product ads. “We have a lot of innovations but we haven’t been loud enough,” said Mr. Ho, a Singaporean who is HTC’s third marketing chief in less than two years. The new approach, he says, will be bolder. HTC’s new marketing effort is just part of their effort to reassure … [read full article]

New HTC One Marketing Spot Highlights BlinkFeed And A Potato That Looks Like Elvis

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little more excited about the arrival of the HTC One over the Galaxy S 4. I’m a hardware person and I like quality — in that respect I have to give the nod to HTC for its aluminum build. What I’m not going to give HTC the nod for is this marketing spot…WHAT is going on? Standing on its own, BlinkFeed is novel way to keep … [read full article]

T-Mobile Adds LTE Selection To “Shop By” Options On Website

I can’t really say when an option for “LTE” was added to T-Mobile’s “Shop by” section on their website, but it’s there now. For the moment, just the Galaxy Note II and the “Coming Soon” BlackBerry Z10 show up, but ultimately we’ll see the HTC One and Galaxy S 4 grace this page. There’s really nothing else to emphasize about this option, except that it was only a matter … [read full article]

HTC One Takes To The Streets Right Next To Samsung’s Times Square Takeover

HTC’s clearly not wasting any opportunity to undermine Samsung, especially during their Times Square takeover with some guerrilla marketing tactics. While I stood in line and watched hired persons sporting HTC One gear pass out bottled water and hot chocolate, HTC had the One floating around Times Square just a few feet from Samsung’s Galaxy S 4 setup. Is this trolling or guerrilla marketing genius? You decide. YouTube

HTC One Release Date Delays Caused By Component Shortages?

Reports of delays surrounding the HTC One have been around for a week or so and now, according to the Wall Street Journal we’re finding out why. According to the WSJ report, component shortages have forced the manufacturer to push back the timetable for its flagship release. Except, that’s not the whole story. According to one unnamed HTC exec, these shortages are in part caused by suppliers no longer looking at HTC … [read full article]
