Cupcake FINALLY coming?

androidcupcake2

I think we can all live without recapping the large number of cupcake rumors/delays and more rumors. With that in mind and judging by emails coming into my inbox and this report from Engadgetmobile we’re starting to see users FINALLY getting their cupcake fill. T-mobile is still allowing for early June for all G1 users to receive their upgrade so if you don’t get it within the next 7 minutes, don’t huff … [read full article]

Another Android Video Leak

Thanks to our friends at Phonedog, we are getting a look at what is purported to be an HTC skinning of the Android interface complete with widgets, gadgets, lion, tigers and bears. Best guess, according to John from Phonedog is that its similar to the HTC Touchflo interface for Windows Mobile devices, this time just for Android. This doesn’t have the appearance of the “Donut” follow up to Cupcake, more likely just HTC going to work … [read full article]

Oy, Cupcake Gets Pushed Back!

g1june

After all that talk, all the anticipation, patient waiting and who knows what else we were that close to Cupcake. So close we could taste it, feel it and for some lucky few, using it. Unfortunately, as the image states, T-mobile is still working out the last few kinks and has pushed the rollout date back by at “approximately” a week. We’re hoping that they sincerely mean just one week and not two but time … [read full article]

Still Have Questions About Cupcake?!

gview

I know cupcake has taken up quite a bit of the news spots lately and for good reason, a million G1 users is a user base that can’t be ignored. So here we go, one more addition to the cupcake news cycle and then hopefully, and if you are still unfamiliar with the cupcake update then this sheet courtesy of our tipster might answer some questions. Of course, if you are a G1 user and unfamiliar … [read full article]

One Million G1's Sold!

1-million-iphones

Well, there was some pretty bleak news in today’s Q1 subscriber report but there was a bright spot for the G1. While obviously the million number sold is comparably small to iPhone sales, for T-mobile, its an impressive number regardless. According to the guys over at Telephony, the really interesting number is that T-mobile has roughly 1.5 million devices currently operating on its 3G network, which gives the G1 a 67% market share. While T-mobile had … [read full article]

How Many Apps?

0947

I came across an article from Fiercewireless this morning regarding the android application market and I got a little intrigued by a quote from T-mobile CTO Cole Brodman: T-Mobile CTO Cole Brodman said the average user of a T-Mobile G1, the first and (only, for now) phone in North America running on Google’s Android platform, has downloaded about 40 applications onto their phone. According to the article, 2300 applications currently exist on the Android market so I’m … [read full article]

T-mobile Poking a Little Fun

This little advertisement came to my attention via the guys over at AndroidCentral who like me, found some great humor in the last few seconds of the vid. Starting off with praises for the G1 from the usual gadget blog suspects, the video eneds with a “speechless” quote from a particular “Steve” whose last name is conspicuously left anonymously. Enjoy! Opera on the G1? Yes! Visual Voicemail? Yes, take that iPhone!

No matter how good the webkit browser is on the G1, people will always be looking for a better solution. Perhaps Opera is the answer to some prayers having hit the Android market. Crave that visual voicemail so you can pick and choose which love interest to call back first? Do that with visual voicemail as both features have landed and are taking the Android market by storm.  While current reviews … [read full article]

Not satisfied with White, Bronze or Black?!

Then colorware has the solution for you! Personally, I’ve always loved watching some of the color schemes these guys come up with and while I’m not brave enough to send my phone in, I can understand why someone else would. For just $175 bucks you can pretty up your phone to almost any color scheme of your choosing and show it off to all of your friends who are “stuck” with … [read full article]
