With the release of the Samsung Memoir and its 8 megapixel camera, cross promotion was inevitable among products in the T-mobile lineup. Lets take a trip back in time and remember the
Cameo, the T-mobile digital picture frame capable of wirelessly receiving pics from your mobile device. Turns out this thing is still around and with the release of the Memoir, currently the highest megapixel offering available in the states, T-mobile is looking to bring the Cameo back into the mix with a little promotion.
Starting today, with the purchase of a Samsung Memoir via new activation or qualified upgrade, the Cameo, priced at $39.99 will have a $40.00 mail in rebate making the final price…free! Well 1 cent in your favor, but you really don’t expect anyone to mail you a penny do you? The real kicker of this deal, the $9.99 monthly rate once necessary for this picture displayer thingamajig, is now priced at $1.99! Wooohooo, I love me some savings!

I know the lines were already getting started for this soon to be holiday blockbuster but unfortunately I am the bearer of bad tidings. The cameo has been delayed till the 19th!! After you’ve grabbed your box of kleenex and calmed down, we should mention that its only a 4 day delay and that you will still be able to send pictures of yourselves to Grandma before you know it!
On the other than, there is good news! My laptop is working which I am sure has been keeping everyone up at night waiting for my triumphant return to daily T-mobile musings.

It’s been a month now since we last mentioned this device and there’s no better time to bring it up again than now. The T-Mobile Cameo, a picture frame that can receive pictures via e-mail and/or picture message (MMS), is nearing its release and some details have surfaced.
So first off, sending pictures to your picture frame at home via E-MAIL? Who can say that doesn’t just sound cool? Not only can you send pictures directly from your phone to the frame by picture message (and not just your phone, but any phone) but anywhere you can get access to your email. On vacation out of state? Take a really good photo that you know your friend/family member would love to display, or just know you’ll want it on your own frame? The Cameo makes it really easy to receive and display sent pictures from afar, an easy way to display a great picture that anyone would love to show off. Read the full story

T-mobile is certainly doing its part lately to turn around the stigma that its slow to the punch with competitive products. No, I’m not talking about the G1 and normally I would link an article here but seriously, just keep scrolling down the page. I’m not talking about Blackberry Javelin, or the Blackberry Pearl 8220 Kickstart with the multiple names I just love saying or even the Shadow II, the future follow up to quite possibly one of my least favorite devices ever sold.
No no ladies and gents, we give you, the T-mobile picture frame, currently dubbed the “Cameo.” Love the name. For $100 dollars or 73.9645 Euros as the dollar continues to slide, you will be able to purchase this picture frame which includes its own sim card and a brand new phone number for MMS messaging pictures from anywhere you are, to anywhere the Cameo is. At your home or at your office, just MMS yourself the images you want to preserve most. Finally!
For $10 a month, you can shoot over as many pics as 64mb of onboard memory will hold. Think of how many pictures you can get of the kids with the Grandparents on there! When you are no longer having fun wirelessly messaging (seriously when you would get bored with that?), you are also offered a mini-USB port plus slots for sd cards to upload pictures manually, you know the OLD fashioned way. That just takes the fun out of doing out of this in my opinion and fun with the “cameo” is where its at.
Can I just point out a flaw in the picture up with this post? The picture in the frame of the phone on the left has no trees, on the right trees. No word on if trees are magically added to all your images.
Update: No word on if the $100 purchase price is contract based or full retail pricing. More details to come.
