While the launch of the BlackBerry Trackball Replacement Program is still two days away, T-Mobile retail stores are starting to receive shipments of the BlackBerry Trackball Replacement kits. As previously stated, we’re still expecting a February 24th launch unless there is another delay.
Anyone going to take advantage of this?

It looks like there has been a change of plans regarding the trackball replacement program T-Mobile was set to launch February 15th. Due to some changes that will be included with the trackball replacement kits, training for the T-Mobile Retail store representatives has been suspended. RIM is in the process of updating procedures and screenshots for the new tool. Training for T-Mobile Retail Store reps is scheduled to resume on February 8th. So instead of the program launching February 15th, it will launch February 24th. Looks like those of you waiting to get your BlackBerry trackball (Pearl 8100/8120 and 8320 Curve ONLY) replaced will have to wait a little over another week to do so. Heck, I’m happy T-Mobile is offering this!

It is always a sad day when a popular phone is killed off, and it appears that RIMs Blackberry 8900 is the next phone to be discontinued.  T-Mobile has said that the 8900 has “reached the end of it’s life cycle.”  Well, that was blunt of them.  Let’s just look towards the future, and hope for an 8910 in the future, a Pearl 9100 wouldn’t be bad either.  Honestly, I think this is RIMs way of waging war on trackballs (LONG LIVE THE TRACKPAD!!!!).  Leave your condolences in the comments!

Here some good news for those of you still rockin’ a BlackBerry…old skool yo. Beginning February 15th, BlackBerry Pearl 8100/8120 and BlackBerry Curve 8320 customers that are experiencing issues with the trackball, will have the option to visit a T-Mobile Retail Store and have their trackball replaced for FREE (No, you aren’t seeing things, at least this time around). The handset must be an 8100/8120 or 8320 purchased from T-Mobile. How kind of T-Mobile! This is just another example of how much T-Mobile cares about their customers!

UPDATE: As of 2:30 PM ET Blackberry BIS is starting to return to normal. Â Blackberry has isolated the issue and are working hard to return email to all users, so it should be better soon. Â Meanwhile, how is that brick breaker high score going?
It appears that Blackberry’s BIS email is down for most carriers throughout the US and even in Canada. Â No word on when the outage occurred, or when it will be fixed, but be faithful t0 Blackberry and they will certainly patch it up quick. Â BIS email should be the only thing that is affected since the browser, BlackBerry Messenger, voice and SMS are still working. Â In the meantime, sit back, hold tight and play some brick breaker. Â We will keep you informed as news becomes available.

There is just no end to the faults of technology, but we can’t live without it now, right?  Well, anyways, more outages are occurring, but this time in a global fashion.  It appears that Blackberry’s Internet Service (BIS) is down around the globe and isn’t localized to a specific carrier.  For those of you with shiny 9700s, I am truly sorry, you will just need to hang tight and wait to fully experience it.  Leave your thoughts in the comments!

This comes courtesy of the boys at Gizmodo who report Walmart as giving away a $100 gift card with the purchase of a shiny new Blackberry purchase. Taking place during the week of November 14th, that’s now for the  Gregorian calendar challenged. Giz reports you can take advantage of this in store and online and while I refuse to enter the Walmart located nearest my house, a little poking around Walmart’s wireless website didn’t find this offer. Sounds like this only applies to two year contract offerings, so those of you looking for the shackles of bondage to be removed need not apply. No word on whether or not the upcoming Blackberry 9700 Bold will be able to take advantage of this offer, nevertheless be out on time for said offer. Right now just the Blackberry 8520 and Pearl (Emerald) seem to be available.
If anyone can find a link on the Walmart website, let me know and I’ll update the post!

While this is not the announcement most of you are waiting patiently for, it’s good news all the same. T-Mobile, along with AT&T, will formally announce the Blackberry Bold 2 (9700) on October 21st.  Despite the fact that the announcement date most likely will not coincide with a release date, we doubt you’ll be waiting long. We’re still calling for a November 4th/11th launch of this, T-Mobile’s first 3G Blackberry.
