T-Mobile Says “Making Great Progress” On 4G Network Modernization

T-Mobile Senior Vice President Dave Mayo took to the company’s Insight and Issues blog this afternoon and provided us with a brief update on T-Mobile’s current 4G network modernization progress. Let’s hit some of the high-points as Mayo says that the first 400 modernized GSM/HSPA+ sites will be completed by the end of June, with more than 2,500 sites installed by the end of July. Of course, those sites are likely scattered … [read full article]

T-Mobile Memo Alerts Employees Of PCS/1900 HSPA+ Testing In San Francisco

We already knew that T-Mobile planned on “coincidentally” showing off their 1900/PCS HSPA+ refarmed network at tomorrow’s World Wide Developer Convention for Apple — and they are letting employees know this is the real deal. The memo doesn’t tell us anything we didn’t already know two days ago, including the sudden discovery of this effort by an “iPhone-using pedestrian” who just happened to be walking by the center. T-Mobile emphasizes that their … [read full article]

TELUS Announces LTE-Enabled Galaxy S III, Is T-Mobile Getting One Too?

Earlier today, Samsung Mobile Canada and TELUS Mobility announced that TELUS customers will be getting the Samsung Galaxy S III. While specifications (and any changes from the international model) were scarce, what is known is that TELUS will be receiving an AWS LTE enabled version. Now, we’re interested in a T-Mobile USA Galaxy S III, so why do we care about TELUS in Canada getting a Galaxy S III? We care because TELUS … [read full article]

T-Mobile, AT&T Continue Battle Over Claim Of Nations Largest 4G Network

T-Mobile currently lays claim to the title “America’s Largest 4G Network” based on coverage of 215 million people with HSPA+ technology. However, AT&T is working to one up that claim with their own figure of nearly 250 million people covered by their “4G network.” It was back in February when AT&T first tried to claim the title of the nation’s largest 4G network, but did so without providing any specific figures. Now, … [read full article]

(Updated With T-Mobile Statement) Verizon Posts 4G Speedtest Showdown, Guess Who Wins? It Begins With A “V.”

I just caught wind of Verizon’s “4G Throw Down” through a Fierce Wireless report and immediately thought “…who is Verizon kidding?” I mean come on, are we honestly expected to believe any other carrier stood a shot in a Verizon sponsored and operated test? This is a truly scientific experiment here Verizon, thank you so much for downloading the speedest.net app for the completely unsuspecting “non-actors” you stopped on the street. Sure, you have a bubbly girl … [read full article]

Mini Editorial: T-Mobile, Stop Attacking The iPhone On Slow Web Speeds?

Has T-Mobile’s next marketing salvo against the iPhone already begun? With both a tweet under their belt as well a captured image(s) of an advertisement running on IntoMobile, T-Mobile is attacking the slow internet speeds of the iPhone. You can be anti-iPhone, pro-Android or somewhere in-between and loving Windows Phone, but I’m really quite tired of T-Mobile attacking the iPhone. Why does the T-Mobile marketing team insist on attacking the one device … [read full article]

AT&T Version Of Samsung Galaxy Note Can Play Nice On T-Mobile With A Little Hackery

We first caught wind of this two days ago and took to Twitter to let the community know you can now run a AT&T Galaxy Note on T-Mobile, with some hacking. Thanks to the crazy smart members at XDA Developers, you can use the AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note (i717) and hack it to use T-Mobile’s 4G network, albeit with some caveats. There are actually two steps required to carry out this task … [read full article]
