Verizon Claims Fastest 4G Network; How Should T-Mobile Respond?

Well, what do we have here?  It’s another entry into the “4G” war by big red Verizon herself.  The above image, via Twitter, shows that Verizon is ready to tackle the 4G issue and formally enter the 4G war.  This time the ad hits AT&T where Verizon has enjoyed hitting them in the past, their 3G network.  Anyone remember the “There is a map for that” ad campaign?  While T-Mobile has enjoyed the … [read full article]

HTC HD7, A TmoNews Review

As some of you may know, I, along with David and Kickstar, picked up our very own Windows Phone 7 devices last week.  We became, essentially, the early adopters of this platform, just like many of you were early adopters of Android with the G1.  With little else to go on than a few short and opinionated reviews, we jumped on, hoping for something new and exciting.  Personally, I picked up the HD7, and these … [read full article]

T-Mobile Drops Official Statement On Even More Plus Availability

On Sunday there was a simple but surprisingly odd revelation that T-Mobile no longer offered the Even More Plus plans through T-Mobile.com.  In the past few days we’ve managed to pick up on quite a few theories, both public and private, about what brought about this change.  Well, T-Mobile has released official word regarding this and, while we are taking it at face value, we can’t but ask if this isn’t just a pre-cursor … [read full article]

“New And Improved” TmoNews

You might notice a new look around TmoNews this morning and, of course, you aren’t dreaming.  We did a little work on the site last night. We’ve cleaned up a little and, hopefully, you like what you see.  It is very very much a work in progress as I still hope to change, adopt and experiment with new features in the coming weeks and months. Most important though is the addition of the Disqus comment … [read full article]

Blackberry 9780 Now Available

So many of us discount Blackberry these days thinking they have fallen so far behind in the smartphone game they might never be able to catch up. The Blackberry 9780, launching today is a lot more evolutionary than revolutionary but perhaps the old adages “if it isn’t broke don’t fix it” applies well. The Blackberry 9700, predecessor to the 9700 was a rock, just an ultra reliable smartphone following the typical Blackberry mold. … [read full article]

T-Mobile Teams Up With AT&T & Verizon To Bring NFC Mobile Wallet System To The U.S

Today, T-Mobile announced that it is teaming up with the other two major U.S carriers, AT&T Mobility and Verizon Wireless to bring Isis, a mobile payment system to customers. Isis will use near-field communication (NFC) based technology to allow smartphone owners to use their handsets as a form of payment, thus replacing the need to carry around credit cards or even cash. Currently, there are no NFC enabled smartphones on the market, but one is coming … [read full article]

Samsung Vibrant Dock Arrives In Stores

The Samsung Vibrant remains one of the most popular (and attractive) devices in the T-Mobile lineup and what’s a popular phone with a beautiful screen without a dock? T-Mobile retail stores we’ve been told have begun receiving docks for use with the Vibrant as of yesterday. The dock, priced at $39.99 will act as a desktop speakerphone, charge your phone, provide a great angle for media viewing and it’ll automatically select the “dock” feature … [read full article]

(Updated: Happening Tonight!) Doing Some Housecleaning Tonight!

Update: Due to what can only be described as a freak lightning storm, we held off on the move and will try again this evening, November 16th! Just a quick note as the site undergoes a little maintenance tonight, it’ll be down for about an hour and then back with some small changes to the look! Most importantly, we’re re-implementing Disqus to add a little extra flavor to the comment system! We’ll see … [read full article]

Aaron Unboxes The Blackberry 9780

I have to admit a little Blackberry envy for the first time in I don’t know, a long time as I watch Aaron unbox the Blackberry 9780. Perhaps it’s just a little sentimental value for the Blackberry of old when BBM rocked my fingertips and I used to have a Transformers theme right after the first movie came out. Yeah, I did, I admit it, I was proud of my Bumblebee theme. While the Bold … [read full article]

Android Phone Updates Galore

I don’t know about you, but I really don’t like the ‘F’ word, that word being fragmentation of course.  How do we keep from saying such a bad word?  Updates of course, and T-Mobile has us covered on that front.  For those G2 users, your update for Wi-Fi calling and HotSpot should be done, and if not, it will be coming very soon.  An update for the myTouch 4G is also expected … [read full article]
