One of our readers got in touch this morning to inform us that the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S on T-Mobile is beginning its rollout today. And he must have caught it early because T-Mo’s general software updates progress page is still showing it as under “T-Mobile Testing”. Windows 10 for phones updates will arrive on all carriers’ phones simultaneously

If there’s one thing that’s frustrating about using carrier-locked Android phones, it’s waiting for software updates. Whether it’s having to wait months for the Android Lollipop software for the Note 4, or just waiting for a bug fix, it’s not the best consumer experience around. And it seems Microsoft will be taking a page from Apple’s book on this front in future devices. In a post on its Ignite blog, Microsoft confirmed that … [read full article]

At least one T-Mobile Galaxy S6 Edge user has Android 5.1.1 update

According to one XDA-Developers forum member, T-Mobile has started its rollout of Android 5.1.1 for the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. And by “rollout” we mean, one person has it so far, as far as we know. This strikes us as strange for a couple of reasons, primarily because T-Mobile devices generally don’t get software updates that quickly. Especially not skinned Samsung devices. (Galaxy Note 4, anyone?) Exactly how, then, this … [read full article]
