The list of phones these days that actually gets me into a frenzy remains remarkably short considering my nerd-like excitement over new devices. That being said, the Samsung Behold 2 was on the short list of phones I was really looking forward to getting for a hands-on evaluation and, thanks to the fine folks at Samsung, TmoNews has its very first review device.
Today, T-Mobile has officially released the Samsung Behold II. T-Mobile’s third Android enabled phone this year, is just in time for the holidays! Featuring a nice vibrant AMOLED 3.2 inch touch screen, Samsung’s TouchWiz interface, a 528MHz processor, 200MB internal memory, and 320MB of RAM. Although we were expecting a $199.99 2-year commitment price tag, it looks as if T-Mobile had a last minute change of mind on the pricing. The Behold 2 is available for $229.99 with a 2-year contract, and will include a nice 2GB microSD card, a carrying case, and all the other standard junk helpful stuff that comes inside the box. UPDATE 2: Official T-Mobile Press Release available after the jump!
Today T-Mobile has officially unveiled the Behold 2 at Samsung & T-Mobile’s joint press conference in New York City. Featuring a 3.2-inch AMOLED display, the Samsung Behold 2 will be running Samsung’s new and intuitive cube menu which provides quick access to six top multimedia features, including music, photos, videos, the Web, YouTube and Amazon MP3 for music downloads. What seems odd is that PhoneDogclaims the Samsung Behold 2 will pack a $229 2-year commitment price tag instead of the $199.99 2-year commitment price our leaked T-Mobile document displays. Stay tuned, as we will keep you updated the minute we find out more! Hit the jump for first impressions from CNETand Engadget!
We already had a little inkling the upcoming BlackBerry Bold 9700 would come with a $199.99 2-year commitment price tag. According to the price sheet we’ve leaked above, you can pick up a brand new BlackBerry Bold 9700 for $199.99 of course, with a 2-year commitment. If you dislike contracts (I wouldn’t blame you) the Bold 9700 will be available on November 16th for a $449.99 retail price. If you want to sign up with one of T-Mobile’s new Even More Plus plans you can divide the $449.99 retail price into 20 easy payments of $22.50/month.
The Samsung Behold 2 will also be available for the same $199.99 2-year commitment price tag and the same $449.99 retail price. Once again if you want to sign up with one of T-Mobile’s nifty new Even More Plus plans you can divide the retail price into 20 easy payments of $22.50/month. Did I mention no interest? The Behold 2 is expected to launch on November 18th. How are the prices looking? Too high, or reasonable? Leave your thoughts in the comments! Larger image after the jump!
The Samsung Behold 2 has gotten plenty of prime time love on the blog lately and deservingly so. Samsung’s first outing on T-Mobile will hopefully be met with lots of fanfare and glowing reviews. While we still await “official” specs, ninja sources have assured me there is very little lag in the interface and we can expect more hands on time later this week. Either way, there is a large gallery after the jump and expect to see more images added today and tomorrow.
With only 11 days remaining until the expected release date of the much anticipated Samsung Behold 2, we all want to know what the specs are and most importantly what version of the Android OS will it ship with. Today, via T-Mobile Phones Blog, it looks like the Behold 2 will sadly ship out with the outdated Android OS 1.5. But not to worry, a new video from Samsung Mobile has confirmed that the Behold 2 will indeed support Android OS 2.0, that is, “when it arrives”. Hey, it’s better than being stuck with OS 1.5. Enjoy the video above and if you haven’t already, check out the Samsung Behold 2 walk-through. Don’t forget to express your thoughts in the comments!
Our ninja sources are at it again, this time with a look at the Samsung Behold TouchWiz interface. The “Cube” is a different take on the Android platform and from the looks of the video, will either be a smashing hit, or a what were they thinking.
Edit: While the video might appear to showcase a little lag in the interface, the ninja source assures me that there is little lag and its just the choppy video.
The Behold 2 is a phone that should, by now, be familiar to our readers as Samsung’s first T-Mobile Android smartphone. We’ve seen pictures before of the device but live images have eluded bloggers everywhere–until now. While not much has seemingly changed from the Galaxy of which the Behold 2 is derived, this device looks ready to stand on its own. With the TouchWiz interface combined with Android users will get the best of both worlds, with a cube like interface capable of adding a little flair or the standard menu available to do that little thing called multitask. Arriving on November 18th with an expected street price of $249.99 the Behold 2 looks to capture Android marketshare on T-Mobile quickly and without mercy. I hope the latter is true because this looks like one sexy device and that’s exactly what Android on T-Mobile needs right now.
