Earlier today, Motorola had “accidently” released a test version of the update (Software version 1.3.8) for the Motorola Cliq. According to the description of the update, software 1.3.8 included improvements to the battery life, touchscreen sensitivity, improved GPS tracking, a new option for assigning functionality to a double-press of the home button, and more. As quickly as the update was leaked, it was soon pulled after approximately 15 mins. What does this leak mean? Well, it could mean that Motorola Cliq owners could be getting an official update pretty soon. For the Motorola Cliq owners who did manage to install the update, did you notice any other improvements? Let us know in the comments!

Reports are coming in regarding an anticipated Motorola Cliq OTA update that hopefully addresses a number of lingering issues. Set to improve battery life, touchscreen and Bluetooth response, the Cliq is in need of a fast fix. With yesterday’s reports of less than impressive sales combined with a rumored shift from T-Mobile marketing buzz for the Cliq, Motorola needed to address these issues quickly. And while the Cliq may be overshadowed by the Droid in terms of marketing power right now, as the first phone to show off MotoBlur, we expect Motorola to address concerns in a more than timely manner. We can only hope Cliq users see benefits from today’s update and we’ll report back as we learn more.
- Increased battery life when phone is idle or running applications
- New battery management feature, customize battery settings, such as turning data off when phone idle for 30mins
- Improved bluetooth for pairing, audio/call connections
- Improved touchscreen accuracy and reduced inadvertent screen touch pick-ups
- TTY Options
- Better business/corporate connections
- Improved caller connectivity, repairs issues with lingering connections after hanging up a call
- Quick Office 2 added
- Accelerometer Enhancements with responsiveness and accuracy
It’s recommended to download/install with a full battery/plugged in, and with a consistent 3G or Wifi connection active.
The Motorola Cliq is the phone of the moment for T-Mobile and should you be looking to pick it up, why not save some money? Our friends at Wirefly have alerted us to some savings going down for T-Mobile customers, to the tune of $119.99 for new activations. Looking to upgrade? Perfect, save 30 bucks and go with the Wirefly discount of $169.99. Listen, I’m all about savings these days as the holidays are around the corner and the gift lists start stacking up. If I can save myself a little cash while getting me a shiny brand new Motorola Cliq, I’m going to do just that.
I believe advertising is essential in any marketing campaign. Advertising is a key component, and if a company can advertise effectively, most of the time the product will successfully sell. Motorola aired a nice ad yesterday after the Yankees baseball game, which in my opinion effectively introduced the Motorola Cliq. It consisted of just the right amount of humor without overdoing it and was simple and right to the point. Check out the ad above for yourself and let us know what you think about it! Do you think it is effective? Why or why not?
Today marks the day Motorola begins its foray into the Android world, officially. While the pre-order might have taken place almost 2 weeks ago, today is the day you can stroll right into your local T-Mobile retail store and scoop up your very own Motorola Cliq. You can choose from any color, as long as its Winter White or Titanium. You can MotoBlur yourself to your heart’s content, and you can do it all on no contract. So don’t wait, run to your nearest T-Mobile store and help Motorola stay in business another day or two.
A while back we showed you high quality pics of T-Mobile’s newest Android device, the Motorola Cliq with MotoBlur. This being Motorola’s first Android device, I have to admit that I really enjoyed it. T-Mobile has a nicely done advertisement for the Cliq (with a nice tune as well). Check out the video and hopefully T-Mobile will actually advertise this MotoBlur powered Moto, whether it be websites, TV ads, etc. If you’re still contemplating whether or not you want the Cliq, maybe some reviews will help decide? Remember existing customers can pre-order and receive their Cliq no later than November 2nd, but new customers have to wait until the November 2nd release date. Feel free to express your thoughts/opinions in the comments!
With T-Mobile announcing the official pre-ordering date for the Cliq on the19th, it looks like the MotoBlur powered device has already landed in some T-Mobile subscribers hands. And if you still can’t decide whether you want the Motorola Cliq, maybe some in-detail pics will help you decide? I have to admit this baby looks beautiful and very solid. If you’re a current T-Mobile subscriber feel free to pre-order the Cliq and receive it no later than November 2nd. And if your planning on switching over to T-Mobile (which is a GREAT idea) you guys will have to wait until the November 2nd release date. Hit the jump for some more snapshots (including box art) of the Motorola Cliq! Feel free to express your thoughts/opinions in the comments.
