Android users still rockin’ a T-Mobile G1 it looks like there’s hope! A lot of you have been frustrated that Google may not be updating the first Android device (G1) to the new and improved Android 2.0. Android 2.0 includes many new features such as the new Turn-By-Turn Google directions in their Google Map Application, confirmed to be preinstalled in the new 2.0 software. However, where does that leave current G1 owners? Well, looks like you may not miss all the fun after all. Referencing this video, some developer has managed to port Android 2.0 (Eclair) over to the G1. Before you start crying tears of joy, since the G1 doesn’t have the “power” to handle the 2.0 software, it is very sluggish and barely usable. However, note this is not the final build of Android 2.0, so do keep that in mind. Enjoy the video and don’t forget to share your thoughts/opinions with us in the comments!

Well here is some good news for those wishing to switch to the G1, or just Android. T-Mobile has decided to lower the price of the first Android phone to $129.99 on contract. Saying that that this is the same price as the Samsung Comeback, and twenty dollars cheaper than the Samsung Highlight, I would definitely recommend going Android. It seems like they are trying to clear the shelves for something (Cliq maybe? Wait, is that even a question?). So for those who want to switch to Android a little early, go get yourself a G1. Eagerly waiting for the price on the Blackberry Curve 8900 to go down? The wait is over because thanks to T-Mobile and RIM (Research In Motion) you can now send in your old phone and get $50 off toward a new Blackberry Curve series model. Yes that includes the Curve 8900, Curve 8520, and Curve 8320. More details after the jump!

While the G1 has been snacking on Cupcake, or Android 1.5, for quite some time now, it seems as though it will be too full to eat any more desserts. While the first Android phone graced us with its presence, its hardware is lacking and is forcing it to be left out to get stale. Dave Sparks, an Android software engineer, has said that devs “won’t be able to fit the latest [Android] release on the G1’s internal flash” soon. Blame HTC for baking the G1 with a lack of internal storage, and an inability to support app storage / loading from a microSD card (well, unless you root it, of course). Long story short, G1 users may not be able to taste Donut, Eclair, Flan or whatever other dessert that Google has baking in the oven.

UPDATE: Memory limitations aside, T-Mobile has said that they “plan to continue working with Google to introduce future software updates to the T-Mobile G1. Reports to the contrary are inaccurate.” Now, lets just hope these are tasty updates and not run of the mill security updates.
