With the Sidekick Outage debacle behind us, Microsoft/Danger is making sure the data loss “incident” doesn’t occur again. Reports are coming in that Sidekick LX 2009 users are receiving an Over-the-Air (OTA) Update today (OS 5.0/270115). According to Hiptop3, the OTA is a combination of bug fixes and the new Mobile Backup support T-Mobile announced a while back. The OTA should also rectify problems such as freezing and crashing, many Sidekick LX 2009 users incurred. The OTA might cause your Sidekick to hard reset, so there is no need to worry, since all your data should be backed up to Danger’s servers. After the update, Sidekick LX 2009 users can feel secure, since your address book will be backed up to T-Mobile’s servers as well! Some screenshots of Mobile Backup Support in action after the jump! Let us know if you’ve received the OTA and whether or not you’ve noticed any other significant changes in the comments!
While the expected launch date for the Sidekick LX was May 13th, it looks as if a few lucky individuals are receiving their shipments almost a full 2 weeks early. Anyone complaining about that? Didn’t think so! Courtesy of a fine gentlemen over at Hiptop3 we get a whole bunch of in the wild unboxing pics which do significantly more justice for the device than that other unboxing video! Hit the link below for a WHOLE lot of in the wild unboxing shots! There is enough here to keep those of you still waiting for your pre-order fantasizing all the way to the 13th of May.
Courtesy of the boys at Engadgetmobile who attended last nights Sidekick announcement, we get a pretty in depth hands on with plenty of glimpses at the exciting features of this T-mobile staple device!
There really isn’t much else I can say about this video but apparently, according to the Engadget guys and the linked youtube page its perfectly legit. That makes it just the creepiest unboxing video I have ever seen. Well, T-mobile, I really have no idea what you were thinking with this one.
Reports are coming in strong and steady that April 21st is definitely going to be a Sidekick launch party. All that hope for the next Android device needs to get swept aside for the moment and focus on the Sidekick line, still a T-mobile staple. While our invitation to this event most certainly seems to have gotten lost in the mail, we’re not even sure we’d really care to go anymore. As much as we appreciate the Sidekick line, Android is really the only thing we are anticipating eagerly these days. So we will continue our dutiful watch for the next Android news and of course, keep you guys up to date!

Basically confirming what we have already known, a leaked memo from magenta herself all but confirms some of the specs we have been hearing on the new Sidekick LX09. We’re certainly looking forward to pricing details leaking tomorrow and we’ll have them posted as soon as we get them!
Get Ready for the New Sidekick LX
T-Mobile is preparing to launch the thinnest Sidekick ever, with blazing fast 3G connectivity for customers to connect with friends quickly and easily.
The new Sidekick LX will come equipped with GPS enabled Live Search, a 3.2 megapixel camera, and free bundled social networking applications including Facebook, My Space, and Twitter. Customers will also be able to watch and download You Tube videos directly from the device.
The new Sidekick LX comes equipped with the features that customers love including a full QWERTY keyboard and an enhanced swivel screen that is larger and sharper than any other Sidekick. Additional information regarding launch dates, pricing and availability will be available on the Retail Communication Home Page on April 17.
Hot on the heels of yesterdays post showing the Sidekick LX09 showing up in the T-mobile’s inventory, today we get word of the very same device, PV300 passing through the halls of the FCC. This device of course comes complete with the AWS 3G bands we all know and love for our beloved magenta and is just one more piece of the puzzle offering up a brand new sidekick to magenta very very soon. Not much else to report here or showcasing things we don’t already know but if reading through FCC docs suits your fancy, hit the link!
Well we already had some pretty good ideas that a new sidekick was on the way. So that being said this isn’t really breaking news as much as it further confirmation that a device is on the way. Our tipster turned in a screen shot from T-mobile’s inventory system showing the sidekick LX09 ready and waiting for arrival. Its more of a tease than anything else as expectations still place the devices arrival May 13th of next month. Still, its always nice to see little screen shots like this to build up a little more excitement.
So this week marks CTIA, the wireless trade show that previews future happenings of the American wireless industry. Phonearena did a preview of what to expect for all the carriers and while we aren’t expecting any surprises, we do hope for confirmation on a few devices. First off, the Sidekick 2009, a device we’ve already had some CTIA thoughts about courtesy of Noah from Phonedog. The sidekick line hasn’t seen a whole lot of love in recent months and an overhaul would be a most welcome change to a T-mobile staple device.
Next, we’re talking G2/Magic/Dream/Sapphire, quite possibly the most anticipated T-mobile device in recent months. Having recently passed the FCC, and causing quite the stir, the rumor mill continues to churn out hope for a CTIA release. We’re not banking money on this one, but we’re pulling for an announcement. Personally, I’d like to see this announced over any of the other possibles we can hope to hear from T-mobile or its manufacturer partners this week.
Next up, the TouchPro2, a phone more than a few of you have been asking about ever since a screen shot of possible T-mobile USA software popped up last week. Twitter and my inbox have been out of control with questions regarding the possible launch of this for T-mobile. Desparate to replace your outdated wings, more than a few of you are definitely looking for a possible announcement of this device in T-mobile magenta markings.
Well those are, courtesy of the guys from Phonearena, the 3 devices we most hope to see from T-mobile this week. The real question is, what else do you guys want to see? Sound off in the comments!
