With the Sidekick Outage debacle behind us, Microsoft/Danger is making sure the data loss “incident” doesn’t occur again. Reports are coming in that Sidekick LX 2009 users are receiving an Over-the-Air (OTA) Update today (OS 5.0/270115). According to Hiptop3, the OTA is a combination of bug fixes and the new Mobile Backup support T-Mobile announced a while back. The OTA should also rectify problems such as freezing and crashing, many Sidekick LX 2009 users incurred. The OTA might cause your Sidekick to hard reset, so there is no need to worry, since all your data should be backed up to Danger’s servers. After the update, Sidekick LX 2009 users can feel secure, since your address book will be backed up to T-Mobile’s servers as well! Some screenshots of Mobile Backup Support in action after the jump! Let us know if you’ve received the OTA and whether or not you’ve noticed any other significant changes in the comments!
Some good news for Sidekick fans out there (the few that are left)! T-Mobile has finally resumed the selling of its Sidekick handsets. Now that T-Mobile seems to have most of the user data recovered, they are looking to put the past behind them and start off fresh, and that includes lower prices! The Sidekick LX 2009 is now available for a $149.99 with a 2-year commitment price tag, and the Sidekick 2008 will run for $49.99 with a 2-year commitment. So if you’ve been itching for a Sidekick device, now’s your chance! T-Mobile statement below:
“T-Mobile is pleased to announce that Sidekick sales have resumed. New pricing for the Sidekick LX 2009 will be $149.99 with a two-year contract and the Sidekick 2008 will be $49.99 with a two-year contract.”
Its been a while since we’ve heard any updated info from T-Mobile regarding the Sidekick Outage. But it looks like T-Mobile has finally managed to recover all data that was lost for Sidekick users. Yesterday T-Mobile announced via their forums that now Sidekick users can proceed to recover calendar, to-do list and notes that were previously lost as part of the Danger/Microsoft service disruption. Follow the easy steps after the break to recover your calendar, to-do list and notes! And don’t forget to let us know if this worked for you in the comments!
Today marks the day Motorola begins its foray into the Android world, officially. While the pre-order might have taken place almost 2 weeks ago, today is the day you can stroll right into your local T-Mobile retail store and scoop up your very own Motorola Cliq. You can choose from any color, as long as its Winter White or Titanium. You can MotoBlur yourself to your heart’s content, and you can do it all on no contract. So don’t wait, run to your nearest T-Mobile store and help Motorola stay in business another day or two.
With T-Mobile announcing the official pre-ordering date for the Cliq on the19th, it looks like the MotoBlur powered device has already landed in some T-Mobile subscribers hands. And if you still can’t decide whether you want the Motorola Cliq, maybe some in-detail pics will help you decide? I have to admit this baby looks beautiful and very solid. If you’re a current T-Mobile subscriber feel free to pre-order the Cliq and receive it no later than November 2nd. And if your planning on switching over to T-Mobile (which is a GREAT idea) you guys will have to wait until the November 2nd release date. Hit the jump for some more snapshots (including box art) of the Motorola Cliq! Feel free to express your thoughts/opinions in the comments.
Now that there is finally a way to restore those precious contacts you might have lost, you may still have a few questions buzzing around waiting to be answered. Over the next few days, T-Mobile will notify affected customers of this update via SMS advising them to log in to My T-Mobile. Customers who do not have access to a computer can contact Customer Service for help in restoring their contacts. In addition, we received a nice little Q&A that will help answer all the questions you may have floating around your head (related to the Sidekick outage of course). Once again Microsoft and Danger are still are working around the clock to recover all data lost because of the Sidekick Outage. Hit the jump for the Q&A. If you still have any questions that remain, don’t hesitate to post them in the comments!

You can have all your contacts in ten easy steps! It’s easy as cake! Hit the break to see the steps! Don’t forget to leave your thoughts/opinions in the comments!
Well here we go again! Another update from Microsft/Danger. Microsoft says they still continue to work around the clock on restoring sidekick users data that was lost and apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. They claim they’re making steady progress and hope to have all personal contacts restored by this week and the remainder of the personal info (photographs, notes, to-do-lists, marketplace data, and highscores) shortly after. Statement from Microsoft/Danger below:
The Danger / Microsoft team is continuing to work around the clock on the data restoration process. We apologize that this is taking so long, but we want to make sure we are doing everything possible to maintain the integrity of your data. We continue to make steady progress, and we hope to be able to begin restoring personal contacts for affected users this week, with the remainder of the content (photographs, notes, to-do-lists, marketplace data, and high scores) shortly thereafter.
This data restoration effort is only necessary for customers who lost data from their Sidekick devices. We appreciate your ongoing patience.
I guess if this all gets sorted out, T-Mobile won’t be handing out those $100 gift cards. Don’t forget to leave your thoughts/opinions in the comments!
