Editorial: T-Mobile’s New Plans Are Awesome For Everyone

Earlier today, T-Mobile held an event to show off the new plans and payment schemes for service and phones. There weren’t many surprises given all the leaks we’ve had in the last few weeks about T-Mobile’s “Uncarrier” offering. Like John Legere promised back in December, the new plans are very simple and pretty easy to understand once you grasp the basic concepts behind the plans. When looking at them on the website, … [read full article]

Editorial: T-Mobile Needs To Focus On The Real Network Issue: The Large Swath Of 2G-Only Markets

After T-Mobile’s announcements last week, I spent some time over the weekend evaluating T-Mobile’s work over the last two years. We all remember how T-Mobile was effectively paralyzed by the attempted acquisition by AT&T in 2011, and how it really messed up the company. Initially, I felt that T-Mobile’s announcement of the modernization of its network throughout 2012 was a great plan. I was hopeful that this would finally mean that T-Mobile will … [read full article]

TELUS Announces LTE-Enabled Galaxy S III, Is T-Mobile Getting One Too?

Earlier today, Samsung Mobile Canada and TELUS Mobility announced that TELUS customers will be getting the Samsung Galaxy S III. While specifications (and any changes from the international model) were scarce, what is known is that TELUS will be receiving an AWS LTE enabled version. As mentioned before, T-Mobile retail, retail partner stores (authorized dealers) and customer care are all getting in on the sale fun tomorrow. Standard upgrade rules and migration fees … [read full article]

In the comments of the article about the analyst positing $9 billion for LTE deployment, many people were puzzled on why everyone is so focused on T-Mobile needing to deploy LTE. The obvious marketing answer is that everyone else has it, so T-Mobile needs to be competitive and deploy it to be able to say that they’ve got it too. By itself, that is an incredibly stupid reason to spend billions of … [read full article]

In a rather unusual course of action, T-Mobile has apparently decided to discount the retail prices of the Motorola CHARM and the T-Mobile MyTouch 3G with 3.5mm Jack. The Motorola CHARM has been discounted from $269.99 to $199.99, and the T-Mobile MyTouch 3G with 3.5mm Jack has been discounted from $399.99 to $299.99. T-Mobile G-Slate Includes Free Pair Of 3D Glasses

Well, this is interesting! Back at Mobile World Congress, LG stated that the LG Optimus Pad (known in the USA as the T-Mobile G-Slate) would not have a glasses-free 3D display, and instead it would require a separately sold pair of 3D glasses to properly watch 3D content on the tablet. For the record, this pair of glasses will be the famed Red and Blue variant you are all so familiar with. … [read full article]
