T-Mobile’s latest #DefeatDuopoly video is just plain awesome

As you will undoubtedly know by now, T-Mobile is going to be taking part in one of the biggest wireless spectrum auctions America has ever seen. The 600MHz incentive auction is due to kick off next year and as things stand, the two biggest carriers look likely to swoop up the majority of the spectrum. As they did in the AWS-3 spectrum auction last year. While AT&T and Verizon are lobbying hard to … [read full article]

Deal: Save on the Nexus 6 and Moto X until tomorrow

Since reinventing itself with the launch of the first generation Moto X a couple of years ago, Motorola has become one of the favorite Android OEMs among tech aficionados. It offers hardware customizability like none other, and sells possibly the best Nexus device we’ve seen since the original Nexus One. And – until tomorrow, June 23rd – you can save on some of the company’s best products. Until 10:59am Central Time tomorrow, you … [read full article]

Android 5.1.1 rolling out for T-Mobile Galaxy S5

T-Mobile’s working hard to change its reputation for rolling out software updates late. At least, it is with the Samsung Galaxy device range. The latest device on the fine magenta carrier to get Android 5.1.1 is last year’s divisive Galaxy S5.  From today, T-Mobile customers rocking the “Band Aid phone” will be able to download and install the latest public Android version.  T-Mo is yet to update the phone’s support page[read full article]

Los Angeles, Chicago and Houston among major T-Mobile markets having their AWS 3G/4G networks shut down this summer

Some of you may be aware already that T-Mobile – as part of its network modernization process – is shutting down its AWS HSPA+ network in a number of markets this year. As it builds out its LTE network, T-Mo wants to recycle its older network technology. This move has actually been planned for some time now, but there are some pretty big markets having their AWS 1700/2100 4G/3G (U2100) networks shut-down now, … [read full article]

Do T-Mobile and Dish need each other?

Earlier today I read an article over at Seeking Alpha, written by a research analyst and author named Brian Nichols. In it he argues that Dish and T-Mobile need each other. And after reading, I’m hard pushed to find a strong argument against it. It highlights something we’ve known for a long time. But, like anyone not wanting to admit to any kind of defeat, we convince ourselves that “it’ll … [read full article]

Cam’s Top 5 – Unlocked Budget T-Mobile friendly phones

T-Mobile sells some of the best – and most expensive phones – on the market. But perhaps what’s surprising is that there are a bunch of affordable phones on the market that can (almost) give those devices a run for their money. And they’re not available on T-Mobile’s store shelves. While that means that they don’t come with services like Wi-Fi Calling baked in, it does mean that they’re factory unlocked and free … [read full article]

FCC chief to recommend voting against T-Mobile’s request for more reserve spectrum at auction

According to a report on Bloomberg, the FCC is likely to reject the request made by T-Mobile to reserve more spectrum for smaller carriers/companies and next year’s incentive auction. “Federal Communications Commission Chairman Tom Wheeler will recommend the agency deny T-Mobile’s request, according to two people familiar with briefings agency officials have given industry representatives. They spoke on condition of anonymity because the meetings weren’t public.” Last year, T-Mobile – … [read full article]

[UPDATE - Comcast not interested] Deutsche Telekom allegedly in talks with Comcast over T-Mobile sale

UPDATE – Comcast has denied these rumors according to Reuters. Looks like we dodged a bullet there. Batman will not be working for Falcone.  If you could list all the U.S. companies you’d least like to end up buying or merging with T-Mobile, I’m pretty sure Comcast would be right up there with the likes of Verizon and AT&T. Sadly though, rumors from supposedly reputable sources in Germany – according … [read full article]
