T-Mobile Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ receiving updates

galaxynote5

Days after T-Mobile pushed updates to its Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, it’s begun updating another pair of Samsung phones.

The Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ are now receiving a security update. TmoNews reader Jean Carlos received an update on his Note 5 today that weighed in at 14.34MB. The update for the S6 edge+ is similarly small, coming in at 14.46MB.

As for what’s included, the update says that it improves the security of the device. Jean Carlos found that his Note 5 was still on the January 1, 2017 security level after installing the update, though, so apparently it doesn’t include new Android security patch level. T-Mobile’s support site says that the updates include “Various system improvements.”

If you’ve got a Galaxy Note 5 or S6 edge+, you should see the new update hit your phone over the coming days. You can also check for it manually by going into Settings > About device > Download update manually.

Thanks, Juan Carlos!

Just in case anyone is interested, the Note 5 32GB version (Certified Pre-Owned) is now available from T-Mobile for $480.

Seems quite high for only a 90 day warranty period and no expandable storage.

I considered it,but, after thinking about it,came to a similar conclusion.
I’d already had the phone before,so,in the end, I decided not to get it.
        $20/month is easy,but,as you mentioned,it is a used phone w/only a 90 day warranty.

You can get a mint condition used Note 5 for around $300-$350 now

      • KOLIO

Yeah,I saw similar pricing on Swappa, one of the reasons I eventually decided against getting T-Mobile’s $480 CPO Note5.

My Note5 and S6Edgeplus is very happy today. That was the past my S8Plus is now on the way to ring in 2017.

I find it hilarious that you talk as if your Note 5 and S6 have feelings, and that you think your S8 is going to be fighting something/someone. How delusional/messed up in the head are you?
