samsunggalaxys8midnightblacktmo

Right on schedule, T-Mobile has started taking pre-orders for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+.

Both of Samsung’s new Android flagships are now available for pre-order from T-Mobile, hours after their official debut. Pricing for the Samsung Galaxy S8 is set at $30 down and $30 per month for 24 months on EIP, or $0 down and $33 per month with JUMP! On Demand. Full retail pricing for the S8 is set at $750.

Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy S8+ is priced at $130 down and $30 per month for 24 months on EIP, with the same down payment and monthly payment amount for JUMP! On Demand. Full retail price for the S8+ is $850.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ will launch on April 21. Customers that pre-order before that date can get a free Gear VR headset with controller and Oculus Bonus Content. A limited edition premium bundle will also be available, adding Bluetooth headphones from AKG and a 256GB microSD card for $99.

MetroPCS customers, you’ll be able to buy the Galaxy S8 starting on April 21 for $729. If you do buy from MetroPCS on April 21, you’ll receive a free Gear VR with controller and Oculus Bonus Content bundle.

Now that they’re officially available for pre-order, are you going to get a Galaxy S8 or S8+? If so, which model and color will you be choosing?

Lol did the black sell out already?

    • use the Mobile site, the desktop site is having issues. Got mine in just fine on Mobile site for the GS8+.

    • Vizzy

They never sell out they just get back ordered

      • icwhatudidthere

Good point. It was saying something like not available for the Black S8. Then it worked for a few minutes, I got my order in and now it looks like the upgrade page is not working again.

  • Jay Holm

I have already completed my order and signed my EIP!

    • Vizzy

That’s quick, they told me within 2 hours I keep refreshing my inbox lol

      • Jay Holm

I completed and signed my EIP by 7 minutes after 11, (Texas time)

        • Joe

I signed the EIP while I was still on the phone with the rep, it was quick.

        • Jay Holm

Phone w/rep?!?!? I was told there is a stupid $20 upgrade fee for upgrading over the phone, that’s why I did it over the website.

        • Joe

Since I have JOD I had to call it in that was my only option. The $20 fee is waived though for JOD customers. I read it somewhere on the T-mobile website don’t remember where.

        • Galaxy_Fan

It is in the JOD agreement that you do not pay the $20 fee after the first phone. I did get the $20 fee waived on my first phone starting JOD so no $20 fee at all for me.

  • Vizzy

Was a quick easy process I was on the phone for at least 10 minutes no hold times straight to a customer service rep I was able to order the black S8 plus for a total of 221 with the down payment taxes and some other bs charges lol. She told me the phone will ship out the 19th hopefully sooner

    • Joe

How come you had to pay $221? I was charged $139 only.

      • Vizzy

Taxes around 50, I did it over the phone so there was a $20 fee

        • Jay Holm

Screw that stupid $20!!! That is exactly why I ordered online, to avoid that stupid fee.

  • mike hernandez

i just ordered using jump.. can someone clarify the pre order bonuses please. i was told i had to choose either a free vr and games OR pay $99 for 256 sd card and akg headphones. but i read here you get the vr and games regardless and the option for the $99 premium sd card and headset .

    • Joe

According to the rep the $99 is additional for the headphones and micro SD card, but you get the VR + Controller and $50 Oculus gift card no matter what. You just have to sign up for it in order to get the gifts

  • AnitaJob

It sure is busy with telesales. My calls has been disconnected 3 times and here I am still waiting to speak with someone. I better get free overnight shipping :)

    • Vizzy

      Offering overnight shipping already

      • AnitaJob

I guess I’m going to demand a credit for the infamous simcard kit then…..or are they waiving that also?

      • Really? They only gave me 3-day or 7-day shipping options.

      • Nakrohtap

That’s because they sit in the warehouse for a week before they are sent out to you. They have a few in the country and route basically overnight from them the closest to your area.

  • J.J.

No luck online or phone crashing everywhere

  • Vizzy

I’m in the eastern time zone so preorders started here at 12:01 I called 1155 got in contact with a sales rep at 11:57 spoke to them for a couple minutes about the weather and as soon as pre-order started we got the ball rolling

    • Johnny De Jesus

Lol smart. I decided to wait 30 min waiting for all the crazyness to finish but it backfired bigtime. The first 30min all was good and now almost 1am everything is crashed. Ugh

  • mike

Everything is crashing and customer service said that the sales system is down so my order was not placed.

  • Rosario

Upgrading another line on the account and first rep tried to do it and kept crashing, said to call back. Called back (waited about 20mins) and the rep said I had to do it online thru my tmobile account. Maybe because its a jump? But of course its not listed, Im so confused.

Edit: Finally popped up and was able to upgrade to a S8+, time for bed.

  • mreveryphone

Tried to order the orchid gray S8+ but it crashed on me… Will call them in the morning…
*Edit* Tried once more before going to sleep on my tablet and the order went through… System should be moving fine now considering I got rejected twice before… Now I can rest well… Hopefully the Jordan Royal 1 release will go this smoother…

    • CousinSkeeta

I feel u on both those…i feel like no one wants that color but me

      • steadymobb

        That’s the color I got

  • Justan Baca

It took a while but I managed to do 2 JUMP upgrades for S8+ and one regular upgrade for an S8. i can go to sleep peacefully now

  • Joe

Already ordered the S8+ in black! Paid $139 on the spot. I have JOD on my line so I had to call it in.

  • mike

Called in three times and this time it took got my S8 in silver ordered and EIP signed! JOD upgrade!

    • EIP and JOD are two completely different programs.

      • mike

Well I had to sign my lease agreement and it shows up as a JOD order

  • Rami Abdelmajid

Really annoyed by having to pay $130 upfront and $30 a month for the S8+ for JOD users. I’d rather pay $37 a month with $0 down….And here I am getting jealous of Verizon because they charge $0 down and $35 a month for an S8+.

    • Mike

agreed. i specifically opted for the normal s8 so i wouldnt have to pay that up front because i have every intention of jumping again to the note 8 when it comes out in the fall. wasnt worth the extra $130 up front to me

    • Nakrohtap

Their policy is total garbage. They seem to change it at will to suit their needs. The S8+ is a different model, not different configuration, so it should be considered a base model. All JOD should be zero down. Period.

      • J.J.

Amen! They get you on the hook with the promise of 0 down then pick and choose at will to suck money out of you. Back in the day i use to just put a little extra down on eip, keep phone a year pristine, sell, and have enough to reimburse my pay off and have down payment on my next to start the process over. Thinking bout jumping to the cheapest phone, paying it off to exit, and being satisfied with one upgrade a year

    • Khuram Shahzad

Remember 37 a month plus tax is around 45$+ Jod you pay taxes in the bill every month compared to finance taxes are taken before hand .

      • Rami Abdelmajid

I’d still rather do it that way with zero down . But I was under the impression that JOD included taxes within the monthly already. Either way I’d rather pay less than $130 or $0 down

      • Sam_Austin

That is one of the advantages of JOD. With financing or with regular Jump you pay taxes upfront on the full price of the device. With JOD you only pay the taxes for the months you keep the device. When I had Jump 1 (upgrade 2x/yr) I was paying full taxes four times over two years. But paying a down payment really screws up JOD. At least it’s just for the S8 Plus, but I still hate it and I’ll try to get around it or wait.

  • icwhatudidthere

Got my order confirmation email and it says the order date is March 29. The Gear VR offer says preorder between Mar 30 and Apr 20. Think that’ll end up being an issue?

    • Khuram Shahzad

As long as the order was placed in the promo time frame you are good T-Mobile goes by the date you placed the order not when it’s shipped

      • icwhatudidthere

Yeah, that’s the problem. The promotion says pre-order between 3/30 and 4/20. I placed my order a 3/30 12:30 am Eastern time but T-Mobile’s receipt shows Pacific time at 3/29 9:30pm.

        • Nakrohtap

IIRC, this was an issue for some early Note7 buyers as well. The promotion was rejected and they had to jump through hoops to get it corrected.

  • Brian Richards

There’s some major issues. CHECK YOUR ORDER.

I did two upgrade orders on Jump for s8 pluses. One went through fine on EIP and $204 and change out the door.

The second order showed $204 and change, I signed the EIP, clicked submit and on the next page it CHANGED THE ORDER to $1054 and change for a one time payment instead.

Two reps hung up on me rather than deal with it.

the third one says I’m the FIFTH person tonight with a problem like this, but his system won’t let him fix it. In callcenter hell right now.

    • Brian Richards

Now they have fixed the order, but I NO LONGER SHOW ANY CREDIT FOR MY S7 ON JUMP TRADE IN. But they are singing and dancing that that part can be fixed later no problem…. suuuuure.

      • Khuram Shahzad

On the order page does it show you trading in the s7 saying you jumped ? The credit shows up once they receive the phone if not then cancel the order better to go to a retail store and make sure things go right and have them place the order . According to Samsung from android authority inventory will not be a problem that’s one of the reason it was a late launch they have to meet demand cause of the note 7

  • Mike

S8 black on JOD via a few calls. $0 up front. $25 credit for problems encountered. lease signed.

  • rretretertre

  • Myl35

So I wonder if the S8 will ship out early like my S7 edge did???

    • Vizzy

Doubt it I remember for the note 7 Samsung stopped that

  • NardVa

I’m gone patiently wait for T-Mobile to run a special. Not interested in paying more than $400 for any phone.

    • Sam_Austin

Rep said there would be a promotion after release

      • Corey Jalette

I wouldn’t believe that till I see it in writing. They say those things to keep you around. Lol

  • Bklynman

    Mmmm

  • Philip

I am getting too old for a new phone every year. I am going to wait like what they did on the S7 few weeks ago. Go on sale for $470 because S9 is coming, then I get the S8.

    • Jared

That’s is exactly what I did. I just bought S7 earlier this month for $360 (+taxes). They also had thr S7 plus for around $460 if i remember correctly. I did the S7 with EIP for $15/mo for 24mo. Couldn’t pass up the deal. I’ll probably get an S8 same time next year if T-mobile offers something similar.

  • Vizzy

My next dilemma … Not impressed with the case lined up so far

    • mreveryphone

      Amazon…

      • Vizzy

Nothing good, usually get spigens but they are very bland this time around

        • mreveryphone

Awe man.. Going to check now… Thanks for the heads up…

  • J.J.

Seriously debating leaving jod behind. At this rate jumping 3 times a year for a premium phone can potentially cost $390 in up front cost plus 35+ a month. Overall for three phones the cost is not bad but it’s just unfortunate since i signed up in the beginning only because no up front cost.

    • Sam_Austin

I left Jump 1(upgrade 2x year) for JOD and am now regretting it. I wonder what the cheapest phone is that you can get on JOD. That’s how I would get out of JOD.

      • Corey Jalette

If you want out of JOD, just jump to a new phone and return it. Just pay restocking fee.

        • Corey Jalette

This is the trick I used to get into jump on demand from jump 1. Works the other way around too.

        • Sam_Austin

Yeah, you’re right, though I got away with not paying the restocking fee when switching from Jump 1 to JOD last year by ordering and returning through Customer Care. The store would have charged the restocking fee, so I asked the manager if I could do it through Customer Care to avoid the restocking fee. He got bent out of shape and called me Scammy Sammy. Nasty, effeminate guy. LOL! I was able to cancel Jump and add JOD, but it helped that I had a backup phone to use while the shipping took place.

        • J.J.

Hmm. You remember how much that is

        • Corey Jalette

Like sam Austin said, if you have a spare phone you can do it with customer care k line and have no restocking fee. But if I recall it’s in the 50$ range.

        • J.J.

          Thx.

      • J.J.

I asked on live chat and they said only to Superior phone but not sure if i believe them

  • Sean-Paul Reyes

I don’t currently have JOD but I signed up last night and preordered the galaxy s8 plus in black. 130$ down 30$ a month. When I tried to get a regular S8 they told me it was 60$ down 29 a month. Can anyone tell me why it wasn’t 0$ down? I am always considered a well qualified buyer for TMobile. So I’m not understanding

    • J.J.

Because every time you call you can potentially get a different answer from multiple different reps. Because TMobile call rep training is the best.

      • Sean-Paul Reyes

I thought it was weird. I said it’s supposed to be 0$ and 33$ a month , he said it’s probably cause your credit you have to put down 60$ deposit and 29$ a month I said if I want the gs8 + I’m paying the “excellent” credit price made no sense to me …If I was gonna have to pay a deposit might as well went for gs8+ which I did. Thanks for your response!

    • Khuram Shahzad

Because the plus costs a lot more T-Mobile doesn’t want a higher monthly installment has to stay at $30 the regular 8 is 0 down on Jod

      • Sean-Paul Reyes

When I called last night they said that it was 60$ down 29$ a month for JOD on the regular S8 that’s why I figured I just will get the plus

        • Khuram Shahzad

To be safe bro go into a retail store to make sure the other is processed correct . Everyone’s down payment goes based on their credit class some people may have a less down payment then others even on Jod and Finance

        • Nakrohtap

They factor your credit into this as well sometimes.

        • Sean-Paul Reyes

I understand that part, if that was the case why would I get the galaxy s8 plus for 130$ down and 30$ a month like everyone else ? And when I bought my wife’s iPhone 7 plus on EIP they gave me well qualified payment plan that’s why I’m confused doesn’t matter I got the s8 plus on pre order can’t wait!

  • Sam_Austin

This down payment on the S8 Plus for JOD customers violated what they are advertising for the program: “With JUMP! On Demand, the cost of your new smartphone includes the freedom to swap it for a new one whenever you want, up to 3x per year, no extra charge!”
    https://explore.t-mobile.com/phone-upgrades#

Tmo backtracked on the down payment for a previous Galaxy release and ended up refunding the down payments to JOD customers who had paid them. I hope they do this. Otherwise they are making JOD useless to me and now I am stuck in the program.
I just got off the phone after being transferred 3 times to try to resolve this. The “Upgrade specialist” I spoke to said the reason I had to pay the down payment on the Plus was that I had reached the dollar limit on my upgrades because I just recently upgraded to the LG V20, which is an expensive phone. Well, I’ve had it for 5 or 6 months and, if you don’t count the recalled Note 7, I had not upgraded since the S7 months before that.

    • Arbi

I agree with you that we shouldn’t put any down payment for JoD but unfortunately it does NOT violate their term of service and advertisement:

“Zero upfront—switch to a new phone whenever you want, up to 3x a year, and pay nothing up front for base model of devices”
As you see it says the Zero upfront is on “Base model”, and S8+ is not the base model. The regular S8 is the base model which is 0$ down payment.

      • Sam_Austin

Their own interpretation has been that all phones are by default the base model, but if to you opt for a higher GB version of that model (if available) it is no longer base.

        • Corey Jalette

While that is true, they recorded their JOD page to say “most base model phones” for 0$ down. Most being the key word. Tmobile has become tricky about it. But it’s still worth the program itself since it’s free.

        • Nakrohtap

If you stick to the zero down phones, it might be worth it. However, don’t plan on that sticking around. They were saying “base” models, but are now saying the S8+ is just “more expensive”. If you noticed, they started including a lot of phones now. The plan was originally setup for people wanting to upgrade with zero down to the latest cutting edge technology. I think we may be seeing the end of zero down for any high end phone. The Note8 will be the only version of this phone they offer, but they will have a down payment required. Mark my words.

      • Nakrohtap

They CHANGED the terms. It says that now. The “base” model has its own loose interpretation. They used the iPhone 6s 16GB as an example. Isn’t the iPhone 6 the base model and the iPhone 6s the upgraded one? By their definition of the S8 it should be. Charge the extra $5 a month already. They’re irritating a lot of their customers for no reason. This could easily be avoided.

  • Sam_Austin

The last rep I spoke to, BTW, said that since I did not want to pay a down payment for the Plus on JOD, that I should wait until after release, as they will have a promotion similar to the iPhone 7, where they will have the S8 Plus free/no down payment, even for existing lines. I’ll believe it when I see it.

  • christian reyes

I went ahead and pre-ordered it at 3 in the morning $0 down for 2 of them on JOD midnight black cant wait!!

  • pbolton70

IMO since they no longer offer new JOD purchases (only the people that have a current JOD can keep jumping) I think they are slowing poisoning the pot to get people to move away from it to a EIP or regular jump. Also IMO TMO has jumped the shark with this jerk move with S8+ and down payment with JOD.

    • Sean-Paul Reyes

I signed up for anew jump on demand last night…

      • pbolton70

So you added a new line and got JOD? I was talking about a new JOD agreement. Not jumping to a new device which would require a new JOD agreement? I am asking bc long story short back in 12/2016 my biz had a ipad JOD and broke the screen (had 3rd party insurance who paid me out) I paid that JOD off (lease payments left+buy out). They said that since I completed that JOD contract it ended and they were not starting new JOD contracts because they no longer offer new JOD contracts. You have to be jumping on demand. But you could EIP or do regular jump.

    • Corey Jalette

Yeah, that’s not true. Jump on demand is still available, just the first knee had to be done online. The rest can be done in store. I talked my way out of my last JOD to get the lg v20 at the 360 price so I’d have a backup phone down the road if needed. Just signed up again for JOD this morning for the s8+.

      • pbolton70

Really so you weren’t jumping to another device on that line. I just talked to the corp. response team and they still say they don’t offer new JOD only jumping devices on a line. BUt my point still holds true though they are making it less inviting to stay on JOD. Besides the 3x times a year I also liked no down payment. I never have liked the part though that say you pay to upgrade to larger storage like 128GB and you goto jump and have to pay again to upgrade from base size.

    • Nakrohtap

Sorry to say, they are starting to head in the same direction as Verizon in regards to this. Verizon used to have good upgrade plans. Then, they basically turned into installment plans. Part of the reason I went to T-Mobile was because of JOD. So, they can seemingly just change the terms at will it seems. Very irritated with this whole bait and switch thing at the moment.

  • el_perezo

Just finish holding one at a Best Buy. I dont get it. I mean its a beautiful phone but it feels like I’m holding a matte black Iphone 7 plus. At least LG had the balls to change it up.

    • steadymobb

In which ways did LG change it up

  • Ron Kinsey

I wonder if the t mobile stores have them on display?

    • mreveryphone

Was in there today and asked, they don’t… But they are supposed to have a big Samsung meeting on Sunday…

      • Corey Jalette

I guess some stores already do have it though. They keep the phone in back so they can use the phone before it’s launched. Sometimes you can talk them into letting you play with it. Especially if you know someone that works there. We got close to our tmobile rep and always talk with her. She let us try the note 7 before it came out. I was like a little kid when I got to do that. Lol best buy is supposed to have them in alot of stores across the US today (Friday) so if your tmobile store says they don’t have it try your best buy if you have one.

        • mreveryphone

Yeah… I went to my usual store that let’s me see things early but they didn’t have it.. I’ll be heading to best buy this weekend to check them out…

    • Myl35

no but best buy will have them on display

  • Joel Unger

how do you order the premium bundle

    • LaShawnda Conner

Rep said after you get the phone, you order it through samsung promotions website.

    • Arbi

after you receive your device, you need to go to http://www.samsungpromotions.com and submit your IMEA and wireless mac number and a copy of your contract (receipt) (save your contract as pdf and attach).

  • Corey Jalette

Did anyone else receive a $25 credit on their account? I had credits applied last week and this morning it was the right price and this afternoon it went down $25 more. I guess it pays off being nice to the customer care team even in stressful situations. I’m not complaining. Lol

    • Sam_Austin

Are you talking about the price of the S8 or S8+? It went down and you got a credit on your account?

      • Corey Jalette

No, I only paid 139.10 total. 130 plus the taxes on the 130. my bill was 156, after I pre ordered my balance went down 25$ and I already had all my credits applied over a week ago for the next bill. Didn’t get charged the 20$ upgrade fee either.

        • Sam_Austin

I see. Well I had several Note 7 $25 credits applied in my last bill. I had 3 Note 7’s recalled, total, and with the Samsung $25 credits, T-Mobile credits and all the freebies (micro SD cards, Netflix, etc.) I made out pretty well. :-)

        • Corey Jalette

I had those credits applied last year though. Unless this was one that was left behind or something, lol. LET ME FEEL LUCKY DAMNIT ahahaha

  • mike

So I held the s8 at best buy and didn’t like it at all. Cancelled my preorder for that one and now I can’t order the plus because the system hasn’t updated. Both retail and customer service both fail at order confirmation. Frustrating as hell.

    • Sam_Austin

Prepare to make a big down payment. Are you on Jump on Demand?

      • mike

Since the s8 was pre ordered they cancelled the JOD and my lease so I could order the plus. I have to wait for the cancelled order to clear on their end before I can place a new JOD but no one knows when that will be.

        • Sam_Austin

Well if you want to order the S8+ on JOD, you’ll have to pay the $130 down payment plus tax on the 130 plus fees. It sucks.
Of course, if you no longer want JOD, and they’ve already canceled the lease on your previous lease, you could at this point get out of it.

  • Sam_Austin

Has anyone who is on Jump on Demand gotten out of paying the down payment on the s8+, or some other concession such as a bill credit?

    • Vizzy

Paid $220 with taxes and fees and the 130 down payment

      • Sam_Austin

Wow, that adds up! You just paid taxes on the $130, right? Why $90 in taxes and fees?

        • mark toma

no i have JOD and i only paid $130 dollars and $15 in taxes, if you get the regular s8 you dont pay anything

        • Vizzy

130 down payment, 50 in taxes and 20 fee for customer rep helping me make the order smh

        • Corey Jalette

You must have paid the taxes on the whole phone. Meaning you’re on regular jump or eip. Jumo on demand you only pay taxes on the 130 down payment.. Mine came out to 139.10. And they didn’t charge me the $20. I was actually credited on the account $25.

        • Matt Macaluso

You don’t pay the $20 on Jump! or JoD! Get that shit credited back!

      • Polish Announce Table

I paid $51 in taxes and fees on the S8 Plus with Jump!. Definitely taxes on the full item, as you are basically signing a loan.

        • Ron Kinsey

You didn’t have to pay the 130.00?

        • Polish Announce Table

          Yes. So $181.

  • S6andNote4isBoss

Pre-ordered my S8Plus mission accomplished. Now onto the Note8 in September.

    • skywalkr2

Considering how great the s8+ is… the Note8… I cannot understand what they can do to improve on it.

  • Corey Jalette

While this has everyone’s attention, just found this on mytmobile website

“T-Mobile One customers! Offer ends soon. Activate HD streaming and up to 10GB 4G LTE Tethering at no additional charge. Visit the Plans page, select Manage data add ons and get the T-Mobile ONE Plus Promo.”

  • J.J.

    S8+ 0 down on jod right?…..no!….ok bye!!

  • Ron Kinsey

I am on the original jump, but 130 dollars is steep for a phone upgrade. Never had to pay before other than taxes. Verizon has much better deals. I may check them out.

    • Lawrence C

You want a premium phone and don’t want to pay anything upfront Smh.. Verizon may have a better phone plan deal for you so go a head and try them out

    • Nakrohtap

If you have that option, go for it. It’s definitely not worth the extra money.

  • steadymobb

Has anyone cancelled/switched their preorder? I preordered the s8 because I thought the plus would be unwieldy but am having doubts. I kinda want the s8+ now -_-

    • Lawrence C

Everyone that i know order a regular and not + came to regret it after having the phone in their hands. I will never make that mistake. LOL

      • Jiovanni Rodriguez

Yes I’m glad I preordered the S8+ went to my local bestbuy and they have it on display and ‘OMFG’ the phone to me feels perfect in the hands compared to my bulky note 5 which was still a good form factor. And the “cough cough” iPhone 7 plus feels like holding a brick. You can’t go wrong with either their still a perfect form factor

      • steadymobb

I went to best buy to look
I’m sticking with the regular. 8plus is nice though, just a bit too big for me

        • skywalkr2

me too. the screen on the regular is huge and the same hand friendly size as the regular s7. S8+ is too big for my hands.

    • Corey Jalette

You can but you will be at the back of the line

      • steadymobb

I know that’s what I was thinking. I preordered right at 9PM on the 29th so I was probably near the front :( Oh well, I hope I won’t be disapointed with the regular.

        • Corey Jalette

You always have the option to send the phone back and swap it out if you do it within the 2 weeks, or 20 days since its an online order. Buyers remorse period. And online orders don’t have a restocking fee. So you’re good. And by that time hopefully the phones will be in store, so you could return it and go to the store to get the new one. Might be some delay though. So that’s what might suck. I’d just call and get the order cancelled and ordered again the phone you want.

      • Nakrohtap

There is no line. Some people who ordered at midnight when pre-orders went live will not get their phone before everyone else. In fact, some who order the weekend before street may get them before those people. This is the way it’s always been and people who ordered at midnight always complain they didn’t get tracking or delivery yet when others have.

  • WhippetNYC

S8+: is there a way to find out if this phone has a MicroSD card slot that uses UHS-I or UHS-II “bus”? I can’t seem to find this information anywhere.

UHS-I = single row of contacts (slower max speed); UHS-II = two rows of contacts (faster max speed)

    Thanks.

    • Brian Richards

I’ve been looking for the same info. In a perfect world it would be uhs 3 and the phone will natively allow adoptable storage :) But I’m not holding my breath.

      • WhippetNYC

@Brian Richards: thanks for your reply. Sigh…people are generally rather confused about UHS-I/UHS-II (Roman Numerals) versus UHS1/UHS2/UHS3 (the “U” with the arabic number in the center). They often conflate these and it all becomes mumble jumble techno confusion.

To further confuse this situation, there is talk by at least one source that says that the newest type of card “UFS 2.1” is accepted by the S8/S8+!! However, the UFS 2.1 card was announced last summer to great fanfare by Samsung and still not yet available. It is an entirely new card format and not at all compatible with MicroSD. I wonder how that one single MicroSD slot can accommodate BOTH UFS2.1 as well as MicroSD? Unless, of course, that this source is wrong:

“…On the Galaxy S8, the entire procedure will likely be faster, both because of the new 10 nm Exynos/Snapdragon processors and the UFS 2.1 storage on the S8 and S8+.”

        Source: https://www.sammobile.com/2017/03/29/heres-how-the-galaxy-s8-will-take-better-photos-despite-the-same-12-mp-camera-as-the-s7s/

  • Brian Richards

Is T-Mobile supposed to have charged me by now? I pre-ordered two S8+ on launch night and have yet to be charged. The orders are in the system though.

    • Lawrence C

You will be charged when the phone is shipped. Until then please make sure you have sufficient funds in your account otherwise your order will be cancelled

      • Brian Richards

        Thanks. That’s good info.

    • steadymobb

They charge officially 2 days before ship. The rep told me most likely get charged on the 16th according to her memo

  • Lawrence C

Seriously people…The Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus is not a base model phone. If they had made S8 Plus in different variations of memory then one could argue that out. Currently, the S8 is the base model so if you want the Plus, cough out the down payment or stay in your lane. Just my 2$

    • Matt Macaluso

I disagree… It is a base model. The smallest sized iPhone 7 Plus is considered the base model in its lineup.

    • John Kim

Seriously? You obviously have not been a JOD customer. The down payment applied when you were deciding between the “base” or the “upgraded” version within the same model, such as the 32GB or the 64GB version of S6 or S7 (or iPhone 6, 6s or 7… you get the point). The S8 and S8Plus are two different models. For example, when the S6, S6 Edge and S6 Edge Plus were first made available on JOD, you could choose any 32GB “base” version among them with $0. Same thing with S7 and S7 Edge – both were available on JOD with $0. TMob is obviously realizing that JOD is a money loser for them, and they are trying their best to cut their losses by getting rid of the best features of the JOD program.

      • Matt Macaluso

        Agreed!!

      • J.J.

        Amen

      • skywalkr2

this is all true… Obviously true because they won’t allow any new customers on JOD.

        • Corey Jalette

You can Def get it as a new customer. I just started one for the s8+. Got off JOD a couple months ago to get the lg v20 on sale to have a backup phone just incase. And I’ve seen multiple new customers signing up for it online as well. You just can’t stsrt them in store anymore.

        • skywalkr2

hmmm. I only do things in the store, so I guess that is why.

        • Nakrohtap

Oh, I’m sure you can get on JOD because the new JOD sucks. As long as they get their down payment now, they are probably not losing money any more.

      • Nakrohtap

Why are so many people complacent about coughing up the $130 and not bothered by the change in terms? If you are on the JUMP! program, the down payment goes toward your balance. If you are on JOD and plan to upgrade 2-3 times per year (as the plan was intended), you are losing tons of money. Of course JOD was a losing prospect for them. However, they got new subscribers out of it and now that they have them, they are changing the terms. Very carrier-like.

    • J.J.

They are 2 completely different phones

      • Corey Jalette

The only difference is the size of the screen and battery. Everything else is exactly the same thing.

With the iPhone 7 /7+ the plus version had a camera upgrade along with the screen and battery bump.

  • Matt Macaluso

I called to use JoD and they couldn’t even process it since the G6 isn’t “out” yet. I am also pretty pissed that they are charging a down-payment, as I see others here are as well, and anticipate that changing in the next week or so.

    • Corey Jalette

You Def can get the phone pre-ordered with JOD. Call back, talk to a rep on twitter, or go in the store (if you have JOD already). I signed up for my first JOD with the pre-order for the s8+.

      • Matt Macaluso

The issue is the system sees I am on the G6 which isn’t out until next week. It wont process the JoD…

        • Corey Jalette

Ah, that sucks. Atleast your phone is still really new. You can hold off a little longer lol

        • Matt Macaluso

They were like how do you even have this yet? I am like are you guys idiots??

  • Arbi

    I have question regarding JoD:
we paid a $130 down toward the S8+ with $30 payments.
what’s gonna happen to the down payment after 6 months if I wanna switch to Note 8? imagine if they don’t return the down payments and as they collect anther down payment toward Note 8 after 6 months, so what’s the point of leasing the phones from Tmobile?
Let me show you a simple math:
The lease total for S8+ is: $728.16
if you divide $728.16 to 18 months = $40.48 monthly
after 6 months if we upgrade to Note 8 we suppose to pay $40.48 x 6months= $242.90 and switch.

But, we paid $141.38 down payment + $195.78 (32.63×6) = $337.72 to switch by current plan!!!!
it means we have to pay $94.82 extra after 6 months to jump to Note 8!!!! I even didn’t count the down payment they may require for the new Note 8!!!

    • Matt Macaluso

I didn’t check your math… But I assume you are correct, and yes, it’s bullshit. Defeats the purpose of what JoD is.

    • Corey Jalette

The down payment is pretty much a payment towards the phone so that the lease amount monthly goes down. It’s 30$ plus taxes monthly btw. So about $32-$33ish. And your math is off its an 18 month lease plan with a payout option. It’s pretty much the same as the 24 month plan they just lump the last 6 payments into the end of the 18 month lease payment. And yes the down payment sucks. If it sucks really bad that’s why the regular s8 is there. The note will be out soon enough but I opted for the bigger screen even costing more money. The note 7 should be a base model so here to hoping it’s $0 down. We shall see.

      • Nakrohtap

If you notice, they are slowly changing the language on the JOD terms. It WAS base models. Now, the excuse is that the S8+ is more expensive. Don’t for a second think the Note8 won’t have a deposit required. They must think they have stupid customers. However, most don’t complain and just take what they are given because they know was a major pain it is to change carriers. The uncarrier has become just another carrier sucking money out of your wallet. If you keep the S8+ (optimistically thinking) until September when the Note8 is launched, that’s 5 payments of $30 + $130 down. Over 5 months, that’s $56 per month as opposed to $35 if they required zero down, like the plan promised when it came out. How can someone NOT complain about getting charged that much more for a rental device? John Legere has become his competition and once they increased their subscriber base, they fell in line with all of the other carrier tricks.

    • CR7 SUCKS

WOWWW JUST WOWWWWW REALLY!!?? SERIOUSLY?!!! lets do the calculation my way, lets compare the phones leasing to the cars leasing, yes for sure you can get $0 Down payment for Ford Fiesta and any other American JUNK! car specially FORD GT $200,000 overpriced crap car and if you ask me that car worth is no more than $20.000 and even if go to Ford Junkyard aka dealership even the sales manager will include His daughter and wife to that deal for you to get that overpriced Ford GT crap car, and im comparing FORD GT aka Fiesta value to Alcatel or ZTE or even iphone (I hate that phone) and you can get those phones from T-Mobile with $0 down , BUT now lets say if you go to real car Dealership like BMW or MBZ and if you want lease a car with $0 down or even if you want to buy that OLD Car Poster on their restroom wall their janitor will kick you out of the dealership because those cars value are like New Galaxy S8+ and they are high end phone and im Not going to make an example if you go to Porsche Dealership and ask them $0 Down for any Lease option what would happen to you but im pretty sure they will call S.W.A.T on you or even on worst scenario they will shoot you on sight because you are just wasting their times, so get used to it and if Verizon and At&t giving their phone with $0 down I promise you that They are getting those down payments some other way and if you check their customers when they are leaving their retail store after they renew or even sign-up new contract you will see there is Huge Bamboo stick up in their ass , and they will pay more on their plans and hidden fees, So be happy $130 is not bad and its not worth it to try that Bamboo stick.

      • Matt Macaluso

This example would assume people get new cars ever 3-5 months. That’s the point of JoD… To be able to get the latest and greatest. Not keep it for the length of a fucking vehicle lease…

      • J.J.

I think the issue is the program was started stating 0 down with 3 times a year which is very appealing to some. But now they changed it saying “most” are 0 down after the fact. And yes it is unfortunate to pay 130 down then 6mo later try to switch to another premium phone where they ask for more. The 130 just went down the drain. 33 per month for a year($396) is decent to have experience 3 new phones but at this rate if all 3 cost 130 up front it defeats the reason we signed up

  • JTrip

I have a silly question from someone that is not a smart phone guru. I have a Nexus 5 2013 with a micro sim. I just pre ordered the new Samsung. It says that it will ship with a new sim and I can activate it through the Samsung site. Is it that simple? Do I just follow the instructions when it arrives and the new sim activates and the old one deactivates or do I need to contact tmobile and let them know that I have a new phone with a sim that needs to be activated? Thanks for your replies.

    • J.J.

I would call TMobile and activate new sim when it arrives just to be safe then the old will deactivate

  • Chris

I like the rest of you was extremely upset about the down payment with JOD. I called customer service more than 5 times hoping to get someone to waive it. No help at all. I finally decided to complain via Twitter and it worked. I had to make the down payment but they credited my bill for the full amount. Good luck to anyone who has still yet to order!

    • Sammaad Shams

So you will be paying $30 a month or more?

      • Corey Jalette

If they got a bill credit, it’s a bill credit. Meaning they will be paying the 30$ plus tax because they did the 130 down. They just got really lucky and got $130 credited on the account to go towards the next bill.

        • Sammaad Shams

          Good deal :).

    • NardVa

T-Mobile advises you it’s $130 down for the S8+ with JOD which you agree to. Then you call T-Mobile to complain because you don’t think the agreement is fair. If you don’t like the agreement, don’t get the phone.

      • Chris

I didn’t agree to anything until they offered the bill credit. I just threatened to switch to Verizon who is offering it for 0 down. In fact all other carriers are. I offered to pay a higher monthly fee but they came with the bill credit. Not complaining.

    • Matt Macaluso

      I got shut down again.

  • Bryck

Are the phones coming with standard headphones (not the wireless)?
Just curiosity, I can’t seem to get a forward answer.

    • Matt Macaluso

Not on T-Mobile… They are charging extra for the headphones that were coming free.

      • Bryck

That’s what I thought. I don’t really care about the VR headset, I wish they would’ve give us an option between either or. Thanks.

        • Matt Macaluso

Bad news, after bad news, on this launch.

        • Bryck

I’ve just return my G6 today, I was disappointed with it. Gorgeous screen, but everything else was just average. So I decided to pre-order the Galaxy S8 and hope for the best.

        • Denis

he doesn’t know what he is talking about. AKG earbuds are included with the phone. AKG over the ear headphones are part of the $99 deal.

        • Bryck

That’s great news thanks. The article wasn’t to clear about it.

        • Matt Macaluso

Get the Gear VR with Controller and Oculus Bonus Content—FREE, when you pre-order. Plus, add premium headphones by AKG and a 256GB memory card for just $99.

Not very clear on T-Mobile’s FoS… Premium headphones sounded like just the wired AKGs.

          Good to know!

        • argenys

the additional are over ear and wireless, the first wording isn’t clear but the picture is and the other mentions of the offer and also the fact that it’s an offer available to all carriers and buying it directly from samsung

        • Matt Macaluso

I see that now at the bottom…

        • argenys

          finally someone paid attention

      • argenys

you are mistaken. the phone comes with akg headphones. the offer is for an additional set that are wireless.

    • argenys

no version comes with wireless headphones its an additional set that is an offer. all versions comes with akg headphones valued at $99

  • argenys

no one is keeping a phone for more than 5 or 6 months….

  • argenys

just went to a t-mobile store to look/hold the phones… wow. I think I am now getting the s8+ way smaller than i thought

    • Corey Jalette

Went yeaterday to check them out they Def seamed smaller than I had in mind but still a huge screen. Can’t wait for it to get in already. Lol

    • skywalkr2

I had the exact opposite reaction.

  • argenys

anyone know the official model of the wireless akg headphones?

    • argenys

      Y50BT?

      • Corey Jalette

Not sure the official model but they look pretty nice. There are a couple unboxing videos online already.

    • skywalkr2

That really is a $120 set of headphones… and the microsd is worth a lot also. Good deal for $99.

  • Corey Jalette

Patiently waiting for someone to comment saying that they got their tracking number. I mean impatiently waiting, of course lol.

    • Debra Spicher

Yeah I’m curious if it’ll ship out as fast as the G6 did :) Enjoying mine

      • Corey Jalette

I am hoping so! Last few samsung phones have been early. Hopefully this week coming up we get movement!

        • Mike

the Note 7 didn’t ship to launch date and tons of orders got back ordered.

        • Corey Jalette

No, there were people getting it atleast a week early. Atleast people who ordered on the preorder night. And that was 1 phone. Other than that, the phones have been released 1-2 weeks early.

        • Mike

I ordered the Note 7 so I know for a fact the Note 7 didn’t ship out to launch date. Plus their was plenty people on tmonews saying that their order was back ordered .

        • Corey Jalette

I also ordered the note 7 as well. But not on launch day. I was on top of when people got their and even went back today to double check. It wasn’t a week it was few days before the launch date. My bad, still early. And that was the note. The s7 came out really early.

    • mreveryphone

Tracking info updated! I ordered the second it went live! Should be here tomorrow!

      • Corey Jalette

Seriously? Or do we have a prankster here. Lol

        • mreveryphone

Just a prankster lol… Thought I’d get a little late April fools joke in to lighten the tense “checking to see it it has shipped” mood… I definitely can’t wait much longer though!

        • Corey Jalette

Already ordered a case last night. Lol

        • mreveryphone

          Me too! lol

      • Sean-Paul Reyes

Hope you know April fool’s was yesterday…

        • mreveryphone

Hope you can take life a little less serious sometimes…

    • Corey Jalette

Just so everyone is aware, you can try “track by reference” on UPS site to check if they have any info as well. Fill out the section and in reference number spot put your phone number of the phone upgrading. I’m not sure if it needs to be with the 1 in front of it or not. Try both ways. It is still early. But for people who want to check on it daily its another option.

      • mreveryphone

That’s some next level “checking to see if it’s shipped” stuff… I’m just going to let it happen naturally… lol

  • Jess

I finally got the text saying thank you for your order. I about flipped when I first saw it. I thought it was going to say it was shipped! Lol. Either way I saw it as a good thing.

  • Ron Kinsey

Went to t mobile today and had both phones on display. Not sure which one i like the best. This will be the first time i will have to pay a down payment. And I have had all high end phones.

    • Matt Macaluso

      Complain about it. It’s BS.

  • mreveryphone

It’s all good… Just giving you the business lol

  • Botiemaster

$30 down payment? May as well not do a down payment at all LOL. Kind of defeats the purpose of down payments.

    • Matt Macaluso

      $130.

      • Corey Jalette

Not everyone is on jump on demand, or getting the plus. Lol.

        • DKBNYC

I’m getting the plus but I’ll wait a until April 17th to order. IF they do as they did with the Note 7, the down payment will be dropped. If not, I’ll use just wait until they have a sale or the Note 8 is announced.

        • skywalkr2

Yep I used JOD for regular S8. The S8+ I played with in store is just too darn big for my hands.

  • Polish Announce Table

I waited a day to pre-order the S8+ online. It was a very simple experience with no glitches.

    • skywalkr2

I pre-ordered 2 days after and no issues. QQ did you look at the S8+ in store? it is huge.

      • Polish Announce Table

Good. That is what I wanted.

      • Corey Jalette

It’s not that huge. Lol same size as the iPhone 7 plus, just not as wide.

        • skywalkr2

My hands couldn’t easily touch the fingerprint scanner on them. On the S8 it was perfect location.

        • Corey Jalette

Yeah that can be an issue for some people. I plan on just using the iris scanner so I wasn’t even thinking about it. Hopefully they can fix the technology to put it on the screen for the note 8 so it’s more convenient.

        • skywalkr2

If you have JOD that’s cool. If not, then that’s expensive! :P

  • Ron Kinsey

I am going to wait till they drop the down payment like they have in the past or bogo deal. Depends on how the pre orders do and if Samsung is happy with those numbers.

    • ECH

I never understand these BOGO deals. You basically have to open a new line, or have multiple lines on T-Mobile anyway, right. I have one line, so if not for the s8+, how can I take advantage of the BOGO’s? Ty

  • Petey07

I’m considering of getting the S8+, but its so hard to leave the iOS ecosystem (all iOS device connected, majority of family & friends are iPhone users, and etc). I do miss the Note 7 when I had it until the recall had me returning it back :(. I think the $130 down for the S8+ kind of hold me back because I know I’ll end up jumping again before the 2 years EIP is paid off. I can understand T-Mobile perspective, they have to make money somewhere some how Lol.

    • skywalkr2

do you already have the iphone 7 plus?

      • Petey07

Currently using it after I turned in the note 7. I leave Apple for android, a couple months later, I end up coming back to the iPhone. Lol

  • Andrew Singleton

Anyone get your pre-orders yet? or a shipping notification?

    • Corey Jalette

Not yet for me. Still estimated to ship the 20/21. Hopefully this week they start.

    • mreveryphone

      They’ll probably start next week…

  • skywalkr2

What??? The only people not keeping their phone is someone swapping up to Note when it comes out. There are many like me that keep the galaxy S models for the full year.

  • Chino

I don’t think t-mobile is budging seems like there sticking with the dates they given us!!! Smh.. Lets Hope for the best Lol!!!!

    • Corey Jalette

There’s still over 2 weeks left. Let’s keep hoping lol

    • mreveryphone

They’re getting our orders together now… Some are probably sitting in our cities hubs now just waiting on the go-ahead to ship to our doors…

      • Chino

How would you even know that ?lol smh!!

        • Corey Jalette

          He said probably. Lol

        • mreveryphone

I don’t… The only thing I’m sure of is they’re getting our orders together…

  • Mike Thaler

Not that it is important to most people – but if you go to the S8/+ accessories page on the Samsung site—-you will see a physical key pad that clips on to the bottom part of the phone wher the touch keyboard pops up. No cost is given.

    • b e

      ITS BETWEERN $50-$65

  • Colt

  • Chino

Apparently Samsung . Com Is Preparing for shipments they went from pre-ordered to preparing for shipments hopefully t-mobile updates theirs as well!!

    • Corey Jalette

Hopefully! Atleast we are starting to see some action starting.

  • Chino

Quick Question guys? would t-mobile still let new customers like myself that pre-ordered the galaxy s8 use the t-mobile one plus addon feature when the phone arrives?

    • Corey Jalette

What do you mean exactly? One plus features have nothing to do with specific phones.

      • Chino

ok what i am saying that t-mobile is ending there one plus add-on feature tomorrow and i was asking would they still honor that add-on feature although i still don’t have the phone yet? and the line is not active

        • Corey Jalette

I would call/msg @TMobileHelp on Twitter to make sure. Do you have a number or anything? Did they already sign you up for the promo plan when you signed up? Def msg them to make sure because they’ve been pretty strict with their promos lately.

        • Chino

Thnx Corey just got off the phone with T-Mobile they noted it on the account and they will retroactively honor the promo when I receive the device and activate the SIM they said since I made the order before the promo ended. that I am entitled to all of what the promo provides.

        • Corey Jalette

Where are you seeing the promo ending tomorrow btw?? It’s ending soon but I haven’t seen any dates as to when.

        • Chino

          BGR . Com reported it

    • javier

Yo chino look at next article below this one and in comments somebody posted that he got an inside and that they will start shipping tomorrow

  • Zero Gravity

i pre ordered it after successfully placing my preorder on the page it told me i would get called in the morning but no one calls? not even notification on my phone or email about it. is this normal?

    • Chino

Not really but at the end of your confirmation it says wait on a call or call right away if u would’ve called right away bammmm it wouldve been taken care of on the spot.

    • Corey Jalette

just call them or msg them on twitter @TMobileHelp You need the email to sign for the eip/jod/jump upgrade. So until that’s done it won’t be processed.

  • Chino

Damnn no T-Mobile movement yet I am starting to feel like the phone is getting old lol and I haven’t even had it or used it the struggle is real lol

  • K.

Went into Best Buy to take a closer look today… Almost wish I would have went with the s8 plus. Of course I had to ask the Samsung rep if the phones would possibly ship a little bit earlier than expected… Got the same answer of “most pre-orders should be in hand by 4/21.”

    • Chino

      Hey K. How are you?

      • K.

        I’m okay and you?

        • Chino

        • K.

Lol. Do it. Give it 2 minutes and then delete it.

  • javier

Yo look at the next article below this one and look at comments and somebody posted that he got an inside of their start shipping on the 9th to receive it early in the week

    • Corey Jalette

Yeah, I read that yesterday someone was told the 9th by a Samsung rep, but that’s a Sunday. Which is odd. And someone else was told by another rep that they were gonna be late. Lol so I’ll believe it once we actually see movement.

      • javier

Yea bro me too but remember people got their LG G6 already it’s in stores for sale too and that helps us lol

      • javier

Ebay selling unlocked s8 out of miami and delivered on april 15 smh tmobile need to step up bro

        • Corey Jalette

I thought the unlocked models don’t come out till next month?

        • javier

Just saying what i saw go look at it brother

  • Alex Velazquez

My beef with T Mobile is that they want a down payment on the pre-order, but At&t, Sprint and Verizon do not, as long as you have good credit, and it does not matter if you are a new or existing costumer. T Mobile only give good breaks to new costumers since thay want their buissness, but when it comes to their loyal costumers they gives 2 (fill in the blank).
T mobile claims the deposit requirement it comes from Samsung directly but it does not. I guess that after all the time I have been with T Mobile ( since 1998 when they were called Voicestream) is time for a divorce…..and now they treat me like this…bye T Mobile

    • R M

      It lowers your monthly cost

  • Linh Nguyën

Is there a way to preorder from T-Mobile without having to upgrade my plan? I don’t want to pay $25 for the sim starter kit…

    • taron19119

You don’t have to upgrade your plan and the phone comes with a new SIM card
