Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 receiving its Android 6.0 Marshmallow update

Galaxy Tab S2_Black_5

We learned way back in October 2015 that the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 would be updated to Android 6.0, but we haven’t heard much about the update since then. That’s changing today, and the news is good.

T-Mobile says that its Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is now being updated to Android 6.0.1, which will bump the device to software version T817TUVU2BPF1. T-Mo doesn’t have much of a changelog for the update, but because the Tab S2 is moving to Marshmallow, we know that the Tab S2 will be getting new features like Google Now on Tap and Doze battery optimizations.

The Tab S2’s update weighs in at a hefty 1022MB. It’s rolling out over the air, so it should just hit your device at some point in the near future. If you don’t feel like waiting to get your Marshmallow treat, though, you can also check for the update manually on the Tab S2 itself or by loading Samsung’s Smart Switch software onto your PC or Mac and hooking the Tab S2 up to your computer.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is a high-end Android tablet, so it’s good to see it receiving an update to Android 6.0, even if that update did take some time to finally arrive. If you’ve got a Tab S2, let us know when you update to Marshmallow!

    Installing now!

    • Me too. It’s going slow, even on my 100Mbs fiber connection. I sure hope it’s not encrypted, or this upgrade will take HOURS once down loaded.

What about the first Tab S ? Samsung have abandoned it! This is their culture.

Have this Tab as well….prefer the larger screen, but the 16GB was just not enough space and was always giving me not enough space issues during app updates. Got the S2 to get the 32GB……and because I’m sure that the Tab S wasn’t going to see any OS upgrades.

I have the non lte version tab s2 and I got the update a few weeks ago and I can definitely say the tab holds on to the charge a lot longer than it did before. Doze is really showing it abilities with the tab s2. Hopefully you guy’s with the lte version will see this improvement too!
