T-Mobile Mother’s Day offers continue with free LG tablet, half-off LG smartphone deals

lgg5handsontmo

Turns out that that sale on Android and iOS phones isn’t the only special that T-Mobile is running for Mother’s Day.

Starting Wednesday, May 4, T-Mobile customers that buy an LG G4, LG G5, or LG V10 can get a free LG G Pad F 8.0. To cover the cost of the tablet, T-Mobile will give you a prepaid MasterCard card. T-Mo also notes that whichever phone you choose, you’ll need an EIP to qualify for the free tablet. This offer isn’t valid in Connecticut, Rhode Island, or Miami-Dade.

That free tablet isn’t the only deal that LG G4, G5, or V10 buyers can get this week. T-Mobile says that it’ll also give you a rebate for half off a second LG G4, G5, or V10 when you add a new line. Both phones will need to be purchased on an EIP, and the rebate that you get will be equal to the full retail price of the cheaper phone.

These offers will be around for a limited time, so if they pique your interest, you may want to act quickly once they go live.

This whole rebate stuff is bad business. I know many people who never received their rebates… Not only that, how does a prepaid card give you your money back? To me, it doesn’t.

    • Ascertion

Can’t you apply the prepaid card onto your EIP balance?

      • dtam

prepaid card is pretty much a credit card so I don’t see why you can’t use it to pay your bill

        • keepitreal25

you can use it to pay your bill, some of the posters on here just say stuff i believe to rile other people up. mastercard is accepted almost everywhere including tmobile.

      • jonathan3579

I’m sure you could but it’s not the same as cash (or debit) that comes directly from your account which is really what I’m emphasizing. I can sometimes get my bank to take the balances of my prepaid cards and add them back to my account but that just depends on the rep.

        • VN

The previous idea of giving you credits each month was better, I think, but maybe hard to explain to customers.

This is from the smaller print: “Redemption
req’d, see store for details. Rebate provided as a Prepaid MasterCard®
Card. Card terms and conditions apply. Allow up to 8 weeks.”

        • riverhorse

Your only valid reason has got to be that you ONLY pay ALL bills n purchases with % / miles credit cards, ergo would cost you to…

You could buy something costing more than the card-the rest cash or other debit, and return it…handing back your second debit card / or requesting cash.
Ensure the first debit is not refunded to because: “it expired n u discarded /you’ve since closed it/don’t have it/was lost and bank replacement is on the way with a different number/is a gift card that does not accept returns or automatically expired when balance reached zero/etc.”

    • Adam

If you are a bean counter, the row you are talking about in a balance sheet will be labeled “breakage”. This is why companies use rebates.

    • S. Ali

Among many reasons it cuts down on fraud which is rampant in wireless.

      • jonathan3579

I don’t disagree with the rebate period but I do disagree with the method of “repayment”

    • Sarunga88

I am still waiting for my rebate 3 months later and about 10 phone calls to tmobile for them to fix it!!

  • Moe

I hear the same thing about these rebates -either not received or received months after the fact with frequent calls to CS. You would think if it’s a promo they’d be able to promptly get the rebate out. REtailers like gift cards as many cards go unused or small balances are left unused by the consumer. Small unused balances = big money for retailers.

    • riverhorse

      N/A here, it’s a Visa / MC.
All large seller POS auto drain whatever balance, you don’t even need to know it.

    • Jeremy Turnley

These are MasterCard gift cards. Worst case, you make an Amazon gift card for whatever small balance you have left – you can make them in any amount, so if you have $0.08 left on the card, you can use it on your next Amazon purchase.

    • keepitreal25

im so sick of hearing the i never got my rebate sob story 75 % of customers don’t do as they are supposed to when submitting rebate requests, especially the contract reimbursement and wait until their deadline is up to start crying wolf. no sympathy because it screws it up for the customers who actually followed instructions and didn’t get their money. people really piss me off why this idea that major companies can advertise rebates and somehow don’t plan on fulfilling them. makes no sense

  • VN

With two year contracts? No thank you. I was hoping for some good discount.

    • Adam

It is cheaper for T-Mobile to sell the phones outright than deal with an EIP. Their business strategy is to steer customers into products that have the greatest cost to T-Mobile. At first glance, this sounds like a money losing business plan, then you realize it is all about the contract.

      • VN

The greatest trick the Contract ever pulled was convincing the world it didn’t exist.

      • Andrew Singleton

There’s no contract. Not sure what you guys are talking about. No time requirements except perhaps that required to receive the rebate.

        • VN

To get the rebates you have to sign a 2 year con… I mean, an EIP agreement. :)
This is from the source: “Qual’g service, credit check, and EIP agreement on all devices req’d.”

        • Andrew Singleton

eip agreements are interest-free financing plans, not term contracts. pay it off as early as youd like. questions?

        • VN

Almost the same to the term contracts where you just had to pay the ETF almost as early as you’d like.

But it’s a good deal for those that know they have good service in their area and were thinking in adding a new line. I’m not sure about the service in my area, so it’s not good for me to do a big EIP. I was hoping for a discount in a single phone. I know, it’s a Mother’s Day special.

        • Andrew Singleton

an early termination fee is a fee for terminating the line of service early. It isn’t buying out a device. t-mobile also allows 0-down financing on premium audio accessories at 0% interest. it’s the best credit card you’ll ever have. you can’t turn that into a negative.

        • VN

If the service is good then it is a good deal, but if the service is bad or goes bad and you decide to cancel, you have to come up with the reaming balance at once.

    ” get a free LG G Pad F 8.0″

One of the worst tablets in all of creation. My 4-year-old iPad 3 runs rings around this thing. Don’t even bother getting one.

    • lbarllcodel

Because it a closed system that actually runs less background operations vs. Android. Do you expect a Mercedes out of Ford pricing? Even at 4 years old the msrp is 2x more and that’s before the discounts. haha. Don’t be so naive.

      • Fight for Freedom

Congrats… you just compared a Mercedes to a Pinto.

        Dumbass.

        • lbarllcodel

Fairly certain that was the point?

          I just… I don’t even know… :-l

        • Fight for Freedom

I – and most other people – would rather have the Mercedes.. not the pinto.. Look I’m sure there’s some decent Android tablets.. but the G Pad is NOT one of them.

        • lbarllcodel

Omfg… You’re just pointing out my original statement over and over. Stop trolling. (I’m giving you the benefit of the Doubt stating you’re trolling.)

If you buy a Pinto expect a Pinto.

The GPad is good for the price point… Period.

          Its… A… Cheap… Tablet….

Let me spell it out for you.

          C.h.e.a.p. T.a.b.l.e.t.

        • Fight for Freedom

Trolling? I’m the one who started the thread.. dolt!

Go find the tree that’s tirelessly working to make oxygen for you and apologize to it.. NOW! Seriously.. you couldn’t poor water out of a boot if the instructions were on the heel!

  • Adam

I’m in the market for an LG, because I like the microSD and removable battery. Looking at this deal, I will be shopping elsewhere. The LG retail market is very competitive. This is in sharp contrast from the iPhone market, where if a retailer ever runs a sale, that retailer can kiss their wholesale prices goodby.

  • avi

why not available in miami dade only county not available in in the whole country i could understand state wide like conn and RI but Dade?

    • Jeremy Turnley

They probably have laws around using the word “free” in promotions where you have to pay and they give you the money back later. They’re there to prevent fraud, but catch things like this too.

  • Windows Mobile Fan

Proof that this blog is no longer worth anything:

For Windows Mobile fans, Mocrosoft ran a deal all last week where you buy an unlocked lumia 950xl and get a free unlocked lumia 950. A savings of $549 plus tax. An absolutely fantastic deal that never got reported on. It’s times like these that I miss Cam and his time with tmonews.

    • keepitreal25

more like proof the majority of these readers would have skipped reading that ” article,” because they like EIP which at the time is provided by tmobile , not the windows store ! as in this deal gives you something for free for sales tax down, not 549.99 upfront :)

      • User

You can buy a car without a down payment, doesn’t mean you should. People have too much of an obsession with zero down.

        • keepitreal25

Very much agree with you , but that’s the evil of credit , being able to buy things you can’t really afford!

    • S. Ali

Why? The devices aren’t branded for T-Mobile and don’t have WiFi Calling. WP ecosystem is downright pathetic and MS web services are a joke. At best those 2 devices are better suited for AT&T.

  • Windows Mobile Fan

    *Microsoft rather

  • Sgo

The LG G5 is a great phone. I wish this deal was out before I purchase my G5. But then again I am not with T-Mobile.

  • GS

Are jump on demand customers eligible for this free tablet promotion?

    • Andrew Singleton

      No.

  • Fight for Freedom

I like how you keep trolling my post to make *yourself* feel better.

Back to my point: the G Pad is crap. End of discussion.

    • lbarllcodel

Nah. It’s pretty good for the price.

      • Fight for Freedom

It’s not good at any price. Now go play in traffic.

  • Fight for Freedom

“Oh, also to the moderator. If you would like to remove all of this users posts. You know. Just cuz…. ”

God not only a T-Mobile News Fanboy but an Android Apologist..

    Swell..

    • lbarllcodel

Truthfully – T-Mobile is pretty BA. Where can you get 2 new phones and 3 tablets, with unlimited everything. Unlimited Hulu, Netflix, Hbo, Rhapsody or Pandora streaming, through your device ORRR hotspot for under $200. Also I get 2 free vudu movie rentals monthly because I have unlimited data on the phones. Speaking of… I need to go do that right now. Have like $15 racked up already.l in rentals. May as well add another $6!

However. Go on about me being a T-Mobile fanboy. You’re right. They fixed the industry. Certainly fixed Att from going down the “2gb” limit road any longer. That was a real deal there!

  • lbarllcodel

I will say. The only disappointment I have with the Tablet is the lack of a light sensor. I had to set up another app that adjusts the logging on my head unit Gpad to time of day.. No big deal, but that was the only bad thing I can find on these devices.

Btw. I’m also getting one for my mom for moms day, when I jump my wife’s G4 to the G5 today…

    Because Jump…
