T-Mobile’s latest promo plan offers two lines with 6GB of high-speed data each for $80

tmobiletheuncarrier

One day after launching a promo family plan that includes four lines with 10GB of high-speed data each, T-Mobile is taking the wraps off of a two-line promo plan.

Starting tomorrow, April 8, T-Mobile will offer a plan with two lines of unlimited talk, text, and data along with 6GB of high-speed data for each line. The plan will cost $80 per month, and it’ll be available for a limited time.

Here’s what T-Mobile CEO John Legere had to say about the new promo plan:

“Families who want fewer lines deserve a better option and we’re giving them one! Don’t let Verizon trick you with their misleading ads. They lure you in with the promise of a ‘Large’ serving of data for $60, only to sneak in another $20 PER LINE in monthly access fees – to use the data you already own! At Verizon, $60 actually means $100 for 2 lines and 6 GB! Even worse, these guys charge you those access fee again and again, every single month. Don’t believe the BS; come to T-Mobile where we do data different!”

T-Mobile is also getting ready to kick off a deal on the LG K7 and Samsung Galaxy Core Prime. With it, any new or existing T-Mo customer can get the K7 or Galaxy Core Prime for $0 down, regardless of their credit. The LG K7 will be available to all for $0 down starting tomorrow, while the Galaxy Core Prime is “coming soon.”

Anyone know if existing customers can take advantage of this new plan without opening any new lines or taking out new phones?

    • Acdc1a

      Always

  • landale

So basically it’s similar to the current two lines with 10GB for the price of 6GB except now it’s 6GB for two lines for the price of 2GB? Considering I pay $65 for line of 6GB now this is a pretty good deal to add a second line on the cheap. I just wonder if I can get it while keeping my business family discount as well.

    • Walt

Why not switch to metro and have truly unlimited data for $60 total

      • landale

Because I don’t need unlimited data however I do need international roaming.

        • Acdc1a

Same reason I can’t go to Metro.

  • Joe

Wish it went into more detail. Like if I have 3 lines, how much will that third line cost extra? Will it be $40 more or $10 like the current simple choice rates are?

    • Paul Sousa

I am wondering the same. I have the 4 lines/10gb each for $120 deal, which is a great deal, but I only use 3 of the lines. If I could add a third line to the 6gb promo for +$15 I would jump on it since I’d still have Binge On and would be saving some decent money.

      • Joe

Yeah I have the 2 GB simple choice plan for three lines. Paying $90 plan fee for them right now. Well around $75 with my work discount. If this new plan keeps it under $100 for three lines, I might be tempted to switch. As long as I get to keep my work discount of course. Tmobile is famous for cutting off the discounts for these “special” plans because they say it’s already discounted.

    • PHL

Probably not 10 dollars as their new simple voice plans are 15 for additional lines. However 15 dollar AALs would still be a pretty good deal for me. 110 for 4 lines with data stash and binge on would be perfect.

    • Fabian Cortez

$20 for the third line apparently.

EDIT: Sorry, you’re the same user that posted about this above. This is a great deal though, especially when one considers Music Freedom and Binge On.

  • Andy

I know this is a Longshot but wondered if anyone on here I could help me. Had a business account with T-Mobile with another friend and coverage was horrible and T-Mobile made us an offer that they would buy back the phones and let us out. I was dealing with Office of the President in Albuquerque which was above regular customer service and Tech 2. We sent the phone’s back they confirmed received and zeroed out the account and closed it. three months later we are being taken to court stating that we never sent the phone’s back and that we owe for the phones everyone that we have spoken to will not return our calls cannot get any response from Office of the President either where do I go? Thanks

    • Bradley Karas

They never buy back phones EVER!

    • Jon Freier

Please send me an e-mail with details and I’ll have my team look into it immediately. jon.freier@t-mobile.com

      • Andy

I received a call from the executive office today and they took care of it. I had lost the extension # so I mailed a certified letter 2 weeks ago. Just got around to calling me today. Thanks for your offer. Appreciate it

  • NardVa

With Verizon they want to pay more and share the 6GB between two lines…WTF. T-Mobile does a better job providing more data a lower price point.

  • The reason I don’t think this is a good plan, is because each additional line cost $20. That’s too close to other promo plans, and you get less data with this one.

    • PHL

The press release doesn’t say what additional lines cost. Did you call TMO?

      • I asked them on twitter, and they told me.

    • Paul Sousa

If you need 4 lines I’d agree, but only needing 3 lines that would still be $100/mo vs the $120/mo I pay for the 10gb promo. And between Music Unlimited and Binge On I never come close to hitting my data limit, so the loss of data wouldn’t be an issue.

  • Joe

Used chat on the tmobile website to find out what an extra line would cost on this plan.

“Thank you for waiting. Starting tomorrow Joe, we will launch our best 2 line plan ever which is simple choice family plan for $80 with 6GB of data for the first 2 lines. 3rd line will only costs $20 with the same unlimited service”

So it looks like extra lines cost $20 more. That’s a discount over the current simple choice rates. Currently 2 lines on old simple choice for 6GB of data is $110. Three lines is $135. This plan two lines is $80 and three lines is $100.

I asked about keeping my work tmobile advantage discount and he/she didn’t know. He said to try again tomorrow and maybe they will have more info.

    • Joe

If I get to keep my discount, I’m switching over ASAP. If I can’t, then I guess this is another promo I’ll never use.

      • pezman726

But what if I want the 3rd line to be just the 2GB?

        • PHL

          I don’t think that’s an option

        • pezman726

lame. I wouldn’t mind the extra data for myself and my wife. But here’s the monthly usage history for the past few months on my 3rd line…
          58MB, 30MB, 50MB, and this month, 2 weeks into the cycle, a whopping 8.67MB!

          I think 2GB is plenty!

        • Joe

Pretty sure for plans, all phones on that plan have to keep the same data amounts. If you’re on simple choice 2 GB right now, you’re paying $90 for the plan for three phones. This promo you will be paying $100. You just need to figure out is an extra $10 worth having 4 GB more data on your phones knowing you’ll waste it on your third phone?

        • Paul Sousa

I think you could get different/lower data on an extra line. I know if you go on the site and start building a family plan you can specify the data per line.

        • Joe

Normally for these “special” plans, you can’t change the data amounts. Simple choice normal plans you can per line.

        • Paul Sousa

Right, the first two lines I’d think would be locked in, but adding a line in addition to the promo lines I would think you could specify the amount. I could be totally wrong though, just guessing.

        • Joe

Yeah I’m guessing also. Guess we will see tomorrow. Man I hope they honor my work discount. This would be so much better for me.

        • PHL

Would be nice. One of my lines is a feature phone that uses less than 1mb per month.

        • pezman726

seems they have added the ‘fine print’

“Minimum 2 lines required; max of 12 lines. 2 lines for $80/mo plus $20 add a line. “

      • MadJoe

You cannot receive the promo and the discount, I’ve tried in the past and it has never been allowed. I’d say I was surprised the rep you chatted with didn’t know that, but ever since T-Mo switched most of their CS reps to India, the only thing they seem to ever know is my SSN and personal info, never anything helpful about my account or plans, devices, etc..

        • Acdc1a

I’m on the 4 for $120 10GB plan and receive my discount.

        • MadJoe

I have that same plan and was told no.

        • Acdc1a

          From my bill:

          Plan

          Corporate Volume Discount ($14.40)

          SC FM UTT+10GB 4 lines Promo $120.00

        • MadJoe

I think I’ll have to call back, thanks for letting me know.

        • FormerEmployer

There’s nothing you can do about getting the discount, unfortunately.

The reason you’re not getting the discount is because you’re on the 10GB for 4 lines the very first time it was introduced, and that particular rate plan promo did not allow any AVD discounts on it. The newer one, the one Acdc1a was able to get (and the one that just recently grandfathered a few days ago), WAS eligible for that discount.

Even though the twos plans are essentially the same, the SOC codes (code that is attached to each plan) is entirely different. You needed to have done a rate plan migration in order for the discount to kick in. Now it’s too late.

You can always try to escalate it and have them review and change it. It’s possible but a PITA.

        • steveb944

I have the 4/$100/10GB during initial offering and I have the government/military discount. I just verified it again a week ago.

        • FormerEmployee

When did you sign on to this plan?

        • steveb944

During the 4 for $100 10GB promo. The 7th line had been only with 1GB, but one day the customer service rep offered to bump up their data to the others 2.5 GB at the same rate.

        • FormerEmployee

There were two times this offer was available. One was last year, and the second was the year. The one last year did not off the discount.

        • steveb944

Ah I see. That’s quite unfortunate. If that were the case I would’ve swapped to the prior 10GB each offer in order to get the discount, which would pretty much pay for itself due to Binge.

        • MadJoe

Bummer, but good to know before I start banging my head against the wall trying to deal with T-Mo CS again. I really have never been so frustrated with them in the 14 years I’ve been a customer than I have been lately. It isn’t enough to get me to switch to 1 of the other 3, certainly, but man I’m getting tired of speaking/chatting with foreigners who know almost nothing about T-Mo policy, but everything about my personal info.

        • FormerEmployee

If your account tenure is indeed 14 years (your account number starts on the low end from 1-9, etc), you might have some wiggle room to get the plan switched over to this grandfathered plan. The rep won’t be able to approve it, but a supervisor should be able to after review of the account. I would keep calling until you get someone from the states, especially the ones that sound like they’ve been with the company for a bit.

In any case you can always shoot an email to Legere and someone from his office should be able to help.

        • Golbez352

It will drop off just FYI

    • FormerEmployee

Tell the rep to do this:

Go on T-Community (the companies internal website for all the details surround plans like these)

Go to the page that describes the details of this plan

Look for a line that will say either one of two things
      :
      -Eligible for AVD discount program
-NOT Eligible for AVD discount program

      There’s your answer.

      • Joe

I tried again. told the guy in chat to go to that webpage. he said the page hasn’t been made yet so that’s why he has no information on the plan.

    • Golbez352

If it’s a promo plan you will not be able to keep the discount. I can confirm that, you might get it for a month or two, then it will stop till you change to a non promo plan.

  • Walt

Bring back 2 lines unlimited 4G LTE for $100. Game over!

    • Whiskers

That’s is what i’m on , and i’m not giving it up .

  • PHL

T-Mobile on Twitter confirmed $20 for each additional line. Still a pretty good deal, but not compelling enough for me to upgrade from my 4×2.5GB for $100 promo.

    • brybry

You get to add lines for 10 with this plan right ?

      • PHL

I can still add $10 lines to my existing plan. Not for the new plan, as far as I can tell.

    • S. Ali

You’d get the benefits of BingeOn like YouTube if that’s important.

      • PHL

True, but the only ones that use significant data on my account are my kids. They can live without unlimited video streaming. Not gonna spend an extra $20/month so that can waste more time.

  • KChristainsen

So am i understanding this right, this is the same price and features of the 2 line simple choice plan but instead of 1G each its 6G each?

  • Giro

This a great offer but since It look like I can’t keep my discount and probably will l lose my $5 dollar state plan on all my line what the point…what ever happen to the uncarrier move for existing customer…

    • Acdc1a

I ended up getting my discount back when I went from unlimited to 4 for $120.

      • keepitreal25

your right all the new promo plans have the monthly discounts if applicable!

        • Giro

I just try to updated my plan to one of the new ones just to see… yup right away Fam Stateside Intl T&T Promo $5 say removed so that translated into $30 dollar a month extra I guess I’m stuck with this plan

        • keepitreal25

yeah with it being grandfathered it isn’t supposed to be applicable to the plan but it is hit or miss, if it allows u to keep it we let it stay if we process on our end, website will always remove grandfathered features when changing to current plan.

    • keepitreal25

      gsa/msca discounts still apply .

  • Android_God

Oh dear God, now it’s an ad of a guy bursting a black head on his nose. Is TMO NEWS trying to scrape past the bottom of the barrel?

  • Paul Sousa

I just checked my account and I am getting a CVD on the 4 line/10gb promo. Now I am scared to switch in case I lose it lol.

    • steveb944

      CVD?
I have that plan, if we switch out we can’t get it back because it’s no longer offered.

      • Paul Sousa

Corporate Volume Discount. And I only use 3 of my 4 lines so this promo with one line added would save me some cash.

  • Android_God

How many friggin plans do they have now? It’s like John’s ADHD is rubbing off on the company. I guess, “confusing plans” is all the rage with John and Co.

    • gmo8492

Its not confusing if you just stick to one that suits your needs. Besides these are limited time promos for multiple lines. Single line plans stay the same.

  • guest

i have one line but can i add another phone under EIP or JOD without having to add a new line

    • Swiftb

Not sure about JOD but i have had 2 devices under EIP on one line, customer service said its based on your account but its possible.

    • Golbez352

Depends what you owe on the other eip. Some people are able to put another phone on one line.

    • steveb944

I’m sure you can only have one JOD device, but EIP may be possible to have multiple depending on your credit. You’re allowed to have tablets and accessories so a phone would be along the same lines.

  • Fabian

Not bad. I guess this is to counter Boost’s 2 lines for $60, each 10GB.

    • Acdc1a

You get so much more with T-Mobile with 6GB than you do at Boost with 10. That 2 lines for $60 though is quite aggressive.

  • pramarama

Wow, I’ll have to decide whether to keep my $100/2 lines unlimited, or switch to this. About the only time I come close to using 6GB of data is when I go out of town to visit my dad, where the internet quality is spotty. But with binge on, that covers 90% of the bandwidth we use while there. Combining 6GB with binge on, I think the $20/month savings is worth letting go of that unlimited plan.

    • Acdc1a

We got rid of our unlimited when they did the 4 lines for $120 promo with 10GB of data. There’s just no need for most people…we don’t even have a home internet connection and don’t come close to 10GB.

  • det_b

Does this promo work with the business family plans? Can I count my business provided line as line #1 and get a 2nd line with 6GB for $40/$30 a month?

  • Moe

I’m always wondering what people do with all that data. Hell we get free music, free movies and most of us are in wifi at work and home. I have 2.5gb and hardly use any of it. Somehow unlimited data and unlimited calling seem unnecessary with wifi being just about everywhere.

    • nutmac

Where I live, which is Silicon Valley, CA, Wi-Fi isn’t everywhere. And even if am in Wi-Fi hotspot zone, it’s often slow, connection is maxed out, requires me to click agree on stupid terms of agreement page, and it requires that I stay in the zone.

And 2.5GB plan is NOT eligible for free video streaming. You need a plan with 3GB or higher for that.

      • JaswinderSinghJammu

I agree I am at 30 GB for the month. I am disappointment in T Mobile’s band 12 availability or even any kind of timeline at all or updates. None

        • Clippers FANactic

Band 12 has been rolled out in my area for almost 2 months and it BLOWS! Can hardly get .5 mbps
I have to switch to WCDMA only to get 10+ mbps. The Band 4 was awesome in my area for the last 2 years. Now it’s ruined by Band 12. They keep saying “they’re doing upgrades for the next 72 hours” well it’s been 2 months. Zip code 93551 Palmdale, Ca

        • JaswinderSinghJammu

I didn’t know that they removed the band 4. I thought it was supposed to be added along with band 2 and 4. It there a way for you to force band 4 on your phone instead of band 12?

        • John Wentworth

It sounds like a problem with your device, if band 4 and band 12 are available it should prefer band 4 until you get indoors or somewhere where the band 4 signal is too weak. It may not be a physical defect
just radio software that needs to be improved to work better on T-mobile.

My Note5 connects to bands 4 and 12 at the same time carrier aggregated and I got my highest speed ever 85mbps while connected to band 12 and 4

        • Clippers FANactic

Unfortunately I wish that was true. I already got a replacement V10 and it still loves band 12. LOL

        • Fabian

That’s not true for me, I have a phone with B12 and it is slower than my other phone that only has B4 and B2. B12 phone has 4 signal bars and the other 3. The difference is Carrier Aggregation that my phone doesn’t have nor it is available in my area. And that’s why I don’t appreciate the Carrier Aggregation silence of T-Mobile, they talk about this new Binge On provider or that new Advanced Messaging service but no talk about what matters most to most people.

        • John Wentworth

probably depends on location and phone, theirs only a few band 12 sites in NJ and the ones I’ve seen/used had carrier aggregation.

I still wonder about the radio though, it seems to me that an optimized radio would prefer band 4 or band 2 on t-mobile until it gets too weak.

T-mobile branded phone vs unlocked might make a difference.
          Just spit balling, who knows.

        • Fabian

Both T-Mobile phones. I wish it was like you say, where B4 and B2 had preference over B12. Maybe B12 has preference because of it’s VoLTE and E911, I don’t know.

    • steveb944

If you’re a heavy mobile user you can definitely pass those 2.5GB easily, and we don’t get unlimited video with the 2.5 GB. I’m considering changing my plan due to the recent MLB promo.

  • jj201367

Facebook and uploading pictures will use data

  • Adam

I have not header anything from Legere about the deceptive handset price increases from AT&T & Verizon recently. These guys remind me of coming back from Las Vagas only to find an energy surcharge on my credit card bill, because turning on the lights was no included in the base hotel room price. Just in case it was not enough to pay full retail for your phone, they are now charging a upgrade fee in addition. Having service subsidize handsets is uncarrier, but having handsets subsidize service is carrier again.

  • Today was the day that I swapped from T-Mo to Project Fi. After receiving my new Nexus 5X and my wife’s, we parted ways from T-Mo after 16 years. From Voicestream to T-Mobile … Jamie Lee Curtis to John Legere … T-Mo didn’t have the phone I wanted and I was paying too much for what I used.

And then they just served Project Fi with a plan that blows them out of water.

I love T-Mobile. :) At least I’m still on their network and they told me they’ll wait for me to come back :)

    • Acdc1a

Unless you’re each using 1GB or less the math doesn’t work.

      • John Wentworth

Yea you have to be a super light user to save over metropcs or one of these promos. Data at $10/GB is just too much.

    • Mike

Unless your always around wifi Project Fi is worthless

    • S. Ali

You’d pay less on MetroPCS than Fi.

  • Johnnola504

Question, I have the 2 lines unlimited for $100. I don’t use but a few gigabytes of data a month. Does anyone know if I will lose my hotspot and rhapsody music streaming if I switched?

    • keepitreal25

you won’t lose the hotspot, the hotspot you use just will count towards your new 6 gb high speed limit, if your unlimited plan includes the special version/ad free rhapsody that would be lost… Hope that helps. . Still get music freedom tho!

      • MurF-A-Zoid

updated 04-16-16—–I was wrong there is music Freedom and Each line gets 7GB of 4G LTE data on our network per month for Mobile Hot Spot.

    • keepitreal25

you can add it back for 5.99 per line if you liked that much! the rhapsody premier/unradio

    • gmo8492

Just keep your current plan, T-Mobile no longer offers it and it’s the best deal ever for 2 unlimited data lines.

      • Fabian

Or give it to someone else. Lol

      • John Wentworth

I agree, I’m on 2 for $100. I switched from two unlimited lines on MetroPCS at just the right time for the extra perks of being on T-mobile proper.

Also you never know tomorrow you could discover an app you love that uses tons of bandwidth. For me being able to watch video at full quality (Binge on disabled) and not even thinking about how much data I’m using is worth $20

I think it comes with hotspot, but it uses your main 6 gb bucket of data.
, 2 for $100 gets 7GB on top of unlimited.

but you’ll lose rhapsody music streaming.

    • JiGSaW525

      Hotspot remains and at 6GB.

I switched to the new plan from the 2 lines unlimited as I don’t use more than 3-4GB

  • JaswinderSinghJammu

    FYI
If you have a small business, Nettalk is offering Connect service for $25 a month for 10 GB data for the first 7 months and then it is $40 per month. Pln includes calls and text to US, Canada,Mexico and PR. Unlimited music and video streaming, Wifi Calling and it runs on the TMO network.

  • Acdc1a

I’ve got a Nexus 6 and it holds band 4 for dear life. Only deep within buildings do I flip to 12…and it’s slow.

    • Clippers FANactic

Wow, that’s crazy. Guess the V10 loves Band 12. LOL

      • dtam

it’ll be fine once they deploy carrier aggregation. the V10 has the capability

        • Clippers FANactic

          Thanks!

    • Fabian

Are you sure it’s not Carrier Aggregated?

      • Acdc1a

        I’m absolutely uncertain…

  • JaswinderSinghJammu

If you have a Samsung device, dial *#2263# to see if you can remove band 12 as an option until TMO improves band 12 speeds

  • PHL

FWIW, where I live and work, TMO blows AT&T out of the water. My work phone is an AT&T phone, and I wish we would switch to T-Mobile.

    • Giro

yup I agree with you Phil I also have att for work and although i get reception in most places is just useless drop calls like no tomorrow and unusable data.

  • Joe

No clue yet about if work discounts follow this plan. Chatted again with a rep. They said their internal documents are not updated with that info so I have to wait. Hopefully my discount will apply because then I’ll switch plans.

    • steveb944

I don’t see why it wouldn’t. Keep in mind it’s government and military, I just verified mine a few weeks ago again.

      • Joe

I’m grandfathered in to a non-government/military discount. I was just recently verfied a couple weeks ago also.

    • Melvin

I have been told in the past military/government discount don’t apply to promo plan. This is a promo plan.

  • Joe

I recently traveled from Ohio to the coast of Georgia. The entire trip (except in the high mountain areas) I was getting 4G data. I know because I was streaming iheartradio the entire time. It would only cut out when I was climbing or going down a mountain. But even those areas Verizon and AT&T have issues.

    • Acdc1a

I can drive I-75 end to end streaming Pandora the entire way. It’s not only impressive, it’s proof of the commitment to the network that T-Mobile has.

  • matt

if you have AT&T and you have the same problem, they tell you to download ‘x marks the spot’ and live with it, or buy a 200 dollar fem2cell. t-mo gives away cellular booster equipment. they have always gave them away. when is the last time AT&T gave anyone a free 3g microcell ? 2007? I’m surprised AT&T doesnt charge you a fee for a wifi calling plan. now we have wifi calling , so its good that we no longer need fem2cells. if you hate t-mobile that much, and want to smear them, go to some AT&T news website and stay away from ours
your galaxy s3 is the worst phone in the world. go buy a real phone like an iPhone 6s that has 23 lte channels and not 3 like the s3 had.

did you know t-mobile will unlock your iPhone 6s / google nexus phone and allow you to make payments for 24 months if you hate their coverage? and you can take that phone to verizon and not have to trade it in?? i’d like to see AT&T offer to unlock your handset before it is even paid off. i would crap a gold brick if AT&T came out with a plan that unlocked your phone while you continued to make payments for 30 months. h=hahhahaaahaahhaa, but t-mobile does. and for that reason we have trolls like you that bash them

another thing tmovbile is doing that AT&T refuses or delays is software updates. all the samsung phones are getting updates a year before AT&T either comes out with an update or decides to give up . A FEE and FEE would rather sell you a phone then actually support your phone 13 months from now.

  • Fabian

If you play with the data plans you can see that 10GB and Unlimited plans have promo pricing starting with two lines, and you can mix plans if you want.

    • steveb944

Dang. I missed out then on the previous one. Only two of us wanted 10GB, the others were fine with 2.5GB. Oh well, live and learn

      • Fabian

I meant mixing between 10GB and Unlimited, and with this new promo maybe mixing with 6GB plans too, but I’m not sure. Someone should check the plan calculator.

        • Fabian

Unless that 10GB for 4, also started at two lines for even less.

  • Fabian

Where you using your S3 with T-Mobile?

  • If you hate them so much, why are you on a forum that’s all about them? Makes no sense at all…just go away if you are not with them anymore, or leave if you hate them so much.

    • Kenzie Killian

How else do you get them and others to hear you?
      A forum Mr intelligence

  • Nick Ramacciato

How much would it be to add other lines, though?

    • JiGSaW525

      $20 to add a line

  • Availablesomewhere

The first 2 lines are $80. You can add more lines for $20.00 per line per month.

  • Paul Sousa

I just called and switched over from the 4 line/10gb promo to the 2 line/6gb promo with a third line added. The agent confirmed I would keep my Corporate Volume Discount. Pretty pleased as I wasn’t using the fourth line I had so this will save me almost $20/mo and with my usage I won’t feel any impact.

    • nutmac

How did you signup for 4 line 10GB promo with only 3 lines in the first place?

      • Paul Sousa

I’ve had the SIM card for the fourth line sitting in my wallet this whole time. :)

        • nutmac

Smart. So you were paying $100 (probably $85 after corporate discount) for 2.5GB each.

And now you are paying the same with 6GB each, Mobile Without Borders, free BingeOn video streaming, and 20GB data stash.

        • Paul Sousa

It was actually 10gb/line, and it was $102 after discount. Now I’ll pay $85 for 6gb each. Outside of Binge On and Music Unlimited we don’t use much data so the drop in data doesn’t matter to me.

  • The Waz

confirmed, corporate volume discount still applies.

  • steveb944

Tempting but from the old 4/100/10GB, I somehow have 6 lines for $120, plus an additional line for $10. (7 for $130 2.5GB)

So I can’t justify 6 for $140 and then having the 7th person pay another $10 when she doesnt even use data. (7 for $160 6GB)

Plus I love having the option of that $10 add a line (which I hope is still available on my plan).

  • Melissa Cardenas

i love tmobile just came back from Mexico and was getting 30 to 45 mbps While Roaming on Telcel LTE with my tmobile Galaxy s6 edge on Mexico city. Was able to go on fb,twitter check email ,get driving directions at no charge at all. ! Try doing that with other companies u cant!

  • JiGSaW525

Switched my 2 for $100 unlimited deal to the $80 deal 6GB one. Rather save $$$ and don’t really use unlimited beyond 4GB. Now with Binge On this should help a reduce that even further. Also comes with a 6GB hotspot instead of 5GB.

    • John Wentworth

If you don’t use it, good for you, save the money. though they upgraded the tethering on 2 for $100 to 7 GB, not 5. So you actually lost some data in that bucket.

Myself with the price of unlimited for one line being $95, I’m sticking with my 2 for $100 promo
But then again my wife and I combined use between 30 and 40 GB a month :)
And with their comments about pivoting to not using unlimited as a promotion in the future, I don’t think we’re every going to see many more deals on unlimited if any.

      • JiGSaW525

Nope, actually I was on a 5GB hotspot. I had a promo provided to me to get my plan down to $90 for a year, then it went back. For some odd reason the hotspot remained at 5GB. So I will get 1GB for the kiddies :)

My big thing was at some point I will have to add a line and the old plan was $40 additional vs $20 now.

Everyone is different, I’ll save some. You need it at 30+ GB!

        • Kaulana1989

4 lines for 120 for 10GB per line

        • JiGSaW525

Sure, but by the time I need 4 lines it will be a while. For now, this is cheaper for my two lines.

    • MurF-A-Zoid

Comes with 7GB hot spot, maybe your in a different area. USA, CA…

  • Mr.S

It would be a sweet deal if they allowed 2nd and 3rd lines be $10 for 2GB. I have three users in the family now and another one is probably getting on in a year, so $20 per extra line is steep. I’d jump on it with 6+6+2 for $90 though.

    • Steven

I think you can, third line on has always been 10 bucks, for at least 2gb, 10 more for all line = gb. So ask, i think you’d get what you want

      • Mr.S

No, I called and asked. No go. The promo requires all additional lines to be at least 6GB for at least $20, so it is $100 for three lines and $120 for four.

        • keepitreal25

you right it’s definitely 20 , but the 10 dollar 2gb option would be cool as well ,

        • (J²)

You right, all promotions will allow you to change your data plan only if you are upgrading (at an additional charge) but not to downgrade (unless its to no data).

    • nutmac

Right, but at the same time, you are saving $20 for 1st and 2nd lines. So assuming you benefit from having 6GB on at least 2 lines, you are getting 3rd line for free. If you don’t, just stay at 2GB tier for everyone.

I am in a similar situation. There are 4 people in my household but 2 are young kids without phone (age 7 and 4). Assuming I am still on this promo plan, I am looking at $120 when both kids get a phone vs. $100 for cheapest plan. $20/month may not seem like a lot, but that’s still $240/year.

Anyway, having 6GB on every lines does open up additional possibilities, such as video chat between family.

      • JiGSaW525

My thoughts exactly. I have 2 lines now, might have to add 3 more. On my old plan it would be $40 additional each line because each needs to have unlimited (no mixing it up). Also, the new plan gets the ‘new’ features that i couldn’t get before (binge on, north america promo etc.)

  • Apple

Oh my… sound like somebody need to upgraded to iPhone!
    #StopBeingCheap
    #iPhone4EveryKing

  • Fabian

We really don’t know the future of Binge On for sure. Keep that in mind when you do your calculations.

    • JiGSaW525

Very true, but the same could be said about grandfathering in old plans. I rather save some cash now (switching from my 2 for $100 deal) and face that issue when it happens :)

I switched from the 3GB and 1GB plan to a 3/3GB plan to the unlimited for 2, to the 6/6GB plan now offered. If Binge On wasn’t in place I probably would have stayed. They also brought over my corporate discount and 2 tablets on the free-for-life promo from back in the day.

  • Ruskastud

I just switched, and they said I’d keep my Government Discount…

    • Joe

I just switched also. Confirmed it via web chat that I get to keep it. The new plan doesn’t take effect until the 21st though. Hopefully the BOGO Galaxy S7 debit card comes before then so I can pay off the second S7 on my account and then close the extra line.

  • Fabian

Ask them about Carrier Aggregation, if they don’t give you a favorable answer try to return or sell the V10 and get an Unlocked phone. Let us or TmoNews know about the CA answer, maybe we start the CA discussion that way.

    • Clippers FANactic

Can you please explain in layman’s terms what carrier aggregation is? So I know before I call Tmo. Thanks

      • Fabian

        T-Mobile has 3 LTE bands: Band 12 (aka 700mhz), Band 2, and Band 4. In short B12, B2 and B4.

Carrier Aggregation is when the network allows a capable device to use 2 or more bands simultaneously. For example in some places T-Mobile aggregates Band 12 with Band 2 (B12+B2), in others B12+B4.

That way when B12 is congested you’ll be using the uncongested band for your traffic. If both bands are uncongested you’ll get crazy fast speeds.

        • Clippers FANactic

          Thanks Fabian!

  • Chapimex

Dang, reading through the comments have disappointed me. I switched to this plan, but was told it was $80 for 2 lines (6GB data each) and then $10 for each additional lines by a T-Mobile Rep. I have 6 lines so I was quoted $120 total for the 6 lines. Everyone else here is saying its $20 for each additional line. Just great. I’m in for a surprise on my next bill unless I call and complain and ask to remain on my current plan.

    • Fabian

Check your T-Mobile app or My T-Mobile account.

    • MurF-A-Zoid

Hope you record that call or copy that chat down or there not going to honor that promo. Hope it ll works out for you.

      • Chapimex

I don’t have the recording or the chat (it was done via phone), but I do have the reps name and direct phone number. I’ll be giving her a buzz tomorrow and I’m sure we will have a nice little chat. From what I’m reading it’s DEFINITELY $20 for additional lines, not $10

  • Giro

I just spoke with repr…yes I can keep my discount if I move to new plan but will lose Family share state plan $5…I got three line that is $30 dollars extra ouch…

  • Joe

When Binge On started, they upped my data from 1 GB to 2 GB for free for joining it and I kept my discount. Not sure why you couldn’t keep yours. They did say if I ever dropped binge on, my data would go back to 1 GB. I’m on the simple choice north america 2 GB plan now with 4 lines. Coming out to $100 a month. Plan on dropping the 4th line whenever the BOGO debit card comes in the mail so I can pay off my second S7 in that BOGO offer. Then I would be at 3 lines at $90 if I stayed on my plan. This new plan will be 3 lines for $100. So an extra $10 for 4 GB more per line… and I keep my discount so it’s really only an extra $8.50 on my account. NO BRAINER for me lol.

Extra 4 GB plus actually using the Binge On free video service trumps the extra $8.50 a month. Because 2 GB plans don’t get free videos (still use data with binge on). For me this will feel like unlimited data. I barely capped with I was at 2 GB (only when traveling).

  • Loco Mole

Just switched but though my bill would remain the same. Got it done via business chat.

OLD: $80 for 2 lines of Small Biz Val plan. Each line was $24.99 1000 talk & UL text + $15 for 5GB data.

    PROS:
    – 1 more GB per line,
    – Unlimited talk (up from 1000 min, which was already more than enough),
    – North America coverage

    CONS:
    – None I can think of

Forgot to ask the rep about adding a 3rd line AFTER the promo period. Would that still be $20 – does anyone here know?

    • Richard Roma

      yes

  • MurF-A-Zoid

out the Corporate Discount doesn’t apply to that promo.

T-Mobile : As per checking here. Simple Choice plans are Eligible for Discounts

    • Joe

Actually all plans have music freedom including the 2 GB plans. I had it before I switched. It’s the Binge On that only 3 GB plans and higher have. 2/2.5 GB plans still use data.

      • MurF-A-Zoid

I found out all i need from the service rep yesterday. Music freedom and government discount does work on this new plan. Either way thank you for your input.

  • Third_Eye

For any one Grand fathered with the TMo International Plan (10$ on all lines in family plan available in Dec 2014 time frame), switching your current Simple Choice plan to the 6GB simple choice WILL REMOVE THE INTL rate FEATURE. Previously you were able to make changes to the SIMPLE CHOICE SECTION of the plan without impacting the FAMILY STATESIDE INTERNATIONAL SECTION (I have done it multiple times) both on-line and in store and via chat.

Now TMO basically has killed the independence and you can only “REPLACE”

After being burned by Store rep on certain plan features, I only go on Online Chat for any plan related changes. I chatted with one rep and specifically asked about
    a) CORPORATE DISCOUNT – Yes you can apply the corporate discount on the 6GB plan
    b) DATA STASH – Yes the new plan has Data Stash feature, but you will lose any data stash accumulated from the prior plan.
    c) INTL CALLING GRANDFATHERING – NO!!! Your current feature will be removed from your plan. So you have to pay the standard rate of 15$ per line for this feature.

What pisses me off is that I spend 45 mins chatting with a CSR rep and he incorrectly said that I will be able to GF the Intl Calling Plan. It makes me more mad that he said “Let me check” couple of times put me on “chat hold” and then said. “Good News! You can still keep your 10$ plan while making changes to the simple choice section of it to move from your 3GB to the new 6GB plan. You will lose the accumulated Data Stash from 3GB plan though. “. So I asked him to change the plan.

Thank God, I went and checked my “My Account” page in the next 30 mins and found the following.

    Shared
    Removed
Family Stateside International Talk with mobile
    Takes effect 04/19/2016 ($10.00)

Furious & shocked I went again to chat and found a different rep who again put me on hold and confirmed(by again talking to his supers/putting me on hold) that the first one was incorrect and I would lose it.

I asked him to restore back the old plan and he said he could do that on his end. But my Account still has the “Pending Changes” even though he assured me that it will not be effective on the future date.
    So waiting

Legere!! Train your CSRs both on line and in store with every plan (including asinine ones). UNCARRIER does not mean your CSRs are misinformed with the plans….

  • MitchRyan912

Recently there was an “add one line (for $20), get another line free” deal going, maybe a month or two ago. If I switched from the $100 10 GB plan to this new 6 GB promo plan, would that type of deal be available again anytime soon?

  • Riley Biers

    anyone knows when this expires?

  • Dan Adams

It already expired … unfortunately is lasted only about three weeks.

  • Glenn Bolton

I so happened into TMobile and got this 2 Line for $80 with 6GB of Data on the last day they offered it. Saves us about $50/month from our former ATT plan. SO RELIEVED to not worry about data caps/overage fees that were getting common on our ATT bill. Throttling? I don’t care…just don’t charge me. :)
