Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL tipped to come in Windows 10 Mobile and Android versions

It’s not often that we see a company release the same phone twice running two different operating systems, but it looks like that’s what Alcatel OneTouch is planning to do.

Images of the Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL leaked today, showing a device that’ll be available both with Windows 10 Mobile and Android. The fronts of the two phones look largely similar, though the physical buttons at the bottom of the Fierce XL’s face differ depending on which OS it’s running.

As far as specs go, a previous leak suggested that the Windows 10 Mobile version of the Fierce XL will have a 5.5-inch 1280×720 display, Snapdragon 210 processor, 16GB of storage, a microSD slot, 2GB of RAM, and a 2500mAh battery. Also said to be included are 8-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front cameras. While there’s been no concrete leak of the Android version’s specs, it’s entirely possible that it’ll have the same features as its Windows 10 Mobile counterpart.

One other thing that’s notable is that both models are said to be T-Mobile-bound. The aforementioned specs leak also mentioned VoLTE support for the Windows 10 Mobile version, and as before, it seems likely that the Android version will have features similar to the Windows model.

There’s no word yet on how much the Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL might cost, but if it does indeed have features like a Snapdragon 210 and 2GB of RAM, it should be on the affordable side of things. That could make it a worthwhile option for folks that want a device with a big screen but not a big price.

The Fierce XL is tipped to launch in December.

The main problem I see is that since Microsoft gave AT&T the exclusive on the Lumia, no other OEM will offer a Windows 10 device with equal premium Specs, so in turn, WP10 will be known for midrange – low budget offerings. OEMs will save the premium Specs for Android Devices which they can make a profit out of over the WP10 line…Microsoft Blew it.

    • That’s just on the Lumia 950. The XL will not be sold to any carrier.

I think this phone will only discourage those who have no experience with windows phone even more. I’m not saying that it’s a bad phone but given the history of the many opinion’s on this os, this isn’t gonna do much for windows. I think people needs to see windows best (flagship) to make them somewhat interested. Even if that doesn’t work it’s better to show your best impression off the bat. Also, I hope Tmobile is trying to get a phone from MSFT.

The specs on this phone is sad. I really wanted the Lumia 950. I really don’t see this phone moving many units in W10M flavor.

      What do you mean exactly?

  • Steve Griffin

I hope Alcatel is doing better at manufacturing phones from a year ago. My neighbor had a Fierce (Android of course) and it started having operating problems after a month or so. I told her to take it back and get a different one. She got the Lumia 635, my fault. What a waste of a phone. Tmo had nothing else to offer in WP. At least there will be another option to explore in WP. I won’t even consider BLU..

I have the Alcatel Idol3 and love it, They really stepped up their game

I really enjoy mine as well except now (4 months in) I have discoloration on my screen and support is horrifying. Because the phone is $200 ($250 now) I’m thinking it will just be a throwaway for me. Shipping at my expense and 7-10 days isn’t appealing.

        • Steve Griffin

See that’s what I mean, I don’t think they have stepped up there game. If it’s cheap enough, I’ll give it a shot.

        • Acdc1a

I don’t know that it’s the quality necessarily. Certainly the support falls short of my expectations. We’ll see what the experience of others is.

      Whats wrong with the 635?

      • Steve Griffin

It don’t have a front camera, and no flash. I had to reboot it twice cause the dial-keys keep scrunching.

got a new fierce 2 for free a while ago for my fouth line …… its terrible!

    • Bob D

My family each had a Fierce 2s for almost a year. Never had any issues with it. We only paid $35 each new. Its a you get what you pay for phone.

      • J.J.

ive never had issues with it either if by no issues you mean it makes phone calls/acts like a smartphone. but other than that its terribly slow in all categories/very laggy/terrible cameras, well worth its free price tag. if one has never had a oems flagship then one has nothing to compare this too and it will do you just fine
