tmobilesummershocker

T-Mobile today kicked off its Summer Shocker sale, a two-day event that offers discounts on several smartphones when ordered online or through telesales.

The Summer Shocker sale includes Android and iOS hardware that range from high-end and new to more affordable. The fine print of the promo mentions that you’ll need to be a new customer or sign up for a new line to take advantage of these deals. Here’s a quick rundown of the discounts that T-Mobile is offering for its Summer Shocker sale:

  • Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 edge for $48 off with code DEAL48
  • iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus for $72 off with code SAVEBIG
  • LG G2 for $144 off with code G2DEAL
  • Samsung Galaxy S5 and Google Nexus 5 for $48 off with code CPO48
  • LG Leon LTE for $36 off with code LEONPROMO

T-Mobile is also offering deals through telesales, which you can reach by calling (877) 362-6688. T-Mo touts that you can get “smartphone deals starting as low as $19.20,” which is the price of the Alcatel OneTouch Evolve 2.

I hope this isn’t what JL said he was planning for “next week”…

    • Marc Klein

      JL isn’t stupid.

      • archerian

but these “deals” kind of are… $300 original price for a Nexus 5, $400 for a G2, $140 for a Leon … the savings on the superphones aren’t as good as the Memorial Day sale + rebate

        • Frankwhitess

Dude, if you seriously think this is a Big Deal,.. You are one lost cookie…

        • archerian

ha, read the whole thread chain … JL isn’t stupid -> but these deals kind of are… (stupid) Summer Shocker is basically a Summer Stock Clearance event ..

        • williejackbrainer

          Lost cookie LOL

        • gmo8492

He always makes a big deal out of nothing. That’s what he lives for, nit-picking.

        • archerian

if by ‘he’ you meant me, your reading comprehension needs serious work. I’ll give you a tip – in a thread start reading from the start of the thread. Or maybe I can dumb it down for you – I never said this was a Big Deal, quite the opposite.

        • gmo8492

Seems like I struck a nerve with you, but in all honesty I never questioned your intelligence which is where I draw the line with most of my posts. But it’s all fair game right? Look, this goes back to your past post history and not necessarily this one. Most often than not you go out of your way to tear apart anybody’s argument just because it doesn’t fit in with your ideals. Even though you didn’t say it was a big deal, some of it’s implied. I’m no T-Mobile shill or paid sponsor, just an average customer. I do call them out when I can like on certain policies that are deceptive and that are just plain wrong. But the habitual axe to grind from people like you really gets old after a while since this a fan site and not a comprehensive review of T-mobile as a company.

        • archerian

You know after reading it again, I agree I have been a bit too harsh with my earlier comment. I apologize if it came as an outburst. However I don’t understand how you could deduce I thought this was a big deal, all my statements are on the contrary. Not to prolong anything, just curious. Apologies again.

        • gmo8492

It’s fine, I can see that you bring a lot to the table when it comes to key insights and info about the wireless industry. I’m not exactly an expert when it comes to carrier aggregation or build outs but I give my two cents on it regardless. I didn’t want to turn this into a flame war so I apologize if you took my comment the wrong way. In the end I think we all deserve better service, deals, and rates when it comes to mobile.

        • Frankwhitess

4 lines, everything unlimited including 4G LTE data and a back rub for $100.00 is a ” Big Deal ” for me..

Selling phones that are about to lose a boat load of value once the Note 5, i phone 6s, Nexus 2015 etc, come out, is not a Big Deal,… But a Really Sad Deal..

        • archerian

$25 for UL everything per line, dream on

  • guest

hopefully the 6s comes with band 12 im still on iphone 4

    • williejackbrainer

It will support 12 band. Just like the current Iphone 6 and 6+

      • Jay

iPhone 6 and 6+ does not support Band 12.

        • williejackbrainer

You’re right. I was thinking of the Nexus 6. My mistake.

  • Ceefu

    Meh.

“New customers or new lines only.”

  • Kevin Fowler

Once again existing customers get the shaft. I am tired of only new customers getting the deals.

    • williejackbrainer

They’re trying to gain more customers.

      • Kevin Fowler

So what, without us existing customers they wouldn’t be in business.

        • williejackbrainer

I agree with you man, however without gaining new customers they will not stay in business nor will they have the money to build out the coverage throughout the country.

        • williejackbrainer

It also seems like they’re trying to move some old inventory. LG G2, Nexus 5 Galaxy S5.

    • 21stNow

I agree. I guess this is another pain point that the Un-Carrier is relieving for us. s

    • MadJoe

How so? All of these prices are available to me as an existing customer. I log into my account, click Upgrade and then nav to any one of these phones (plus the Note 4 has $49 off right now) and I get this price without having to input a promo code. You really should have tried before bitching about it.

      • Adam

I logged in and hit upgrade, but the phones show full price.

        • MadJoe

Hmm, weird. I get the offers when upgrading. Maybe because I have Score?

    • Kiwini

So much for Uncarrier. Treating you like every other carrier. ( by the way, my vet’s name is Kevin Fowler)

      • yankeesusa

It works for current customers who are upgrading their current phone.

  • thatuptowncat37

Im thinking about getting into a 6plus…..Any advice?

    • williejackbrainer

Depends on your preference. They’re nice phones, my roommate has one, but I don’t think it can compete with my Nexus 6. Just my personal opinion.

    • brybry

lease to buy might be a better option. since they’re giving a $200 discount on that.

    • gmo8492

I just think it’s too expensive for what you get. A deal breaker for me is that it doesn’t have band 12, so you won’t be able to take advantage of T-Mobile new LTE areas. Just wait for the 6s Plus or whatever Apple announces later this year. If you can’t wait then go for an LG G4 which in some ways is better than the GS6 unless you’re heavily invested in Apple’s ios ecosystem.

    • MadJoe

It’s overly big for the amount of screen you get. It’s physically larger than a Note 4, costs more, but has a smaller screen. Not a Samsung fan? The LG G4 is a direct competitor of the iPhone 6 plus. The advantage is that it’s chassis is also smaller in almost every regard, making it a less awkward choice, but has the same size screen (and higher resolution). The absolutely only reason to opt for the iP6+ over the Note 4 or G4 is if you’re hard set on iOS over Android, or absolutely needing a fingerprint reader (the Note 4 has one, but the iPhone’s is far superior).

      • JJCommonSense

I have both the N4 and the G4, and ive been pretty impressed with this LG. The camera is awesome, especially the front facing cam. Its running a near stock version of android and has a pretty stellar battery life. My Note 4 is still my daily driver since ive had it longer and i love my SPen.. But if it wasnt for that SPen and those features i probably would have ditched that thing completely.

    • itguy08

Just Do it. Came from a POS Android (GS5) to an iP6+ and there is no comparison. Battery life is awesome, software actually works, and it’s a great overall upgrade.

      • yankeesusa

Really, your comparing a current gen phone to a phone that’s 2 years old? LOL

        • itguy08

          Math not your strong suit?

Galaxy S5 release date in the USA – 4/11/14
iPhone 6 release date in the USA – 9/19/14

          That’s 5 months, not 2 years.

        • yankeesusa

LOL. I got a release date wrong… it’s ok, stay calm, it’s not the end of the world.

        • itguy08

Perhaps before bashing you should at least have your facts correct.

        • yankeesusa

Ok. When this becomes my job I’ll do research and use a computer instead of my phone. Thanks for checking for me and correcting the info.

    • steveb944

Get the G4 instead. Or wait for the new Note or Nexus.

If you need iOS…Wait a few months for the 6S+.

  • Carlos

Leon $70 bucks at Best Buy.

  • Annoyed

Seriously, why does the “uncarrier” continue this practice of only offering device discounts to new customers? Phones are already more expensive from TMO (And I’m talking full retail here, not w/ contract discounts)

    • Kiwini

Because they’re treating you like every other carrier doEs. Stop falling for the marketing BS. I suggest tweeting your question to Legere directly & see if you get a response. Uncarrier would everyone equally, esp loyal customers

    • yankeesusa

These discounts work for current users also.

  • Perry

    Galaxy S6 here I come!

  • Jay Holm

Does anyone happen to know if T-mobile will have 700mhz Band 12 in both Galveston and Houston Texas? Also, does anyone know if when more of METROPCS is shut down, will Galveston & Houston have 20mhz of LTE soectrum?

    • T-Mobile already has Band 12 (700Mhz) active in Galveston and Houstion, Texas. At the top of this website, click on “700Mhz LTE Map” to see where there is band 12 coverage.

      • Jay Holm

Ok, great! What about 20mhz Wideband LTE when MetroPCS is shut off and refarmed?

  • JJCommonSense

The LG Leon is on sale for $69 at Best Buy….

    • Dominimmiv

Picked up for my son. Not a bad deal for a band 12/VoLTE phone. Smooth enough for him but camera is not so hot. I may get another for myself to play with since my G3 lacks band 12 and VoLte and I am not killing another one with their Lollipop update.

  • Kiwini

    With a new iPhone coming out on 3 months, I don’t think $70 off is a shock…

    • Roger Sales

It is a great deal, but I think holding out for a band 12/AWS-3 device is in most people’s best interest if they’ve waited this long for an upgrade.

  • Iz Zoo

That’s not a big sale especially if it’s online only and for only 2 days.

    • yankeesusa

How much more off do you expect? Their off contract phones that don’t require contracts unless you opt for lease.

  • Mike

Tmo should be ashamed of itself and its sloppy tracking of the EIP. Twice now I have had to call TMO to request that the EIP charges be removed from bill as the equipment has be paid in full. Each time the CRS acknowledged that the phone has been paid off in full and should not have been on the bill. WTF. T-MOBILE can track my data usage to the byte but can’t track when equipment is paid off. If you use the EIP to purchase a new devise whatch your bill like a hawk cause TMO will continue to charge you till you bring it to their attention. Wonder If I wasn’t watching if they would have self corrected and further wonder how many months (if at all) it would have taken T-MOBILE to identify the over charge. Common thieves and whores.

  • Bill Berry

God bless all of you who have these fine toys! I share living between Warm Springs, GA and no T-Mobile service whatsoever and Opelika, AL and a pegged out T-Mobile LTE service there. So I’m anxiously waiting for T-Mobile to turn on Band 12 outside of Atlanta metropolitan where I can use T-Mobile in the boonies of West Central Georgia where Verizon Wireless and AT&T have LTE. I’d appreciate knowing whether or when it will be made available say for example in the cities of Thomaston, Woodbury, Warm Springs, Greenville, Manchester or as I like to call it, the donut hole; thanks!
