T-Mobile could be about to launch an awesome tablet promo in time for Father’s day

g pad f

We’ve been informed by a couple of our sources that T-Mobile has something big planned for the small LG G Pad tablet this month, just in time for Father’s Day. T-Mobile told its employees a few days back that the G Pad F 8.0 will launch on June 17th. What it hasn’t shared in the online community  (as far as we know) is that it’s also readying a pretty big promotion to coincide with the launch next week.

One of our sources informed us that his retail location is due to receive a huge number of the LG tablets. In fact, they’re expecting almost 100 of the G Pad F’s in, ready for when the device is released on June 17th. Now this would be a pretty big number for any tablet, regardless of manufacturer. Our source speculated that there is an offer coming. Speculation which a second source has agreed with, saying that it will be similar to the deal offered on the Alcatel OneTouch Pop 7 tablet.

If that’s the case, we’re expecting T-Mobile to offer the LG G Pad F 8.0 for free, as long as you sing up to a qualifying data plan. With the Alcatel OneTouch tablet earlier this year, T-Mo required that customers sign up to a 24-month EIP with payments of $7 per month and $0 up front. This $7 was then refunded each month as bill credit, effectively making the tablet free. The only requirement was that you sign up to a 1GB or higher postpaid mobile internet plan.  All indications seem to suggest that the deal will be similar with the LG tablet. Saying that, neither of our sources was certain on any specific details of the offer.

As rumors go, feel free to file this one in your “looking likely but not concrete” drawer. The fact that so many of these tablets are making their way to stores is a sign of something happening. Exactly what that “something” is, is yet to be seen. Keep your eyes peeled folks, and we’ll do the same. If we hear more details, we’ll be sure to share them with you.

    Ugh.

I need/want a high-end 7″ LTE-enabled tablet. I’ve got 5GB/month @ $10 a month to burn through and while my Nexus 7 LTE still works, it’s slow, has no vibration-feedback, and the audio is just barely decent.

I would love to see a 7″ flagship tablet with LTE, front-facing speakers, and a high-end audio-processor. (1080p screen is fine, so long as it is watchable in direct sunlight – it sucks to have your dashboard media screen unreadable while the sun is behind you,)

The xperia z3 tablet compact is the best for ya mah friend. Totally high end tablet with 801 processor, same as xperia z3 smartphone

      • PC_Tool

Near as I can tell it’s 8″ and has no LTE. If that’s the case, it’s not an option.

Consider Asus ME572CL. It has B2 and B4 for both HSPA and LTE.

  • JLV90

I wouldn’t consider the G pad an awesome tablet. If they were awesome Verizon and AT&T wouldn’t be giving them away for free* (on two year contract) to boost their customer numbers.

  • Mark McCoskey

I might have to look into it.

Not such a great deal if you have an unlimited (or larger than 1GB) phone data plan. You can match your data (5GB for unlimited) for $10 or get the 1GB plan for $10 ($20 – $10 voice discount). So you get a free tablet with this deal but you also lose out on 4GB of data. I guess it depends on how much tablet data your looking for…

    • John

For the last two free tablet promotions, it has been any data plan with 1gb or over of data. INcluding Datamatch

I think I will take a bite for LG G Pad. It’s not bad as basic tablet for web or 720p videos.

  • trife

    Thanks but no thanks, TMO.

  • Philip

I got the LG G Pad for $220 last year. Its a 8.3″ screen. Is this it?

  • Des

Is this just for the LG Pad or will other tablets be included? If they have the n9 i’ll bite.

    • jp

Prolly just the GPad. Nexus 9 is a premium tablet. They’ll often offer free promos on the cheap tablets but just a discount on, say the iPads.

    • Andrew Singleton

$650 tablet will not be given out for free, garanteed.

      • Des

I don’t want it free. I didn’t read the whole article. I was going with the title of tablet promo.

Speaking of the N9 what happened to it love your idea

You know what is getting out of control on this site??? ALL THE POP UP AND SLIDE DOWN ADS!!!!!! SERIOUSLY GET RID OF THEM.

    • Goat

He can’t as he doesn’t control them. Invest your time into Ad-Plock Plus.

      • MadJoe

I found Ad Block Plus was bulky and complicated, so I went back to the original Ad Block. What benefit do you get from the Plus that I’m missing? I honestly never have trouble with ads using the original, and I rarely ever have to add an element (I felt like i needed to add millions of elements that ended up blocking too much some times when I was using Plus).

        • Goat

Honestly, I don’t think there’s a real difference. I just use ABP, but I think they essentially do the same thing.

      • Tomanyads

Why is it out of his control? This is the only website that I have ever been to that does this.

        • Goat

PhoneDog deals with it, I just posted something similar to this the other day.

  • Goat

I might Get onboard with this, the tablet seems to be Band 12 capable :3

  • alex

its low end one worth about $100 or even less

  • Bklynman
