Tonight’s Uncarrier 5.0 event will be live-streamed [link]

Legere-578-80

T-Mobile’s next Uncarrier phase is going to be unveiled at a special event in the company’s home town of Seattle, at the Paramount Theater. It’s due to kick off at 6pm Pacific Time (9pm Eastern) and run for approximately 1 hour. More importantly, the event is going to be live streamed.

If you want to tune in and watch the event as it happens, hit this link.

As for what to expect, we haven’t got all the details. Rumors predict that it could be a new tax/fees-inclusive pricing system. But it’s likely to be more than that, with yet further announcements of network upgrades expected and the introduction of a new, simpler billing system with no prorated charges, and EIP included from the first bill.

Whatever’s announced, I’m pretty sure we’re all excited about T-Mobile’s next industry-changing move. Unless it’s a merger with Sprint, of course.

    Unlike the Amazon event…

    • Cam Bunton

      Is Amazon not live-streaming?

      • Mathew Colburn

        No, it’s not, unfortunately.

  • alex

Really hoping for taxes and fees included .With discount being dropped my bill went up $27 a month.

    • Joe

Discounts were grandfathered in. I kept mine.

      • alex

        most of them were not

        • Medion

Almost all of them were for existing customers. You only lost your discount if you were too lazy to click the verify link.

There were some AAA costumers who has issues with the verification link. I’m sure there were other isolated issues as well.

        • alex
        • Medion

Yup. The vast majority of T-Mobile users are grandfathered in. You found one exception. Doesn’t fit your statement of “most” being cut off. Thanks for proving me right : )

Unless you actually think that most T-Mobile customers belonged to that discount group.

        • Hornos

If you’d bothered to look at that thread for more than a second, you would have seen that there are more than just one exception for those discontinued discounts.

Further, the problem a lot of people have with this whole thing is less T-Mobile’s unilaterally cancelling the discount than the rather crappy way they handled it. That said, I should probably thank T-Mobile for forcing me to leave because that will cut what my T-Mobile post-discount removal bill for 2 Simple Choice lines + taxes + fees in half.

        • Medion

Now you’re moving the goal posts. So, let’s get back on topic. The original statement was that T-Mobile canceled most discounts. He was wrong.

        • AVDLOVER

That’s an association discount…tmobile still has over 6,000,000 people grandfathered into the discount because they work at a employer that offered them a discount. If you lost your association discount but work for an employer that had a t-mobile discount you have until October 2014 to re-verify your account with your employer email or paycheck stud and you will be transferred over to the discount and grandfathered in.

        • Hornos

No, you do NOT have until October 2014 to verify your eligibility, According to T-Mobile and the official postcards, people with association discounts have until June 26, 2014 to verify whether they qualify some other way. The postcards explicitly state that if you don’t have some other way to get the discount, it comes off your bill as of June 27, 2014.

        • sealion

It’ll be taken off, but you get be readded back on by the end of the year.

        • Medion

You must be an expert at being wrong. You have until the date on the post card, which if different for everyone. Mine was June 12. After that, you can get reinstated if fine by October.

    • monkeybutts

That sucks, hope you can get this new discount. It’s only like $15 taxes and fees for my 5 lines but I know it’s a lot more for people in other parts of the country.

      • alex

its more bec i have 5 lines all with unlimited internet and 2 with international $15 so my bill is $240 plus tax fees

    • Dakota

Why are their fees so high when I pay $1.42 in tax/fees on Straight Talk.

      • alex

Straight talk is prepaid.T-mobile i don’t have contract but it still post paid.I wouldn’t mind to pay in advance in exchange for low taxes/fees. LOL

  • tech916

Lets see what Geppetto does next. Wish someone would cut the strings off the old saggy puppet.

  • jon

Im in the tmobile call center they wont tell us either but i hope your right

    • GreatNews

Did they tell you when the LG G3 will be released?

  • ceegii63

ATT and AMAZON should stick together, that Fire Phone was nasty with gimmicks

  • Dakota

I dont think I’ve ever heard of a company holding a major press announcement at 9pn ET. Why not just hold it on a different day.

    • reb

The company is based out of Seattle so it will be broadcast on Pacific time

  • Alex Pilaia

1 clean bill to read with taxes/fees included would be great…. Maybe sprinkle in something that has to do with long time customer appreciation, and that would make me happy… the longer you stay, the less your bill will be…

  • hanfeedback

    what Im looking forward to:
    1. Taxes included
    2. Improved domestic roaming options????
    3. Updates on VOLTE rollout and EDGE —> LTE upgrades
    4. 700A rollout/device updates

Other things like the unlocking changes that have been rumored are ok, but Id like to see the 4 items I listed more.

    • Austin

YES to 1 and 2. I just used up my domestic roaming today.

      • hanfeedback

I rarely roam but for example I am going to Alaska in August and having to go through the hassle of finding a data option for a week is really aggravating. Even if I had to pay for any amount of domestic roaming I would be ok with that.

      • http://knightofscorpio.tumblr.com/ DtheArtist

Is this yes as in you think yes to 1, or they actually confirmed yes to 1? @disqus_AyGHcNhteJ:disqus

        • Austin

          I was agreeing.

  • Clevenger23

Personally I want sprint to buy T-Mobile. Better coverage for me

    • J-Hop2o6

      Ahahaha, no.

      • Clevenger23

Sprint has by far more LTE and in different places then T-Mobile. So umm yes. More LTE is never bad

        • Adrayven

No.. The maps are nearly identical.. Several comparison charts have shown this.. and T-Mobile has a larger LTE network.. Sprint has not even finished their existing areas yet. Much less spark.. Thats one of the reasons analysts are questioning the merger.. since they cover a nearly identical area.. what real benefit? They both need low band.. .. err.. not a good match up..

Sprints horribly in debt and would kill us with contracts, higher rates, etc.. keep your sprint!

        • JBLmobileG1

Can you even call Sprints LTE, LTE? Heck T-Mobile 3 is faster. LOL

        • philyew

Is this the comment you think has been deleted? I don’t think that even Sprint claim to have more LTE coverage than TM. Both anticipate covering 250 million POPs by mid year.

Before donning the tin foil hat, what comment are you referring to? Only comment that I’m aware of being removed are from the spammer from the past 30 minutes.

Again my post get deleted. Why do you delete someone who is simply speaking the truth

  • inkdot23

Unlimited tethering from your phone and an unlimited data plan, priced reasonably for tablets would be nice.

  • http://www.t-mobile.com Big-Myke Kanuri

I am already linked up…listening to some ac/rap music. Waiting for the live webcast to begin.

  • Alex Pilaia

Lower price to join the JUMP Program would be nice. Or maybe they have a music partnership to announce, like Apple/Beats…. HTC/Harmon Kardon… Tmobile/Bose???

  • Andrew

    I wish T-Mobile had better coverage. :’(

    • Allen Straith

      It’s getting better.

      • Andrew

It is, but I get much better coverage now with AT&T. I used to have T-Mobile and I wouldn’t get ANY coverage whatsoever on any expressway I would travel on. :(

        • superg05

          test drive in august?

        • Andrew

What’s in August? I definitely want to test drive the network again, though, as I’ve looked up a lot of different areas I go to that didn’t have great service (2G) and now they have excellent to very strong service.

  • Allen Straith

I would be excited about a T-Mobile and Sprint Merger. T-Mobile could make Sprint’s pile of spectrum into good use.

    • Justin747

      No for so many reasons

  • Daniel Holt

    Worst live stream ever

  • John

The link is not showing anything. Anyone else have this problem?

      Not seeing anything myself.

    Can’t see anything

  • Marcus

Days of excitement only to be ruined by a crappy streaming server :(

    • Justin747

Mine is working fine. It take a second to load the login screen. Then it’s fine after that.

      • Marcus

I registered and tried the stream a few hours ago.. Worked fine with music and all… I’m gonna guess that the server can’t handle the load with all of us trying to log on at the same time. Bummer!

        • Justin747

Try CNET. They are streaming also

  • MarkieE

John just called ATT and Verizon “greedy bastards”. LOL

  • Cornelius Hardy

Won’t work on my 925 because of flash but streaming fine on the computer.

    • superg05

damn that sucks works on my galaxy note 3 with flash player

  • Justin747

They need to stamp this stream NSFW for strong language and violence.

Dropping F-bombs and punching the competitors left and right.

  • taron19119

Can t-mobile use YouTube for live streaming next time

    • metalspy8

      they had links on youtube.

He’s from Boston originally, part of his accent.

  • philyew

I joined late and only got to hear about free music streaming and test drives. What else was there?

    • Josh Cooley

7-day test drive of an iPhone 5s

      • philyew

I thought he said for any phone. One test drive per year per household/ credit card. Three devices for potential business accounts. Open to existing customers as well.

        • Adrayven

Apple is providing the phones for test drives for free.. He was ‘open’ to other devices, but I’m guessing other OEM’s would need to step up to provide the device. None have so it’s iPhone 5s Only for now..

Willing to bet by end year others step up..

        • philyew

I agree, if it has an impact on iPhone sales.

        • Josh Cooley

I believe an earlier question asked specifically about android, and Legere said this was in partnership with Apple. But you’re right about the business accounts. The free streaming is with 8 partners, plus a special Rhapsody unRadio for unlimited data plans (or $4/mo for other customers)

        • philyew

Wasn’t there some comment towards the end in response to a question about the possibility of having some kind of poll to decide the services, and maybe even selecting them on the my-tmobile dashboard? (Neville went visibly pale at the idea ;-)

        • Josh Cooley
        • Josh Cooley

Link posted, but waiting to be approved. It’s at t-mobile domain followed by musicfreedom

        • philyew

Thanks, got it. Unfortunately, no use to me, I use my own server LOL

        • Clevenger23

Only iPhone. They partnered with apple to do this.

  • Aslan

Where can I stream the Macklemore concert?

  • Garblicks

plse read regarding the radio app for unlimited data users http://news.rhapsody.com/2014/06/18/introducing-rhapsody-unradio/

  • JBLmobileG1

Anyone else try Rhapsody unradio but get an error when trying to signup?

    • Andrew

I tried but didn’t see the option to signup for free, just for $4/month. I’m on the (grandfathered $70) unlimited LTE plan.

      • JBLmobileG1

Same here but I just keep getting an error message.

      • Clevenger23

That is only for people on the new simply unlimited plans. I don’t think the old ones are apart of that.

        • Andrew

          If true, I’m quite disappointed.

      • Clevenger23

T-Mobile will offer Rhapsody unRadio at no additional charge to customers on the Simple Choice plan for its newest unlimited 4G LTE data service,

    • $15454173

Not yet but I am going to try. I imagine its either not ready or its getting hammered.

    • philyew

It says “Available June 22″ above the link…

  • JaswinderSinghJammu

I like what they are doing but little disappointed for not announcing any 2G upgrades and metro pcs spectrum integration

    • philyew

What 2G upgrades can they announce as part of Uncarrier? They’ve already said work has started to upgrade the entire existing 2G footprint to LTE with completion scheduled by mid 2015.

It’s going to be steady incremental advances in small markets for the next 12 months.

      • Clevenger23

My area must be one of the last ones. Almost all of northern Indiana minus two cities are all edge network

        • Clevenger23

Although there coverage map says otherwise. It says I have LTE at my house and my entire city…. Not true only hspa is here. I have a nexus 5

        • philyew

Don’t take offense if I ask whether you’ve checked to make sure your mobile network preference is definitely set to LTE. On the N5 it’s Settings>More>Mobile networks>Preferred Network Type.

        • Clevenger23

No offense trust me in my line if work I understand the questions. And yes it is. If I drive 25 miles over three is LTE. In the next county. Works great and extremely fast. But not in my area. I called customer service and they just say it shows I should have LTE. Yet every phone on my account does not have LTE here.

        • philyew

I have to say that there is something that does not seem right about the TM map. Neither Sensorly nor RootMetrics show any LTE coverage east of the Walmart on McKinley between Elkhart and South Bend, yet the TM coverage map shows the area bathed in LTE coverage. Of course, the crowd sourced data could be out-of-date, but your own experiences indicate that isn’t the case.

I’d persist in reporting it. If they won’t take the report seriously at the customer service call center, contact TForce through social media or email.

        • Clevenger23

It doesn’t really reach to the Walmart either. At least I didn’t notice. I am going to make a trip that way and see where it starts. I know that is close cause I just went that way this week. But I thought it didn’t get LTE until a little more into saint Jo county. Going to have to recheck that…. And how do you contact TForce? Never herd of that. Only been with T-Mobile for about 6 months now

        • philyew

You can email them using tforce{@}t-mobile{.}com. Just remove the curly brackets from that address. Include your name and account details, detail the problem and mention the absence of LTE in the Sensorly and RootMetrics data, even though the coverage map suggests blanket coverage.

        • philyew

There’s a year to go for the 2G upgrade program. Your area is last in the sense that around 240 million POPs were covered in the original 3G upgrade program, but not necessarily last as part of the 2G program.

        • Clevenger23

What about their map saying I have LTE coverage yet there is none

        • philyew

Look up your ZIP code on Sensorly or one of the other crowd sourced network mapping services. Does it look like anyone else has experienced LTE service in the area? What’s your ZIP code?

        • Clevenger23

46514 and I just download sensorly I guess no one around here had it because it has no days for any carrier. Lol

    • sushimane

there’s always un-carrier 7.0 late summer i was looking forward for Neville to talk about it myself i wanna see the strong signal in new england is.

  • JBLmobileG1

Very strange, it says Failed to get Web address when I click the sign up button on the Rhapsody unradio app. I also notice that when it tells me this my 4gLTE disappears on my Note 3 as if I lost my data connection but then comes back when I exit the app or wait a bit. Anyone else having this issue?

    • Clevenger23

Happens every time for me went on Wi-Fi to sign up then it worked. But he said you could replay a song instantly also. And I can’t. But also it won’t be fully implemented until tomorrow. Do you happen to have a nexus cause that’s what I have that it is doing this on.

Nope. I simply made a statement that sprint has more LTE in more places then T-Mobile. It had been removed. Also I replied to superg05 and it was removed. No profain language no links
