T-Mobile And…Xzibit Talk About The No-Contract Experience

Please forgive me for this…but you’ve just been pimped by T-Mobile. Now that I got that out-of-the-way, T-Mobile is adding another round of “celebrities” to their marketing staple with this 50 second spot. Xzibit, famous for his rapping but more famous for his host gig on MTV’s Pimp My Car talks about how he made the switch from AT&T to T-Mobile. Really, just watch this video.

Actor, Rapper and Producer Xzibit doesn’t have contracts in his music career, so why should he have them for his wireless carrier? See how he lives the unlimited life with T-Mobile.

The show was “Pimp My Ride” not “Pimp My Car” smh.

Yeah, c’mon, Dave. That was SO not cool. Lol.

      • Wilma Flintstone

That show was all about Mad Mike. Lol

It’s good that he mentions Wi-fi calling. This is a competitive advantage that T-Mobile doesn’t mention often enough, probably because not all devices support it. I hope that when they cut this down to a 30-second spot, the Wi-fi calling feature will still be in the commercial.

    • http://about.me/daylondeon Deacon

yeah i definitely agree on the WiFi calling feature.

    • Dave

As I understand, Wi-Fi calling is still not available on the iPhone 5?

      • WW

There’s no independent “app” (you can’t go to the app store to download/install it) for wi-fi calling. It’s more akin to carrier “bloatware”. I believe, like the store-sold Nexus 4, there’s no bloatware on the iPhone (pure Apple experience) so this T-Mobile feature wouldn’t be included.

I question the validity of this ad. Xzhibit doesn’t have contracts in his music career? Seriously? I thought the record skipped after that statement because it sounded like complete bullshit. What musical artists DON’T have contracts? I love Magenta & their new direction, but the ad was kinda silly.

    • Daniel

The kind that don’t make music. LOL!

    • Mark

Some current artists, like Janis Ian, release everything independently by choice. Others, like Xzibit, probably do so because they were dropped by their label. (According to WP, he has his own label now.)

    • jose

I think they need to hire a new advertising firm because these new commercial s are terrible .

  • tulio

    Pimp my ride*

  • Paul

I like Xzibit, in general, but this isn’t a strong ad.

He went 6 years with no album and released one last year that no one knew was released. It’s not as though he’s known for more than the MTV show…or one of those washed-up celebrity shows.

If they want to use celebrities they need to get bigger names. The common thinking person won’t just carriers because a celebrity tells them. Only kids do that, and they are on their parent’s plans.

    • conservative_motorcyclist

That got me thinking…Maybe T-Mobile should become a “task” for the next season of Celebrity Apprentice! Plenty of star power there lol

  • Xzibit

Let’s just say that I’ve never ever used wifi calling. Right now I get at least 1-2 bars and if I’m lucky I’d get more in my new apartment. When my dad calls me sometimes it’ll cut in and out but I text and do everything else more than make calls but I do think it’s a great feature

    • 50cent

well i haveused wifi calling on tmobile a few times because on my loft in dowtown LA I would get zero to one bar n most calls would drop. But in other buildings in dwtwn la that had no wifi i was screwed cuz tmobile usually crapped out so i couldnt call or send a text. Movd to att never looked back i now get signal in all them buildings tmobile crapped out so no need for wifi calling on att.

      • ShermCraig

So, just curious. Why are you here?

Definitely a step up from the Woman Living in Shoe, Man Frozen in Ice, and Frankenstein commercials. These are the kinds of commericials TMo should be running by explaining what TMo actually offers!

  • John Doe

Xzibit should be a T-Mobile rep because his rap career has been irrelevant nd done for years.

  • jose

Xzibhits looks like he gained about 75# this dude is a hasbeen washed up broken down rapper. There a dime a dozen. He must have signed a contract to do this ad.?

    • TBN27

Yeah because he is broke down like one of those cars before he pimped them

    • steveb944

At least he was nice enough to say himself he doesn’t have a contract for his music career, which is over. Yeah he gained a contract with fat tho

  • mreveryphone

  • jbrizzy

Damn, where has he been all these years, I haven’t seen him since pimp my ride went off the air and that was a good seven years ago

  • JBrowne1012

I’ve utilized wi-fi calling definitely great feature to have when T-mobile network goes down due to their upgrades to the towers not entirely perfect but it is good

  • https://www.facebook.com/michael.t.delgado Michael D

Ahh I remember his show. Pimp my Wife I believe.

  • me

Terrible terrible ad. Xzibit hasn’t been popular since before Tmobile was even a company. And worse they have him come out and basically say “tmobiles coverage sucks but you can use wi fi so that makes up for it.” Unlimited lifestyle? What the hell’s been keeping this overweight has been so busy the last decade? Feeding his man boobs takes up that much of his time?

  • Ryan Hagge

Yo dawg I heard you like contracts without contracts of having a contract.

  • MoneyJay88

LMAO “You’ve been pimped by T-Mobile”

  • MrWar

No T-Mobile before Boost or Cricket was the ghetto carrier, you kids probably think it wasn’t but it has been. Even before it was called T-Mobile.

Um how is that racist? TMobile is not known for marketing to urban markets.
