Google Shows Off The Nexus 4 And Google Now In Brand New TV Commercial

All it took was 61 seconds during last nights Grammy Awards, but Google has totally won me over with their new television spot. Aptly titled “Nexus 4: Live in the Now,” Google shows off not only the Nexus 4 hardware, but also how useful Google Now can be in the “real world.”

No matter where you are in the world, Nexus 4 with Google Now gives you just the right information at just the right time.

Eat your heart out Siri.

    meh… Pass!

    • Bruce Banner

Wow, i didn’t know people still used meh. Expand your vocab. It’ll do wonders for you in the real world.

      • 21stNow

I think that “wow” is older than “meh”. It’s a blog post, not a dissertation.

Don’t make him angry. You won’t like him when he’s angry…

        • Herb

I’m glad I’m not the only one that saw that.

I didn’t catch the GRAMMYs last night, but I dig that commercial. Simple and informational. Google, stepping their game up! (Now if they only had enough Nexus 4′s to go around… )

    • Timbo1

Last I checked there are plenty……at T-Mobile stores that is. Haha

      • JB

Yea, My brother was able to snag one the other day from T-Mobile. I was able to snag one off of Google Play, but I’ve been hard pressed to find them anywhere in town. They have gotten better at keeping them in stock (even if the 2-3 week shipping window is kind of long) so it was just a half dig I was making at availablity. Though at the same time, I feel like if you’re going to air a commerical advertising a phone during one of the more watched programs of the year on the most watched network in the nation, then I think you need to make sure supply meets demand.

        • Timbo1

Very true. I was able to get one from the play store expecting it to ship in one to two weeks like it said but I received mine on the 4th business day. I was shocked to say the least. Maybe the lead time they give on the play store is just a worse case scenario to keep the public bitching and moaning down of some sorts. As for my area stores availability every store I asked had them in stock from Orlando to Daytona Beach except no accessories in stock minus crappy screen protectors that don’t fit the entire screen.

  • Khalints

Would get one if I didn’t rely on wifi calling so much.

  • Baduyaa

    what ??

  • Big Dangler

I believe they are running the commercial because they do have plenty of nexus 4′s. Walmart, T-mobile, and the Google Play Store are all in stock. It’s nice to see no one is paying six or seven hundred dollars on eBay anymore. People really screw each other when they get a chance.

    • Dakota

I always wonder what happened to the galaxy nexus quantity when . overnight they stopped caring them. I know a friend if mine contacted Google when their android experience was a living hell and they sent her one of that hoarded stash

      • JeffreyME

Is your problem with typing or spelling?

      • Big Dangler

They quit selling them because the I boys got an injunction against Google so they couldn’t sell the nexus. They had to remove them from the play store.

    • JB

In Google Play, they are shipping with a 2-3 week window, so I’m not so sure that qualifies as plenty, but it’s certianly better than it just being flat out unavaliable for weeks on end (like they were before) I’m not so sure all the T-Moble stores have them, as there has been a lack in my area(s), Though T-Mobile’s website is a good source to buy them, but that’s only if A) you want to get one for cheap on a classic contract or B) If you’re willing to pay what they are selling it for. I am totally with you about it being nice to see no one is really paying that much on ebay anymore. It’s almost worth the wait if you can get your hands on one through an official channel.

      • Big Dangler

I ordered one February 5 and it said 1 to 2 weeks for delivery. I received it February 8th. That was fairly quick.

Um… Ok? What’s so special about that commercial? It looks like the rest of them.

    • Herb

Yep. It looks like all of those Nexus 4 commercials I’ve seen. What?

  • yggahs

I love it! Not to overuse the expression, but I think Google Now is the killer app that Google needs to continue promoting the hell out of…It’s a simple concept that doesn’t seem like much, but it really steps up the utility of the smartphone in ways that don’t seem to be fully appreciated, and I think it differentiates Android from the competition more than any other feature.

I have a Samsung Nexus S that is barely able to keep up with Jelly Bean, but I know that I won’t consider any phone going forward that isn’t running Jelly Bean or higher, because I’ve gotten so used to the convenience of Google Now….

Now, I just need to decide whether to spring for a Nexus 4 or wait until Google I/O to see what’s next :-)….

    • TBN27

I wish it were available for the other android devices.

      • yggahs

Agreed…As I think it’s one of the real differentiating features of Android, it also exposes the major weakness of Android – the fragmentation issue. Since most Android phones are not running Jelly Bean, it means they can only run ads like the one above which tie the feature to a specific phone rather than to the OS as a whole…

Google now can’t even set an alarm for the next day. Even my friends compare their siri to google now sand kills it. Other than ask it how old a celebrity is, it doesn’t do much for me. It only opens searches abs can open about 5% of my apps & gets a fraction of my contacts right when trying to make a call

    • JeffreyME

I’d suggest you get a better keyboard app for your iPhone

      • Herb

Or a better aptitude for technology. Siri is far better than Google if you have no idea what you’re doing haha.

        • TBN27

I just bought an iPhone 5 and the google search does a better job than Siri when searching for web based information.

    • souggie

Are you trolling or you just can’t use the phone? I’ve set mine to Alarm at a certain time for the next five days with google now, I have an iphone 4s, and all siri is is a low budget google now with a little personalitu. Google now does everything for me at the command of my voice

    • souggie

Then you can’t use the phone, siri is so low budget compared to Google now. Btw, I can set my alarm for the next 5 days, so why can’t you set yours for the next day? It opens all my apps just fine, and getting my contacts with Google now is seamless. What are you doing with the phone exactly?

  • Dion Mac

The commercial is ok, but it could have been better. They could have showed how easily to set an alarm, navigate to a location, open an app, calculate math, ect. Still overall, I guess the 60 secs commercial did what it needed to do.

Now, how bout google bring that good ole terabyte internet to ATLANTA!

  • Mirad77

Plus the wireless charger now available:-)

    • 21stNow

      Thanks for the heads-up!
