New T-Mobile Commercial Highlights 220 Million Covered With Four-Gee

T-Mobile’s newest promotional spot is circling back to focus on coverage as the 30 second advertisement highlights the company’s 4G coverage for over 220 million people. This is the second spot in recent memory completely dedicated to coverage, with the first commercial airing back in July featuring Carly crisscrossing the country and visiting all the places T-Mobile covers with 37,000+ towers. This time around, we’re getting helicopters and lots and lots and lots of Magenta lights.

Where does T-Mobile have superfast 4G coverage? Across thousands of cities and millions of miles, T-Mobile’s nationwide 4G coverage has you covered from coast to coast. See for yourself at T-Mobile.com/Coverage.

  • t

People r not stupid there not getting tmobile becsuse u cant leave a big city because you will not get service thats why nobody wants tmobile because coverage

    • Troico

I have to say as a flight attendant I travel for a living. I have never been without coverage on T-Mobile.

      • od312

Of course. You travel to major cities and airports

        • eurohomie

I Drive through Texas very often. Going from Houston to Austin, Dallas, or San Antonio and stream Radio through Tunein pretty much the whole trip. Also drove from houston to miami and always had signal with about 75% of the time having 4G…

As for T-Mobile… Roll out my damn Note II update for multiwindow

    • Miguel Angel Portela

I don’t know. When I went to Boston and surrounding ares, T-Mobile is fantastic. So much so that it even works in the underground train platforms!

  • vicryixiv

What does “coverage” mean in this context? I have 4g at home in Long Beach but i also only get 2 bars most of the time and constantly drop calls. What good is coverage if you can’t use it?

  • Frettfreak

The biggest problem is tmo considers anything over 3mbs “4g” which its not. I get those speeds on 3g cause I don’t have 4G where is am.

    • Joel

most of the time i get 2.5 in my city ( san antonio,TX

  • Mirad77

Can Tmo get rid of Carly already and start putting out some real commercials?

    • http://www.facebook.com/DSwagg09 Dion Mac

How would you feel if somebody was after your job for no cotton picking reason huh? This was a well done commercial that was plain and clear to the audience tombile is trying to reach. No scram!

      • Mirad77

Catherine Zeta Jones did a better job.

    • Paul

Yyeeeeaaahhhh, I prefer Carly stay. They just need to make better commercials. Not focusing on the Nationwide 4G so much as the pricing, unlimited 4G data, and phones.

      • Mirad77

If Carly stays then the bike must go or something.

        • Paul

I could agree to that, I’m indifferent otherwise.

los angleles has spotty tmobile coverage with horrible slow 3G/4G in east la, compton, south central, dwtwn la ,gardenia, alhambra, long beach, santa monica , montebello , pico rivera (get no service in walmart on picomrivera wit tmobile) weho, hollywood i culd go on foreeever with places in La that tmobile is bad …. im gettin tired that in those places my tmobile galaxy note 2 is on edge 75% of the time amd when it says 4G i get horrible speeds even with full bars i get 2-4 mbps . Heck i come on here everyday and mostly everyone talks bad about at&t but my boyfriend has a galaxy s3 on at&t n daam he has better service than i do and better data speeds on LTE he has gottwn up to 20 mbps on at&t something i never seen on tmobile ohh and dropped calls i had more on tmobile he rarely drops calls on at&t just 2 days ago we were in dwtwn LA we went to the ” mercado” a place were they sell different foods he went with me to the restroom which is literally underground i had no service on tmobile while he had 3 bars on att all the way underground he was able to talk, txt use internet i cudnt do anything .. then our nxt trip the library in dwtwn i had no service in the elevator while he did then 5th floor i also had no service while he did i had to use the crappy free wifi which was hooorible slow while he had full bars of fast LTE.. i REALLY hope tmobile fixes coverage in los angeles because my patience is getting low ima give them 6 months if they dnt fix it i will be going to at&t i really hope they do something because i been a loyal tmobile customer for 4 years butni just cant take there crappy service.

    • Borninela

Be patient, give it a year really. Yes AT&T is more aggressive and quicker to deploy LTE, but if history is any indicator you’re better off on T-Mobile unless you simply want to pay at least $20 more for similar service. When Att merges with MetroPCS I presume coverage will improve in large metropolitan areas. Coverage will improve. Trust me, you boyfriend has to monitor his data usage unless he was lucky enough to keep an unlimited data. That will not be the case for T-Mobile customers. Unless your relaying on your phone for the only source of access to the Internet I’m not sure your current issue is a major problem. Just wait a year. You will not regret it and the worst that can happen is you saved money.

Are you in the “ghetto”? Because I hear people complain about VZW and ATT in those areas, because they are biased to Metro/Sprint/T-Mobile.

    • Matt

I find TMO cover in West L.A. to be more than adequate. Including Santa Monica.

    • borninela

      • caliluv78

ok thanks ill just wait a year lol but do u really think if this merger happens that coverage will improve inside buildings? i wouldnt mind if data was slow as long as i was able to keep a decent signal inside buildings to at least send texts and call.. cuz its frustating that even in walmart i cnt make calls haha same goes for home depot, macys, sears i just walk in there phone drops down to 1 bar of edge as i go in deeper the stores then i get no service while at&t always has at least 2 bars and works to call n text. And yes ur right my boyfriend dont have unlimited data he only has 3 gigs but he always keep goin over them n ends up paying ALOT more than what i pay on tmobile … thats the only reason i dnt switch to at&t cuz i dnt wanna pay a lot..

        • UMA_Fan

Even before considering the merger the modernization of the network they are doing now is supposed to increase in building signal penetration by 30%.

If there’s Metro PCS in your area by putting the spectrum together they should have a much denser network for both LTE and pcs HSPA+. So you’ll need an HSPA+ 42 phone at the least to reap the benefits.

        • caliluv78

ok thanks and yes theres metro pcs in my area, i guess ill wait .. :P

        • SouthernBlackNerd

Adding metro’s spectrum is not going to fix the signal problem. The tower would be broadcasting the same frequency as before. They only thing Metro’s spectrum would do is increase how much spectrum the tower is broadcasting.

Network Modernization will help, but if that does not solve the problem, then nothing tmobile is currently doing will. They will have to increase the number of towers in that area to improve signal. Or get <1ghz spectrum like the rest of the national carriers. That would drastically improve their signal penetration.

        • http://pharaohtechblog.blogspot.com/ Conan Kudo (ニール・ゴンパ)

Adding Metro’s towers can fix it, though. MetroPCS’s towers can easily be refitted to deploy HSPA+ on PCS, since most modern CDMA transmitter equipment have WCDMA support as well. Since T-Mobile has separate allocations from MetroPCS, it won’t require shrinking Metro’s CDMA allocation just yet.

are yous serious thats absoltly redic i live in omaha and we only have outdoor coverage even when its says exellent you have to be outside to get signal its redic

    • pdxduckfan

Leave already…….and take your poor grammar with you.

      • caliluv78

ha i i admit my first post i made a lot of mistakes because i had my fake nails on u really think its that easy typing with some big azz nails!? No its not i took em off because they were bugging me as u can see on my second post i wrote it better because i took of my nails cuz they were buggin me so it was easier to write :D

    • Nick Gonzalez

Sounds weird to me. I lived in Whittier, and worked in Anaheim for about 4 years, and I had excellent 3G coverage on my G1 all over So Cal, hell even in San Bern county. And that was about 2 years ago.

Even now when I go back to visit, I get EXCELLENT 4G service everywhere I go. I got family and friends in Downtown L.A. East Los, Long Beach, Anaheim, Montebello, Norwalk, Rancho Cucamonga, Palm Springs, Fontana, jeez I mean everywhere, and my mytouch 4G is consistently on 4G service.

  • bad signal

tmobiles coverage map says i live in a very stong signal area and i have no service even outdoors it is absouluty a joke

    • yozo

      Isn’t that false advertising?

Yeah says I live in a strong area too. On my top floor if I go North, no signal, if I stay in my Casa SouthWest of my top floor, I get a signal.

Finally, a commercial that tells us about coverage.

  • Josh Robert Nay

They may want to make their coverage map less ugly and a little smoother if they’re going to be promoting it like this. Just saying. I go look at the coverage map and it looks horrible compared to the competition.

  • iCarly

its time for a Carly sex tape to leak, now that should be real publicity for T-mobile

    • Tyberious

I do not object to this.

The way she says Anaheim in that cross-country motorcycle commercial gets me hot and bothered.

  • AndroidProfit

That new CEO of Tmobile is creepy…

  • t

tmobile stop trapping people into contracts your serivce is terrible! why should i pay 200 dollars when i have no service in about half of the city what the hell kind of customer service that

  • UMA_Fan

I think this is a good ad.

T-Mobile’s biggest problem will ALWAYS be the perception of the quality of their network. We can all agree T-Mobile has HSPA+ 42 in many many cities where at&t only has HSPA+ 14 and Sprint has slow-as-a-crawl EVDO right? It’s crazy then in those same markets at&t and sprint BEAT T-Mobile in new customer additions. Its outright nuts, actually. Never mind the fact those same people are paying more than what T-Mobile charges.

T-Mobile really needs to drill the quality of their network home until the average consumer starts to believe it.

  • jim

Tmobile has hardly any data signal in Chicago north side near the airport in Rosemont. i called and they admitted they have bad coverage in this zip code but told me I have to write to CONTRACT review dept to cancel without ETF. I wrote them over a month ago and they never respond. BBB complaint will wake them up i guess.

    • http://www.facebook.com/stormcityusa Storm Millenium

Thats not really the North Side like where I’m at. Ur like waayyy out at the edge of the city where O’Hare and Rosemont is. aka Boondocks territory. So of course service is gonna suck there.

  • UMA_Fan

Someone with a lot of time on their hands should combine this year’s Carly ads as one long video. It’s like each one begins where the last ad leaves off.

  • Bud

What s crock of shit. I go to atlantic city no feeeing service. Waiting refarming in nyc is another crock. 10 yrs with tmobile and getting sick and tired of waiting, while they play catch up to the big 3. We just got 3g

  • yozo

Remember the TV commercial, “Where’s the Beef?!” You can YouTube it.

I’d like to see one that says, “Where’s the Backhaul?!”

    • M42

I’d like one that says “where’s the coverage?”

  • Charles Ray

I live in Oxford, MS where Ole Miss is located. My voice coverage is good but only get EDGE for data (around 1Mb down), I go out to a friends house in the middle of nowhere and get 10Mb down. Been with Tmo for 10 years now, eish they would get 3g/4g here.

    • nyuhsuk

If you’re getting 1Mb down, that’s not EDGE. I think EDGE theoretically maxes out at 256K or maybe 500K… you’re getting 3G at least… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EDGE
At least the areas where I have poor service, the coverage map matches what I see. However, the highest speeds I have ever seen in the NW DC region is 8Mbps on the Amaze. Average about 3~5 usually.

    • http://pharaohtechblog.blogspot.com/ Conan Kudo (ニール・ゴンパ)

Looking at the map, I can easily see why the surrounding areas have HSPA+ coverage while Oxford itself does not. It’s surrounded by roaming coverage, and T-Mobile has prioritized to eliminate roaming coverage. Have you been calling them about it and complaining and filling out forms on http://www.t-mobile-takeaction.com/ ? Oxford isn’t too large in itself, so it wouldn’t be that expensive to upgrade.

I live in Starkville, MS myself (where Mississippi State University is located), and it seems they just switched on 4G coverage here a few weeks ago. I know I’ve been complaining about the 2G performance for years, saying that it is incredibly poor (which it was). I’m finally glad that T-Mobile upgraded our area.

      • jarjar2007

Does this site actually work “http://www.t-mobile-takeaction.com” I live in a small town in NM (Chimayo) thats been on EDGE for 9 years and it sucks i’ve called many times and nothing gets done. Any suggestions?

        • http://pharaohtechblog.blogspot.com/ Conan Kudo (ニール・ゴンパ)

It also helps if you talk to your local government (by phone or by email). If the local government can offer incentives to T-Mobile (or it least, not make it painful), an upgrade can and may very well happen. Filling out the form helps, and I believe there’s a contact by email address there, too.

  • rob

now, now, lets not attack Carly as most of us would love to have a chick like her all the time. I too am getting over her character in most of the T-Mo commercials but instead lets request she get more meat on those bones until she resembles CZJ. And now that I remember they had CZJ doin’ commercials like this all the time, ringing door bells, standing in sores, etc.

  • Nearmsp

One can drive from Minneapolis to Chicago and 85% of the way it is Edge coverage with little or no 4G on I-94. Worse, the refarmed 3G is spotty and the signal is weak. T-mobile is known for poor coverage inside buildings and in the case of the refarmed 3G the signal drops to Edge on entering the building. Seeing the advertisement only makes me want to jump ship. I would rather T-mobile put their mouth and money in getting the refarming done and working on LTE. All future devices are likely to be LTE. It will further fall behind the big players if it does not focus its energy on refarming to LTE.

  • Paul

General consensus: Make better commercials T-Mobile. I like Carly, but the most recent ones aren’t very good. NO ONE covers the entire U.S., NO ONE!
I miss when they made fun of other carriers.

  • M42

Made a business trip yesterday and drove for over an hour on I-40. I was on Edge the entire way. AT&T and Verizon has complete 4G coverage along this corridor and Sprint has partial coverage. I stay on Edge over 85% of the time with T-Mobile, but when I check AT&T’s coverage for the same areas it is 90% covered with 4G with the other 10% being covered with 3G. Verizon offers similar coverage as does Sprint. T-Mobile seems to me to be about five years behind these other carriers. They might be able to dupe non customers with these ads, but those of us who have T-Mobile know better.
