LG P769 (Optimus L9) With T-Mobile Branding Leaks To The World

Say hello to the LG P769 (Optimus L9) for T-Mobile courtesy of the @evleaks Twitter account. The LG P769 is no stranger to the market so we’ve got a pretty accurate look at the kind of specs T-Mobile will drop with this device including:

  • Android 4.0.4
  • 1GB RAM
  • 4GB internal memory
  • 4.7″ IPS TFT 854 x 480 display
  • 1GHz processor
  • HSPA+ connectivity
  • 8 megapixel camera
  • 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera
  • 2150 mAh battery

It’s not going to win over anyone looking at the Galaxy S III, but I have to wonder if this isn’t the mysterious LG U2 we saw pop up back in early September on T-Mobile’s roadmap.

LG screwed us with the G2x, never again.

  • Cameron West

Anyone who buys this phone after the G2X fiasco is an idiot.

I sued T-mobile over the G2X, won in court and now I will advocate to the death of myself against anyone buying ANYTHING from the Tmobile LG family.

    • Napster87

holy crap! nobody cares, Cameron West!

      • live2ski

        THAT! old news, move on.

      • Cameron West

Oh really? If you read every other comment on here…it sure seems like people care.

        • Gary Jenkins

I have an LG 4x HD, it is awesome. just because their old phones sucked doesn’t mean anything, Samsung phones sucked before the Galaxy S2 but now they are the top phone maker in the world.

    • od312

It’s not “Tmobile LG Family,” numb nuts. All lg phones suck.

      • Doakie

Lol. I just watched a video on the Optimus G and thought to myself “Wow a LG phone I’d actually love to own!” Then I realized LG always screws up their phones. PASS!

    • bleeew

      Hopefully they learned their lesson.

    • http://weevil.myopenid.com Weevil

You bought an LG then dis T-Mobile as a company? You have only yourself to blame, but glad you won in the end.

  • dkbnyc

Never, Never Again! After that crap G2x, I will NEVER buy LG.

    • Gary Jenkins

I have the LGH 4x HD, it is smooth and problem-free. The G2x had bugs but they seemed to have improved since then.

That resolution at that screen size?! Come on T-Metro! lol (just kidding, I love Magenta) ; )

  • UMA_Fan

T-Mobile canned the HTC One X+ for this thing…. great.

  • Oh yeah?

As I’m posting from LG G2X running Eagle’s Blood that would have Jelly Bean if Nvidia would ever release drivers. I ask myself, You guys should buy an iPhone. Rooting is too hard.

    • SocalTeknique

There’s plenty of people that will root your phone for $20 or just get a Nexus Phone.

      • qpinto

you do realize that you HAVE to be rooted to be running eaglesblood…

    • fixxmyhead

uhmmm no its not. when i first rooted my s2 i didnt know anything i was a big time noob but if u know how to use a comp and follow instructions its easy especially samsung phones. only the idiots struggle cuz all the info and tools are given to u

  • Deadeye37

I will laugh if they try to sell this for $200 subsidized after $50 mail in rebate.

  • Bud

After owning g2x, i would never buy A lg product.

  • SocalTeknique

NO way?! an LG phone with LED flash?! *mindblown*

  • qpinto

LG never again. After being promised ICS in Q1 of 2012 now it says Q4 of 2012, we have yet to receive the update. The REAL question is will LG ever update this phone past ICS? HHmm

  • bobblehead

    See you in hell LG.
    TMobile G2x owner.

  • http://www.volkswagen.de/ Quailallstar

    Looks like a Nokia N9.

  • whosaidwhat

Why is it that every time there’s a variation of a phone, T-Mobile goes for the weaker version? HTC S instead of the X, LG L9 instead of the G. Is there a reason why Sprint and ATT are getting the better LG phone (G)? I bet you if Samsung had the Galaxy SIII lite, T-Mobile will carry that instead. I don’t get it.

    • mikkej2k

The AT&T version isn’t the best version. The Sprint version comes with a 13mp camera compared to 8mp on T-Mobile and AT&T.

    • Lou

At this point because of this I am considering moving to Sprint.

Sorry T-Mobile, but if you cannot offer any other high end device other than the GSIII and soon the GSIIIXL (aka the GS Note II) I have no need to be on a carrier that wants to offer hundreds of low end models with only one high end choice to go to. Not everyone wants to back into the GSIII T-Mobile!

With the X+ now to AT&T and the G going to Sprint and AT&T (I know its LG but at this point I just want a high end android phone already) we are just getting peanuts compared to the rest.

Unless the rumored Nexus device comes out soon and is offered through T-Mobile, I have no reason to be with this carrier anymore.

GIVE US CUSTOMERS MORE HIGH END CHOICES!!!

      • Doakie

Don’t do it. Sprint sucks now. I’ve always had an okay experience with Sprint until this year. I’ve been on Sprint for 9 years and had solid service. Now I’m on 1 bar of WiMAX @ 1.5 Mbps, and 300 Kbps 3G service in my house 10 minutes south of downtown Seattle with bouts of dropping into roaming. And when I took my kids to Disneyland in September I was on roaming in the park and across the street in the hotel. All the while my work GS3 had a 19 Mbps connection and at home my T-Mobile phone gets a 20 Mbps connection. T-Mobile is where it’s at until Sprint rolls out their LTE.

      • Dragonslaugh

I got this phone because I was in desperate need of something new and needed to switch providers. T-Mobile had it listed for free and I was more than aprehensive about getting an LG. I would have preferred to go with an HTC phone…I have had serious issues in the past with LG. But I gotta tell you…I LOVE THIS PHONE! I haven’t had one single issue with it. Its sleek enough to even carry on my belt pouches I have when I’m doing my western re-enactments or working at the Renaissance Faire

  • MarcusDW

That resolution is a joke right? LG can keep their crappy devices

    • Doakie

I don’t necessarily think the resolution is a problem. At 234 PPI it isn’t the lowest PPI I’ve seen. The Epic 4G Touch is a great phone even with its 206 PPI screen. I think these specs would be great for an average user who wanted a larger screen but wanted something with a nice lower price(assuming this phone is $99 on contract at launch). The real threat is that LG effing sucks with how many bugs their phones have.

      • Doakie

Oh. The original Optimus L9 has a qHD 540 x 960 resolution not the FWVGA 480 X 854 in the article. Typo maybe? The 234 PPI I said earlier would be if the 4.7″ screen was a qHD. If it was a FWVGA the PPI would be closer to the Epic 4G Touch.

  • mikkej2k

It looks like there is no skin on this phone. Could someone confirm or deny this. I’m not familiar wit LG phones.

Will this have a removable memory card?

By the way , that’s a big battery.

    Does anyone use Telenav? Anyone?

    • Herb

There is a skin, just based on the icons. I’m sure there’s more in the UX but it’s hard to judge based on one picture.

  • Alvin Brinson

Forget LG. Flagship my big fat bum! Abandon phones half working as soon as they’re released is their way of business. Never Again!

  • Andy

Never ever buy LG.. after owning G2x.. i am desperate;y waiting fro my contract to get finish.. i fel my old blackberry war better than Lg G2x.

  • CWeb

I guess T-mobile really sells a lot of the lower end hardware, otherwise there is no reason to carry this thing…

  • tommytom

No one in their right mind would ever buy an LG smartphone ever again….See you in hell LG and your G2X as well.

  • bleeew

The phone looks nice, but hopefully this time LG actually supports the phone. it barely has a 208.44 PPI! I think this will trick the non-tech savvy thinking its a good phone cause of the screen size, and the price(Maybe $50-$200 2-year contract)

  • all

    4gb internal memory? 854×480 screen?

This better be a free phone with those specs.

  • Noel

OK so after not having the HTC One X+ for reasons unknown to all of us who were eagerly waiting for the device (probably it was HTC’s fault or the device actually failed testing as rumored or Tmo failed us again like b4 to grab marquee devices)…WHY was Tmobile not announcing the higher end LG Optimus G??? WHY do they always do this thing of going for mid-range devices in some cases…the One S versus the One x comes to mind. I love Tmo and usually buy my devices outright (NEXUS), but Tmo has to deliver in cases like this.
