Deal Alert: Secret Wirefly Friends Pricing For The Galaxy Note: $179.99

Feeling burned by Walmart’s sudden reversal on their seemingly to-good-to-be-true pricing for the Galaxy Note this week? That’s ok, because Wirefly is stepping in with their very own “secret” pricing on their “hidden” WireflyFriends.com website with a price $179.99. That’s right, the pricing is good for both new and qualifying upgrade customers, though don’t ask about the off contract price, that Walmart “special no contract price” was one-in-a-million.

So, if you missed the Walmart deal or had you order canceled, we’re looking at what we believe is the next best pricing for the Galaxy Note on T-Mobile.

    Great find. Thanks!

    • Phone Guru

That is definently a good price…would buy if I had the money. I know where you can get  cheap galaxy note cases for it if you buy it tho:

  • Mancuso B

What deal was Wal-Mart having? Just curious. I’m waiting on the Note 2 no matter if I have to goto AT&T. Sucks because I feel T-Mobile is about to do some Major Improvements to become #2 to Verizon when it comes to service. But then again…..i probably shouldn’t get my hopes up to get let down again

    • http://tmonews.com David

I put a link in the post, that’s why we do these silly things, so you can find out what Walmart was doing!

      • Guest

        THANKS DAVEY.!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Mancuso B

Oh lol. I knew that…..i was just so excited about seeing the Note on T-Mobile my common sense turned off!

  • Aransom

    for classic plans. sad panda.

  • Maribelle

I called t-mobile about a better offer from them and the chick I talked to was REALLY nice.  She said she has received calls about wireflyfriends and she encouraged me not to deal with them based on her experience.  She said that she can’t go lower but if I look into Costco or Best Buy I can probably get it cheaper. – I also went into a t-mobile store and they guy offered me the phone for $299 (with 2 year contract) and that there is a promotion of $100 rebate that expires on the 15th of this month.  I might just do that and make the deal with T-Mobile directly.

    • Sajam20000

you also might want to wait a little bit- they usually have a sale and i would expect either a back to school sale or  labor day sale  or some kind of promotion when everyone else launches the iPhone

  • Guest

Just wanted to point out that also on Wirefly they have the SGS3 for $189.99 for new contracts and upgrdes.

  • MrDenver_Pie

I just got off the phone with Tmobile.  Went to the Loyalty department and explained the deal with Wirefly and the Note.  She told me that she could give me the phone for $149 with NO! changes to my contract.  Take that JD POWERS!!!!!

    • ccnet005

Interesting, “Arturo” at customer service said he could’t get me that price at all.
      Whats up with that?

      • MrDenver_Pie

Call back and ask for “Loyalty”.  See if they can help you.  Explain that you saw the deal through the TMONews Blog like I did.  The lady I talked to came right out and said she can do way better than the wirefly.com deal. Now I do have 3 lines with tmobile though so that may have given me more points with them.

        • Guest

I used to work in loyalty. Check how much they have paid, how long they have been w/ the company, how much we have given out in credits in the past. If those things look good we can pretty much do whatever. Contract extension gives more options as well. If someone is less than $1,000 a year paid… don’t expect much outside the normal rules

      • Sajam20000

Am I missing something?  What is the big deal?  If you see a better deal at a third party, why not just buy it there?  Is it cheaper if you buy it at Tmo directly?  or that much more convenient?  Ive bought phones at LetsTalk before and never had a problem…Maybe Tmo direct gives you abetter return???

        • ccnet005

          Google wirefly complaints

    • predation

you still had to do a contract extension no?

      • MrDenver_Pie

Yes had to do a 2 year contract extension like you normally would with a new phone.

      • ccnet005

Yup, I just got off the phone with their “loyalty” department, I hate to say it, but I might be headed to AT&T based on this last phone conversation.
She said there was no way she could offer that price.
        Whats happening to TMO?

      • ChurningSoon

Thats one of the most stupid policies -they also said if I change my data plan, it starts a whole new 2 years.  I want flexibility if Im still on my contract, youd still get your money.  If I know I will have higher or lower data uses for a  month, I want to make t hat change.  Be customer friendly.  I dont want to extend a contract; Im counting the days now until its over.  I hope they go out of business.

        • Guest

You can change your data plan at any time w/o a contract. If someone told you that, they are wrong. Why in the world are you wasting your time calling them to change your data plan in the first place? just go on the website and change it

    • Homer4evr

I called yesterday and got the same deal after sitting on hold for 20mins the first call and 30mins the next, finally on the last call I was so fed up they got me to a good person and gave me this offer.

    • Guest

One good experience out of how many million customers?  They didnt really give you a great deal if you could have just easily gotten it at another retailer.  Dont really see the big deal.  Everyone who wants an SG3 should get Walmart for the cheaper price; if Tmo decided to match that, theyd be smart but it wouldnt be a big deal.  If they didnt match it, it would be stupid.

      • MrDenver_Pie

It has to start someplace Mr. Guest.  The lady was pleasant wonderful to talk to.  Maybe it is how some of customers are calling in that sets the tone for the rest of the call?  I know I can be an ass with customer service people.

        • http://ashn.myopenid.com/ Ash

Yeah, if you wanna be treated nicely, treat others nicely.

      • guest

When I worked in loyalty, if you were a pissed off douche, I didn’t give you shit. It was so refreshing to get someone who wasn’t demanding, or being an ass I would do everything in my power to help. Which can be quite a bit w/ the right finesse. Convince your boss the issue is t-mobiles fault, and you can put through a credit of whatever you want. I know i’ve dropped $800+ off a few ppl’s bill due to international charges

    • JBLmobileG1

I too called the Loyalty department and they sold me the SGS3 32gb model in Pebble Blue for $179.00 which came to just over $200 after it was all said and done. They also waived my upgrade fee. I wasn’t even supposed to be eligible for a full upgrade until the end of September but they upgraded me in July. Recently they overcharged my current bill… I guess they didn’t add all the taxes to my upgrade. To sum things up I called customer care and explained what happened and they shaved almost $70 off my bill without any fuss so it was back to normal. Now if that isn’t customer service and treating a loyal customer since 2004 great than I don’t know what is. One thing I always do is treat them the way I would like to be treated. No yelling… most of the time they will do their best to help you out.

  • Sigewulf

So you don’t have to be a wirefly employee or acquantance to get these deals?

  • andy budhu

    is this phone worth it?

    • Dfireballwow

Yes if you want a massive phone. No really it is worth it.

  • ccnet005

Completely off-topic, but which carrier is the most “developer” friendly?
Might jump the fence tonight to some another provider.

  • SG3TmoPrepaid

Does anyone know if you can buy the Tmobile version of the Samsung GS3 at full price for use on their prepaid plan.  We figured out this would be so much more cost efficient for us as we would break even in 8 months.  Just spent half an hour with Tmo reps and they cant figure out how to do that or find a place on the website where you can buy it.  Their MSRP says 599 – youd think theyd want to sell it to use in prepaid – since they say you can use anyphone on prepaid – yet their prepaid page only shows a handful of crappy phones.  (I know cuz we have one that just doesnt work)…Then tried Amazon and several vendors told us the phone is the European international version and it wont be compatible with Tmobile/wont have a warranty/wont get 3G services….I dont understand why they make it so hard and why a rep would be so useless to not even be able to make t hat happen…A customer wants to give them $600 and they dont know how to make that happen.

    • Guest

      ebay is even cheaper

    • Behicks9

Many retail stores will not sell that phone without a contract, since they make $0 on the device in that instance. Many(not all) save high demand phones for customers activating/renewing contract service. I work in a store like that currently…nobody in my store would sell it to you in that instance, even though we technically could. Try another store if you want…

    • Eanfoso

Dude just buy the phone and put your sim card in, it’ll work, besides, you’re actually better off going into a value plan, is cheaper than pre paid :)

    • Guest

      Are you serious dude.?

  • Tasvir

Just got off the phone with wirefly and looks like the guy would do anything I anything to sell me this phone. Whenever I get pushed like that it just raises a red flag for me. Is it safe to deal with them? They have like zillions of complaints when you google them. Also is it 179.99 out of the way or Ill get monthly 20$ bill to pay of the phone for the rest of my life???
    Thanks

    • RisingSun

I bought a phone from wirefly 3 years ago. They are the middle man that make money from the data plan they set you on. The data plan is calculated $20/month x 2 years= $480, if you decided to cancelled your data or service before 2 years they will call you to pay the difference. I know because I pay the difference just to save my credit when I switched to Tmo from Verizon. Hope that help.

      • Tasvir

Thanks wonton tran. I spoke to t-mobile and they gave me a price for 199.99 and 20$ for the phone for 20 months. I dont know if buying it from wirefly will also make me pay for the phone every month. I already have the data service. Even though wirefly said its 179.99 out of the gate no monthly payment. But I have a hard time trusting them.

        • Tasvir

Btw I am on tmobile’s value plan.

  • RisingSun

Bought a Galaxy Note yesterday and it’s $299+taxes+$18 upgrade fees= $347 with a $50 rebate visa card. It’s just like a galaxy S2 with the S pen and bigger screen. The store rep want to sell me hotspot ($15), 5gb data ($10), insurance ($8)= $150/month, WTF?? Just ring the phone up and leave my classic plan alone. If I want to get shaft with all this unnecessary service I would of go with ATT. The phone is awesome though.

    • Brett A. Spitzer

      WARNING  WARNING Rant ahead!
Yea I had a douche at my store try to sell me on that insurance crapola on both mine and the wifey’s GS3. Said he saved over 1500 since he and his daughter broke their phones, well yea that’s IF you paid full price for them which he didn’t as I’m sure he used his upgrade and paid $200 for each. And I can’t think of a single $750 phone to warrant his math. Nonetheless if you add up the $8 x 24 you get $192 just for the premium on insurance, then a $130 replacement fee for a total of $322 if you replace just 1 phone in that 2 years. I don’t know about you but if I mess mine up, $322 will buy me a lot of GS3 (with some more money added of course in the short term) for a used GS3 on ebay/craigslist. Then in a year when it probably would actually be busted I could pick one up for less. So basically he asked me to take a ~$330 gamble that my phone would be broke in 24 months or less which is more than half the cost of a BRAND new GS3 ($629). I told him this and then finished with, I don’t gamble $330 just like that and definitely not x 2 (as I had already declined on my GS3 a few days beforehand.) He just shook his head and couldn’t understand my reasoning, and I shook mine not understanding his ($1500 saved) as he was just losing on commission on the insurance sale (if reps even get commision.) Needless to say I know why they are dead last in JD Power, my store in particular has a bunch of dbags that would know SO much more if they just read this blog. I routinely ask questions to test them and they fall flat on their face cause they just youtube stuff all day instead of learning things about their own products/service/coverage. Now this might just be my store but with the latest results, it looks like it’s more than just my store, Saint Joseph, MO. Rant concluded and I do feel much better!

      • RisingSun

My man, take a deep breath and scream out loud while riding your bike to the psychologist and tell her your frustrations with your feet on the couch. Haha jk. I think most of the young people work at tmobile sales don’t have a mortgage so their biggest bill is their cell phone. Why do they think people are ok with paying $200 phone bill every month? Next they gonna tell me to go rent for cheaper so I can pay them instead. Every time I go to a  Tmobile store just to check out a phone in person they always want me to add a line with every option they can sell me. I am not buying a car! I am surprise they are not charging me to use bluetooth. Tmo pricing is still good but all this nickel and dime fees are adding up. It’s 115 degree in Phoenix, Az and I am about to pop a sale person if they ask me to add another line. I need to tell myself CTFD ( calm the f*** down ) when I talk to Tmo employees.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/UBSDUZSL4HWQFAUPNO3AI6XDVQ Clayton

Just bought the Note for $167.97 without any changes to contract and I still get an upgrade in December for the Note 2 hopefully! Great customer service..should be since ive been with them for 10 years!

    • ccnet005

      How did you manage that?

      • Guest

Its probably not true. Selling a customer a phone with a discount and no contract is practically impossible. If they had great payment history ($1,000+ a year little credits) you could sent phone out @ retail price and give a month free w/ no contract exention

        • http://profile.yahoo.com/UBSDUZSL4HWQFAUPNO3AI6XDVQ Clayton

i literally called asked for customer service.. told him about the site. and i said that was the price without an upgrade(i lied) so he matched it without me upgrading.

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/UBSDUZSL4HWQFAUPNO3AI6XDVQ Clayton

just asked them to match the price and he was like “i can do better!” hah. nice guy and i didnt have to beg for anything

        • CODExpert

Liar.  Show the receipt then.  Flickr, Tumblr or other upload sites will be proof of this.  Otherwise, you are lying.

        • http://profile.yahoo.com/UBSDUZSL4HWQFAUPNO3AI6XDVQ Clayton

im not lying..where would i pull out a specific number like 167.97. My brothers line was eligible for upgrade. i used his upgrade and got the phone for my line. i still get an upgrade in December. no changes were made to our contract other than a 2 year contract extension on my brothers line.

        • Android

Well there you go. Your brother is out of an upgrade. So technically you didn’t get it without a change in the contract.

  • Boricua Boy88

I got mine today, ordered it yesterday. $262.48 after taxes and overnight shipping. I’m on a Value plan, so I only had to pay $200 down for it. Customer Care is your best bet if you want it, because chances are that your local stores won’t carry it. Only 379 stores in the whole country, including Puerto Rico, will have it in stock. Everyone else is SOL, no plans to expand beyond those markets.

    • Boricua Boy88

Oh yeah, anyone wanna explain to me why, if they’re releasing the Note in Puerto Rico, is it not eligible for Value EIP down there? I lol’d when I found out, and thanked God that I don’t live there anymore.

      • ccnet005

I’m still trying to figure out how you got that price on a value plan.
You got the name of the rep that gave you that deal?

        • Guest

Someone probably screwed up that’s how. Or Birucya Boy88 is under the wrong impression as to how much his phone cost. On a value plan w/ 5 lines, out of contract with good payment history and low adjustments in the past… you could probably drop $400.00 off the price, which would come out to $200.00 + tax. Outside that, the rep is really hurting in contracts that month and is just giving shit out (and will probably be out a job)

        • Guest

Does upgrading through wirefly change the existing dataplan?

  • GeekNerdStuff

Got mine in store the day of release. Upgraded through T-Mobile Retentions and they paid my bill for the month and lowered the price on the Note. I love this thing. I can’t see myself going back to a smaller device now. Anyone with doubts on the specs and all that, listen it’s great and it’s just as fast as the GSIII.  If you’re waiting on a Note 2 release on August 29th don’t hold your breath – it’s just an announcement so you may be waiting for a while before you see a Note 2.  In the meantime I’m going to enjoy this one until that time comes around.

  • Guest

Did anyone try to root this yet?

The reason you all got burned by the Wal Mart deal is thanks to David’s Article that alerted WalMart of their mistake.  If David wouldn’t have made that article, you guys would have your GNote for $379 by now.

I just had to buy my GNote off Wirefly because Tmobile is tripping with their prices atm.   It’s cool tho because the price will drop on the Tmobile version soon due to low number of sales.

  • Fonger1983

We get it exhibits man, you’re not a Tmo fan. My only point to you is that if you’re going to keep boasting how informed and intellectual you are, and why not actually make sound informed comments instead of just blabbing away. I feel that this may be your only conduit for you to vent out to help you deal with your own personal issues. The I’ve had to read your comments over and over again. I at first I assumed you were working in the field of telecommunications but I haven’t seen an iota of sound commenting that could leave me to believe that’s true. How about keeping some forms of professionalism when you decide to retort against someone’s personal opinion.? I though I won’t knock you for calling someone out who makes an erroneous or childish comment. I just to inform you I have been in the wireless industry for 8 years, and I have a masters degree from Vanderbilt in business and a bachelor’s degree from MIT in computer and software programing and logistics, so I do know what I’m talking about. I keep your childish comments to yourself and save room for comments from consumers and people actually in the field of telecommunications.

  • Virgogrl22

I called the T-Mobile “loyalty” department last night and told the rep that wirefly is selling the note for a cheaper price to upgrade. I asked if they could help me get a deal. She gave me the phone for FREE! They reduced my family plan rate by 60 bucks and me and my sister’s data plans by 10 dollars. The upgrade fee was waived and didnt even have to pay shipping/handling. My phone should be arriving sometime next week. I was going to wait for the Note 2, but I would have been stupid to pass up that deal.

    • Guest

Had a similar experience, didn’t quite get as good a deal as you did on the phone but ended up with a discounted note, an additional dataplan on another line, more minutes and my bill ending up being cheaper than my previous bill by a little bit. I was actually looking at other carriers since my contract was up, but gave me a deal that was hard to pass up.

  • Tasvir

I am a tmo value plan customer with a data plan. Called tmo with wirefly price they droped the price down to 199.99 and 20$ a month to 20 months. Is wirefly is the same way. Or its 179.99 out of the gate no monthly payment?. Please help I need to order the phone asap. Thanks in advance.

Another T-Mobile educated value plan customer….

      • Tasvir_123

@ udubb you mind sharing your experience…I might be missing something here. Thanks in advance.

  • The KISS Army

I called Tmo Customer Care yesterday and got the Note for $299 and they knocked $100 off of my bill to bring it to $100.  I’ll be paying the full amount on my bill due at the end of September.  Much better than the $490 I was originally quoted on two different calls on the 8/8/12 release date.  We had a full upgrade available on one of my sons’ phone, but he let me keep that upgrade available and just added the Note to my line that had another 18 months before it was eligible for an upgrade.  After HUGE headaches trying to get this baby on Wednesday – no stores in Michigan will even carry the Note and the lousy $490 price I was originally quoted – I’m pretty happy with what I got.  If Tmo didn’t come through on that phone call, I was going to let my Tmo line die and get the ATT Note.  Just found out this morning that my Note is on backorder though – UGH!

Mine’s coming in the mail. I got it for $599.99 plus $8.99 shipping. Should be here tomorrow.

        I got mine for $179, whew…so sweet.

I got it off contract and will use it on the $30 monthly4G plan. It seems like a sweet deal, I just hope 100 minutes a month is enough.

I’m gonna do it that way too.  I already have the 5GB plan for $30, and it works for me because I don’t use it to call.  Just the unlimited text and 5GB data.

I was offered $150 for note (plus $100 off bill) or $180 for SIII 16gig (plus $100 off bill)… which is a better deal?

Both of those choices is basically the same amount of savings cause its just $100 off each phone (Note=$250 and S3 = $280). Is that $100 off your bill a one time thing or is it recurring?

so I had to pay $150 for note but I get $100 off my next bill… so would be $50 for note… and $80 for sIII aftter discount.. it was a one time off discount

thats good, I was only offered 249 for note to pay upfront and then 100 off bill.  I should try calling again : (
